Do people ever do extended (1 yr+) homeswaps? If so what platform?

basically title. I have a place and am thinking of going to grad school/trying out a new city temporarily. instead of renting it out and finding a new place has anyone ever houseswapped with someone for a long period of time in the US?

Starting new job on Monday after 7 months of unemployment!

Are we still doing these? If so here are my stats. I left my toxic job in March of this year (berating weekly emails from my boss' boss), had only been there 10 mo, direct boss didn't even know what one of my assignments entailed, no training, awful coworkers. I got a job that pays the same (but at the top of the salary band so no room for more) but lower title. I'm still applying for better jobs, but I just ran out of my emergency fund so very grateful. I'm in a somewhat niche field so numbers are low. Hang in there, it's rough.

Manager II test

hi all- first time applying to the state and I’m currently taking the manager II test. is it ok to use the same example for all the questions? they ask me to give an example of supervisory responsibilities and there’s a lot of overlap in the questions. I managed to summarize everything within the word limit for the first question and am now having a hard time coming up with other examples for the other ones. An example is ”managing others“ and then “communicating expectations”. my answers for both are the same. any advice would be appreciated. TIA

Take a lower paying job with higher title?

I’m in a situation I haven’t been in before and although I have an idea of what I’m going to do I need a gut check.

I left a job in March after 10 months due to an extremely toxic environment. I was going to be fired but chose to leave on my own to preserve reinstatement rights. I have 12 yrs of experience in my field and up until this point have had upward movement in title/salary.

I finally received a job offer and while the role is doing more than I have been/comparable to an entry level manager, the title would be a demotion (senior analyst). They are matching my salary I had before but it maxes out at that. I have a second interview for a title with a MUCH higher title (deputy director) but the max pay would be a more than 10% pay cut.

my thoughts are to take the lower paying job with higher title if offered. I can move after a year or two to another organization that pays more (similar roles pay much more). While the salary sucks, I could make it work. I don’t have a grad degree which is somewhat common in my field and I’ve been struggling to break into management.

Past employee trying to come back- advice on Supplemental Questionnaires

I left the county after almost 10 cumulative years in the 182X series (left as an 1823) in 2023 due to a move to LA but would like to return. Before I left I was applying to Manager I and II roles and ranked 1st and actually got a job offer (but declined due to the move). I've applied to two roles so far (1825 and a Manager III) role and am just tanking on the rankings (ranked 65th and 15th). What gives? The quality of my answers hasn't changed and since then I've had more responsibilities/applicable experiences. I get the economy is bad and so maybe there are more applicants? Are people using Chat GPT to answer their questionnaires? (I'm not). Really just looking for some insight either from 1. a grader for these questionnaires or 2. someone who's scored high. If you've recently been successful on these and wouldn't mind looking over my answers/letting me look at yours I'd really appreciate it

Property Tax- alameda county

I’ve been a homeowner since 2020. usually I’m able to view my property tax bill online via the assessors office but I cant view 2026/2027 (I think the bill went out sometime in July). I’m currently out of town and won’t be back for a while and also want to dispute my assessment. does anyone know how to view the current tax bill?

Based in US. I have $1000 in my account and want to buy HNHPF but I see "Trading Restricted No Opening Trades: DTC Chilled or Ineligible" and there's no buy button. What does this mean? How can I buy this stock?
