1822 Administrative Analyst Test

Hi everyone! I was recently invited to take the 1822 Administrative Analyst Test and have a 3‑hour window to complete it sometime in the next 6 days. I’ve been trying to find information about the test format or sample questions so I can prepare, but haven’t had any luck.

Does anyone have any insight or experience with this exam that they’d be willing to share? Thank you so much!

golden parachute

why isn't the city offering early retirement packages? Wouldn't it completely close the budget shortfall to get rid of a bunch of dead weight? (I'm referring specifically to the folks who are coasting and simply waiting to retire....)

Watching our service, retail, and hourly workers get priced out of SF is heartbreaking. How are you all actually surviving the rent here?

Hey everyone,

I am a local resident here in San Francisco. While I don’t work an hourly job myself, I have so many close friends, neighbors, and people in my community who do. It feels like every single month I hear about someone else having to pack up and leave the city because the math just doesn't add up anymore.

I wanted to open up a real discussion to hear directly from SF's workforce. How are you navigating the cost of living right now? What percentage of your paycheck is actually going toward your rent? Are people having to work multiple jobs just to stay afloat?

I am trying to help gather real-world data to take straight to city officials and housing advocates to show them the true reality of our workforce's housing burden.

Below is the link for the survey. Feel free to partake in the survey or share with the community. You can choose to have your information shared with housing advocates and the Mayor's Staff for future follow up and housing help, or you can choose to remain 100% anonymous and do not have to leave any personal information at all just have your input count.

https://form.svhrt.com/6a3e29cf414ffc60071f5011

Please note that the first round of survey data will be collected July 31 2026 and turned into the Mayor's Office on August 1 2026 and the same every month collected the last day of the month and turned in to our Mayor's office on the first day of Every month there after, in hopes for either better wages or lower affordable housing or better yet both.......

Look in the following comments for the PDF printable Flyer you can share at work (if authorized by HR) or hand out to fellow working friends.....

DFPS RAISES For Directors

DFPS Directors get 20-30% raise, meanwhile there are freezes within the department, investigators dropping like flies, no funds to hire new trainers in Learning and Development and lowering travel for investigators. Does anyone know what’s going on? On top of that everyone is return to work (even when unnecessary) which is a big pay cut!!

Layoffs and WFH policies

If I am applying for jobs at SF city and county,

  1. How do I differentiate between jobs that are at risk and might not exist versus jobs that are secure and won’t leave me fearing that I’ll be laid off? I need job security more than anything (evenmore than the pay). Is there a way to know that a job announcement is for a job that will exist and is non-risk?
  2. I see jobs that require more time in the office than at home (four days in office, one day at home). I have a child to consider and would prefer jobs similar to my current one, where I go in the office one day a week and work from home the other four days (so exact opposite of SF city and county jobs Lol). How strict is the policy around WFH?

How is DHR as a city department to work for?

Has anyone worked at or currently works at the SF DHR? Would love to hear honest thoughts on what it’s like to work there.

Curious about:
- Day to day work culture
- Work life balance
- Leadership and team dynamics
- Anything you wish you’d known before joining

Any feedback appreciated, good or bad!

Workplace Experiences

Started a city job a little more than a year ago and i have never worked at a place with so much bullying, backstabbing and intimidation as i've seen in this dept. a friend who worked for the city warned me that it can be like that sometimes, but this is beyond what i imagined. i woudl think the job security would make people less obnoxious in that way, but apparently not. i imagine it varies according to departments. why do people act this way, and have folks found strategies to combat it? its just annoying and petty to me, and a distraction from the real work at hand. has anyone else experienced this?

DT All Hands Meeting - 06/25

So what the fuck was the point of last Thursday's meeting? The mayor constant threats of layoffs and they proceed to give out fake awards? I hope the person working in HR who got the best hiring award feel great about themselves. Don't forget the BRING YOUR KID TO OFFICE DAY OR LUNCH TIME GAMING WITH NINTENDO SWITCHES

Anyone from HR know if this website is accurate , timely and reliable : https://sfdhr.org/permanent-civil-service-appointments . I have a number of applications in the system that are not going anywhere and I do not want to pester the recruiters... I have been using this as a monitor... but I could be wasting my time.
