Listen up you corporate bootlickers and Hungry Jack’s wage slaves, I just got hit with the most thinly-veiled MAFIA THREAT I’ve ever seen on this godforsaken website.
I posted a simple picture of their pathetic little “1kg” bag of icing sugar that looked like it had been sitting in Jack Cowin’s private bunker for 20 years, half empty like his soul. Nothing crazy. Just consumer feedback. And what happens?

This isn’t a moderator. This is Jack Cowin himself, the burger baron of Australia, typing with greasy fingers from his secret lair, reminding me that while they get to split 12-packs of nuggets and “meals,” the little guy isn’t allowed to split open the truth about their scam sugar bags.
It’s not even subtle. “We like splitting some things… but it don’t mean we split everything.”
Translation:
“Keep your mouth shut about our shrinking portions or we’ll split you in half, Fun_Address6993. We know where you live. We have the nuggets. We control the sauce.”

Jack Cowin is out here running Hungry Jack’s like it’s the Corleone family but with worse fries and more trans fats. I am literally shaking right now. My 1kg bag wasn’t even 1kg. It was 400g of sadness and lies.
They removed my post for “doesn’t fit the subreddit.” Yeah, because the truth doesn’t fit in their fascist burger dystopia.

So weird tbh. What’s the catch?

Unopened obviously! I checked the batteries, used a different bowl, zeroed it again, tested it with a 1lb block of butter. Nope, cheated out of 300g and I needed 900g for the recipe. I had a bit leftover from my last bag which would have been enough of a buffer but now I have to go to buy more 😩

Since I’m getting these questions a lot:

1. The brand is Roger’s Sugar, I’m in Alberta, Canada
2. I realize kitchen scales are not extremely accurate but I always make sure that it is working correctly - if I tare it and then press lightly on the scale, or push it and it doesn’t go back to zero, then I know it’s not working and I’ll rewipe the counter and the bottom of the scale, check batteries, etc. I also first measured in the bowl of my kitchen aid mixer but then switched to the blue bowl pictured to double check. I know exactly how much the blue bowl weighs, and the weight has been consistent over multiple kitchen scales. The bowl measured correctly and then I rated it and poured the sugar in, if the tare was off then after I poured the icing sugar in and took the bowl+icing sugar off the scale, the weight of the bowl would have shifted. I am very careful about making sure the scale is accurately measuring before I start mixing things, especially for baking things will be fucked up if the weights are off.

What this video doesn’t show is the manager turning off the fryers, shoving a fire blanket down then putting the lids on.

This was September last year. Manager asked me to make sure the restaurant and bathrooms were clean and when I walked into the bathroom it was actually completely fine, but there was someone in the stall so I decided to leave.

Not even five minutes later my manager yells across the kitchen at me because someone reported a mess in the bathroom. Me and her walk in and and she just says "oh my god" and i was genuinely surprised how that happened in a matter of five minutes.

The manager tells me to stay, then leaves and comes back with 3 paper cups and straws. I had to scoop it out with the paper cup then unclog the drain with the straws. I realised while scooping the chunky sludge that if i waited for the person to leave the stall I would have witnessed the whole event unfold.

(Also a small child walked in mid scoop and i had to awkwardly ask them to leave then I saw a cucumber wrapped with a condom in the bin)
