Question for musicians in Htown.

So i moved here 3 years ago cause my health was detoriating, but thanks to the docs in Houston, they got me squared away and been here for almost three years now. Have been enjoying it been feelancing and filling in here and there on guitar, but can i ask a question???? is it me or a lot of people here think they're rockstars that they try to gate keep certain info on venues for you to book or if u got some good music they'll either ghost you or dissmiss ya from been the cool kid in the block? lol!! dont know how to explain but i feel if you're not a major rock star in town no one will join your band or something. Maybe its me or my TISM, that perhaps i'm bad at networking. I've tried starting a band but always get flaky people. I do all my work and record myself so decided to release it. Its more like Oldies music and got a video and everything and now that i have something on platforms people all of a sudden want to collaborate. lol! just wanted to see anyone there thats a local and has been here for years to chime in. I feel like an outsider. haha

Let's start a band

Hello, I'm looking to start a band in Houston Texas. I'm a singer, but I don't have any experience playing instruments. Looking for a bass player, 2 guitars, and a drummer preferably. I'm confident in my singing abilities, 22 y/o male, looking to create some original music for once in my life. I'm committed and ready to go the distance. I take inspiration from bands like incubus, pink floyd, radiohead, soundgarden, etc. Please message me if interested.

[USA, TX, HOUSTON] Looking to make the next big Indie Rock/Alternative RnB Band!

hi everyone!

i’m nathan, a 26 year old singer/songwriter/producer with over five years of music production and live performance experience. i’m looking for musicians to build a live indie rock/alternative rnb project based here in houston.
i’m open to creating remotely as well if that dynamic works, but if you’re a musician nearby then i’d love to collaborate!

i have four demos you can listen to on soundcloud that i’ve played, wrote, arranged and sang myself:

https://on.soundcloud.com/5j3NkaWW62Azp0Xhvo

the main inspos are: The Strokes, Bleachers, Dijon, Keshi, Joji and The 1975.

instruments i’m looking for specifically are:
-Lead Guitar
-Bass
-Drums

looking for serious musicians who are committed into making moves and wanting to create something bigger than just us. i’m aiming more for a world we can create, and cultivate a community through our music.

feel free to DM me on here, or email me at [ leavinglane@proton.me ], or my discord [ stratii. ]

Houston rapper looking for acoustic guitarist

Hey everybody, I’m J Morg and I make hip-hop/rap music over acoustic guitar-driven beats and I’m looking for a guitarist to build with for live performances, acoustic versions of my songs and content.
I’m not looking for somebody to just play generic chords behind me—I want to find someone interested in developing a unique rapper + guitarist sound together.
I already have original music and can send examples. Looking to jam first and see if we have good chemistry.
Houston area. DM me if you’re interested or know somebody who might be!

Seeking Guitarist for Newly Formed Band (Spring Branch)

We are a fledgling band, looking for the right people to start something from the ground up.

We have rehearsal space in the Spring Branch area of Houston, Texas. We would like to accomplish the following:

  • First and foremost, have fun playing with like-minded individuals
  • Rehearse weekly
  • Work toward performing live every 1 to 2 months
  • Be open to learning and covering songs suggested by each member and potentially playing original songs written collectively. In other words, we will try to learn the songs you want to play if you also try to learn the songs we want to play, so long as no one absolutely hates the song and it is within our abilities.

Beyond that we are flexible. We currently do not have a concrete style, genre, or setlist, but are gravitating toward 90's and 2000's era rock, grunge, and alternative.

For more information, including examples of our work, see the link below:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XGmpb2v-mI73SnBN8H_MBxVjnAQbNyjLTEN8OAVz1Bs/edit?usp=sharing

We invite all to apply.

Our ideal lineup would include rhythm guitar, lead guitar, and possibly a keyboard. If you can do double duty, such as rhythm guitar and keyboard, even better. Can you sing backup? Awesome! You can't, also fine.

Please try to be descriptive in your reply. If you have any, please include examples of your playing. Here are some traits we would like to see:

  • Stable and dependable
  • No hard drug users
  • Well maintained music gear

Lastly, we are respectful and tolerant of those who show respect and tolerance. If you have extremely polarizing political views, please seek elsewhere.

Pink Floyd Cover bands Houston Tx

I went to see Brit Floyd when they were in Houston and it was ABSOLUTELY amazing. I wanted to seek out more cover bands because hearing PF live was such a rush. Any idea if there are any in or coming to Houston?
