Do guided treadmill workouts actually keep you motivated?

I always ignored guided treadmill workouts thinking they were unnecessary, but lately I’m reconsidering. I get bored pretty quickly doing steady cardio, and I’m wondering if structured sessions actually help with consistency.

Do people stick with them long term, or do they just use them for a short phase and move on?

How important is treadmill customer support really?

I never really thought about warranty or customer support when comparing treadmills. I always focused on specs and features. But I keep seeing people say support becomes important when something eventually goes wrong.

For long-term owners did support actually matter for you or was it irrelevant?

iFit totally amazes me (with their stupidly)

I check occasionally to see if iFit has gotten their head out of the butts and brought back the ability for the lower tier plan to be used on equipment again, but nope. Still doing the same thing.

I also see a ton of people selling off slots, so that means there is a market for it. I don't get why they just don't do what they did before. Individual plan, even at $144/yr is lot more tolerable than the $480/yr that the pro one costs and if you aren't using all 5 slots it makes no sense to have to pay for it.

Oh well.. I just wanted to come on here and vent.

Apple Watch Can’t Connect App to Machine

I’m new to using the Apple Watch. I just got a new tablet for my old RW900 rower because of the recall. I was told it wouldn’t have ifit 2.0 but it does. Since ordering the tablet I’ve gotten an Apple Watch. I’m now trying to use it with the rower and can’t.

My understanding is the way he connects to the phone app which connects to the tablet. But the app can’t connect to the rower. My phone’s Bluetooth won’t recognize the rower and I’ve made sure the phone and rower are both on the same 2.4 network. What am I missing?

Also when I set up the watch app I did not check wrote to Apple health but when I opened it again a saw that checked for a split second. I’ve read that it causes all kinds of problems but I can’t figure out how to get back to that setting. Every time I open the app on my watch it just says to start a workout. There are no controls.

Do people still use treadmill subscriptions after the first year?

Curious how many people here still actively use treadmill subscriptions long term.

Most treadmill brands market the interactive side heavily now, but I wonder how much of that actually sticks once the “new toy” feeling wears off.

Do you still use trainer-led classes/scenic workouts regularly or mostly stick to manual workouts now?

X24 Treadmill Touchscreen (brand new)

Our brand new X24 Treadmill arrived yesterday afternoon (22 hours ago). There was no noticeable damage to the shipping box besides usual scuff marks and my wife and I were both present to watch the unload and movement. We have several pieces of gym equipment already and so assembly is nothing new to us. We watched the video and followed all instructions meticulously to assemble the machine. When we finally turned the treadmill on it went to the language selection screen and was in English so we pushed next. Nothing happened. Tried selecting other languages and the console will randomly respond to touch. Tried tapping “Next” again and tapped all around 100 times and it finally went to the time zone screen. It will not let us select Pacific. Really it seems to only respond to touch in the center of the screen. You can scroll and randomly select time zones in the center but again, no reaction selecting “Next”.

We did all of the troubleshooting we could find - unplug 60 seconds then plug back in; factory reset with the paper clip; unscrew the console mounts and verify the cords are plugged in correctly and not pinched; cleaned the screen; let the machine warm up (it’s Arizona so not cold anyway). NOTHING has worked or made any changes. Of course when we try to contact customer service they’re only open M-F regular business hours.

I am absolutely infuriated with this company right now and thinking about the nonsense we will have to deal with for weeks/months now to fix things. Now we have the entire weekend to keep hoping the console will miraculously work and we can use our $3k machine.

Has anybody else dealt with the situation before and what can we expect now? Any advice/tips dealing with customer service? Thank you.

Newbie question - Apple Watch

Got my first Nordictrack on Tuesday, really enjoying it in most ways, but does the Apple Watch integration just not work? Couldn’t get it to connect (should say T Series 10) to the treadmill for the first few days, but it would connect to the app if I started a workout there (largely useless). Yesterday I uninstalled the watch app and reinstalled it and it worked for my two sessions, HR showing on the screen and watch. Today? Nope. Just the ‘start a workout on your device’ screen on the watch.

Flakey for everyone, or just me? If I can’t get it to work I’ll probably drop iFit after the month and just use it as a dumb treadmill.

Do guided treadmill workouts actually keep you motivated?

I used to think guided treadmill workouts sounded kind of gimmicky, but lately I’ve been reconsidering that.

I get bored insanely fast doing steady cardio, so part of me feels like trainer-led sessions or scenic workouts might actually help with consistency.

Still curious how people feel about it after the initial excitement wears off though.

Do most people keep using iFIT-style workouts long term or eventually go back to manual workouts?

Fitness Tracker / Heart rate monitor

I have a gen 1 Apple Watch SE and I think it’s age is finally catching up to itself. I’m having trouble keeping it connected to my phone which makes it not connect to my Nordic track machine when I use it.

I’m trying to decide if I want a new Apple Watch or if I should try a new fitness tracker that will give me heart rate metrics on my machine. Anyone with recommendations? Preferably one that doesn’t require a subscription

25 Min 5K

Looking for advice/training ideas to help me break 27 minutes in a 5K.

A little background:

  • Male, 50s
  • Most of my running is indoors on a treadmill around 4–5am
  • Using a NordicTrack + iFit
  • Garmin Fenix + Strava for tracking
  • Current focus is consistency and gradually improving pace without getting injured
  • Goal race is later this year

I’m not trying to become an elite runner — just want to become a stronger, healthier runner and hit a sub-27 5K.

For those who have achieved something similar:

  • What program or series would be most beneficial?

Thanks in advance — I’m really motivated to do this the right way.

Getting warranty replacement for x32i - not sure what to do

(reposting from r/nordictrack on the advice of another user there)

My x32i frame cracked after 5 years and Nordictrack is being great so far about honoring the 10-year warranty on the frame. They've offered the x24 or similar credit toward another piece of Nordictrack (NT) or ProForm (PF) equipment.

The trouble is that I'm 6'3" and I don't know if any of the currently manufactured options will work for me from an ergonomic standpoint.

  1. The monitor of the x24 is smaller, but the main issue is that the position of the screen is quite low for me, even at zero incline, where the top edge of the screen comes up to the middle of my chest, and I'm standing fairly close to it. I'd prefer something closer to eye level... I have a wall-mounted TV above the place for the treadmill, but I don't know if I can get an iFit interactive run to show up on that TV while also having iFit controlling the incline and speed of any model of treadmill to match the displayed video.
  2. The 65" belt length of the x32i was great for the long stride I have as a taller person. I'm concerned about losing not just the 5" (the x24 is theoretically 60") but significantly more length because the position of the screen makes the front part of the belt inaccessible (except perhaps at very high incline).

So, while an x24 otherwise might be an upgrade, I'm worried that it will lead me to either hurt myself for one or both of the reasons above. I'd love to know that my concerns are somehow unfounded ... or that there other options I might not be considering (e.g., can a phone both control the speed/incline and show an interactive run on the phone's HDMI output to a TV? Maybe on a NT/PF treadmill without a built-in screen?)

Any thoughts would be most appreciated!
