Went to Main St. last night - WTF?

I lived in HB from 2005-2014. I got married and moved to Texas. I'm here this week for a wedding. I went to Main St. to hang out.

What the heck? Bars were almost dead. Plus, the US Open of Surfing started. No lines for bars. Back in the day, Sharkeyz would have a line. Easy.

I'm in shock. What happened?

Us surf open

My son is five and likes a surfing game, so I thought about taking him today or tomorrow to see the US Open. my questions are do you think we'll be able to find seating? is there seating? or do we need to bring our own seating? and what should we do about parking? and do you think he'll be able to see and enjoy the surfing if he finds it enjoyable? I guess I'm asking more like crowds and if he'll be able to see and know if people won't be too crazy. thanks

Hi all. I am posting this here because the police have still not found a missing U Haul with 50k+ worth of mine and my bfs stuff which was stolen from DTLA early morning July 22nd. We got a tip it was seen exiting the freeway yesterday shortly after it was stolen in Huntington Beach. If you see this truck with a dinosaur 🦖 on the side please contact me or the police. It had our whole lives inside 😔

Bad skunk like smell near Beach and Adams

Anyone else dealing with this? I feel like it’s been happening every week. Very strong odor, fumes. Smells like a skunk but worse and seems to come from everywhere outside. I’ve heard some saying it’s related to the oil platforms? I have to close all the windows and wait it out for an hour or so.

Vacay Tips

Good morning everyone,

I'm planning a trip to SoCal the week of labor day and spending a few days in Huntington Beach. U was wondering if anyone could give me any tips for lodging, dining, entertainment, etc. Figured I'd ask the natives first. Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Come support local arts!!

Hey everyone, if you’re looking for something to do next weekend and would like to support local community theater, come see Hadestown at the Huntington Beach Public Library from July 30th to August 2nd (see photo below for show dates and times)

If this heatwave is kicking you down, the theater has GREAT air conditioning and tickets are quite affordable ☺️ It’s also a great way to support the public library while also having a fun time!

Here is the link to the tickets if anyone is interested!

I'm drawing an historical/mythological map of California in a fantasy Middle Earth style. Can I ask for your input in getting more real world locations included?

I'm currently making a map of California in a classic fantasy style. It's going to be filled with real world history, with the aim of highlighting local landmarks in a fun and educational way. Please ignore how rough parts of it look (text going through hills, rivers, etc), it'll all get cleaned up at the end. Forests will be going on at the end too.

While it's around two thirds done, I'd love to get more places and features in here before I get this made into print. Any more petroglyphs, burial mounds, ruins, forts, battlefields, Civil War heritage, ghost towns or the like that you think should be on here? Anything else is great too - landmarks, natural features, mythological creatures or just anything cool and quirky you think would look good on here. Thanks!

Rental suggestions for mid 20’s couple

I’ve been searching exhaustively it feels like and would love recommendations from people that live in the area:

I’m looking for a 2 bedroom apartment anywhere from Huntington Beach down to Newport Beach. I’ve looked at so many places but I have no idea what areas to avoid or look in.

My partner loves playing beach volleyball, and I will be working in Tustin. He wants to be close to volleyball and I’m willing to commute 30 min to work to be in a fun area where we can walk to grocery stores, restaurants, or bars. Also looking to be near some trails/parks

Must haves:
In unit laundry
2 bed 2 bath
We really dislike the sink in the room that a lot of units have instead of it being IN the bathroom with a door
Parking included

Ideally looking for larger than 1,000 sqft with a budget of $4600

Any suggestions or warnings?

Early 20’s, Bar scene Huntington Beach?

I’m a 23 F looking for a super fun bar scene for Friday night, with people around my age? Good throwback music maybe? Any recommendations?

Storm drain... who do I report this to?

Inoperable storm drain on Graham, between Meadowlark and Edinger (by Meadowlark).
Both routes channeling water to it have been torn up/destroyed.

Help me find my dog please

!!!!Please help me find my dog!!!
SANCHO 8year old lab mix grey in color

Last seen July 11, 2026 at 2:00 AM
Long Beach Del ray Car Wash (4th St and Obispo)

Sancho is a friendly, well-loved dog who went missing after accidentally escaping our backyard when the gate was not fully secured. Earlier that same day, he had just been given a bath, so he was not wearing his collar at the time.

We understand it may seem like an obvious mistake, but this was an honest accident, and we are doing everything we can to bring him home safely. Sancho is very friendly, approachable, and not aggressive. Yes has a microchip Yes, he is registered. Yes we’ve gone in person to the shelters not just looked online.

He lives right next to the car wash in the neighborhood and may still be nearby or trying to find his way back home.

Since he went missing, we’ve been actively searching everywhere. We’ve gone to local shelters, checked nearby areas, and even visited homeless encampments, speaking directly with people in the area to try to track down information about a man who may have taken him. Samantha that I did get regarding this man is that his name possibly is Damien and he is part of the LGBQ community known to be hanging around signal Hill.

We have also been posting across multiple lost pet and community help sites to spread the word as much as possible.

This is being shared so you can help by reposting and spreading the word to reach more people faster. Please keep comments helpful—negativity or criticism about what should have been done is not necessary. Our focus is bringing Sancho home safely.

If you see him or have any information, please reach out as soon as possible. We truly appreciate any help in bringing Sancho home.

Resident parking options in HB

I'm moving to HB off Edinger and looking overnight parking for periodic guests. Normally, would park on the street in the next door neighborhood but realizing they are all permitted for residents. Curious how locals manage this? do people ever rent their guest passes who live in these neighborhood? Appreciate the insight.

Looking for a nice dinner spot

Hi y’all!

My husband and I are planning an overnight trip and I’m looking for a nice dinner restaurant for us. We don’t get to eat out a lot leisurely because we have a toddler so I’m hoping to find something with good cocktails and maybe a rooftop.

I’ve been on yelp and maybe someone could tell me if they recommend Offshore 9 or maybe Jolie? Thank you guys in advance, you guys really do live in a great place and I so appreciate the help!!
