Random SHMA vs Hiya PSA/Rant

Hello everyone. I've been collecting godzilla figures for 10 years now, and I love the attention that this community has been getting over the recent years.

That being said, its getting harder and harder to enjoy this hobby when so many people are just so damn negative and seem to lack any wonder or real appriciation for these figures.

Its not so bad here on reddit, but other on other platforms like youtube and facebook, it becomes this tribalistic, angsty argue fest, where debate and hate feel like the only manner of communicating people's interests with godzilla figures.

Im tired of always hearing fights between fans of SHMA and Hiya, as if one line is only good on the merit, that its better than the other. Comparisons and reviews should be encouraged, however if in the case of figures like 2000 and kiryu goji, where both Hiya and SHMA are objectely the equal, dont preach your subjective opinions and ramble on about bs like accuracy and plastic quality. Just because SHMA is stylised doesn't mean a great many of Bandai's figures arent accurate and just because Hiya uses different plastic, doesnt mean the objective quality of thier figures is any worse.

By all means, call out the unfriendly consumer practices, like Hiya's constant delays and retoolings, and Bandai's aweful pricing and push each company's lines to do better. Dont however, let the subjective overshadow the objective and dont attack your fellow collector. Ive been guilty of the last part before, and its not nice place to be.

Both figure lines should be able to be enjoyed by their own merits and if you can't like one without hating the other, than just shut the hell up.

Is there a site that currently has the hiya godzilla 1999 in stock at all? I looked on the main sites I use like nerdzoic and big bad toy store but both are out of stock and ebay people are selling it for almost the same price as the shma godzilla 2000.

My son is petitioning for a reissue

My 11 year is a Godzilla fanatic. He has collected the toys since he was little and his dream toy is the Bandai Jumbosaurus. He took it upon himself to create a petition asking for it to be re-released. It would mean a lot to him if he saw it gaining signatures. Would anyone here be willing to boost a young Godzilla fan's spirit and sign or share his petition?

I know it’s already been done but I wanted to compare the SHMA Godzilla (2002) with Hiyas (plus a quick review of the Hiya Godzilla (2002)

This might just be the biggest 180 I’ve ever seen a figure do. The first photos we got of this thing looked like unwiped ass and looked little to nothing like the film design but now I think waiting has paid off. The neck piece had me worried at first but honestly it’s not as bad in person and I never believed that you can replicate a neck like that and make it perfectly articulated without some compromises.

Pros:

- most film accurate looking figure
- paints on the eyes and teeth are very nice
- solid and nothing pops off ESPECIALLY THE LEFT ARM! (Looking at you SHMA)

Cons:
- can’t look up as high as what was shown in the solicitation photos
- the blue was a little overdone and might throw the look off for some people

I feel this release was executed better over SHMA and think this is probably their best Millenium Godzilla yet. Really happy with how this turned out!

More hiya yapping

After seeing the video of the light up Godzilla the final product dosen't have the dorsal look on Godzilla 2019/2021

I did post about this a few days ago and to any people that thought the final product would have the artistic glow it dosen't

While this isn't that big of a deal I do kinda wish it had it. I always liked that look it made Monsterverse Godzilla's design more unique then it already was. It also would make it more movie accurate

Ik this is for 2021 but the only difference from 2021 and 2019 is the fact 2021's chest glows but that only happens when he blows a hole into the earth
