We often hear 2 night swaps don't always feel worth the prep. 1-2 weeks is where it starts to click. 2 weeks+ is a different thing entirely!

Curious where everyone here lands on that arc:

1. Longest swap you've done (in nights)
2. Where you were
3. The one thing about your normal life back home that got weird, paused, or transformed for the better while you were gone

Hi, I know this is a long shot, but I was wondering if there is anyone out there who needs to be in Montreal maybe 6-9 months of the year? My boyfriend lives there (we are long distance), but he is in a pet free apartment, and I am trying to figure out how to visit him in August and maybe again in December. Airbnb is so much more expensive than renting a place, so I had the thought that perhaps I could find someone who likes to vacation every few months or leaves during school breaks or something. I would need a 2 bedroom apartment that is pet friendly, ideally in Ahuntsic or along the orange line. I would also be very open to a home-swap, although I know many people are trying not to travel to the US. TIA!

Sono un dottorando dell'Università di Parigi e sarò a Bari nei mesi di luglio e agosto per un progetto di ricerca (ottimo periodo per fare ricerca a Bari, lo so. Ma ahimè sto facendo un dottorato autofinanziato, quindi l'estate è l'unico tempo libero che ho).

Ho un budget limitato a 300€ al mese massimo.

Sto cercando:

• una stanza in appartamento condiviso
• un monolocale/appartamento
• oppure un subaffitto temporaneo per questi due mesi

Sono anche aperto a un possibile scambio casa: potrei mettere a disposizione il mio studio a Parigi durante lo stesso periodo, quindi se qualcuno/a fosse interessato/a a passare l’estate a Parigi potremmo organizzarci 😊

Qualcosa su di me:

• persona tranquilla e rispettosa
• non fumatrice
• abituata alla convivenza
• vengo a Bari principalmente per lavoro di ricerca/università
• sono italiano!

My wife and I live in Los Angeles and recently started talking about doing 1–2 month stays in other cities/countries each year instead of just taking short vacations.

We discovered HomeExchange and Kindred and the whole concept is really interesting to us, especially since it seems more community/trust based than Airbnb.

A few questions for people who actually do this:

• How hard is it to get setup?
• Are the people who stay at your home respectful and wont cause trouble?
• Is it worth it?

Would love to hear real experiences from people who’ve made this part of their lifestyle.
