My m2 Facebook score on iOS 17 (a2761)

Just picked up a used 11-inch iPad Pro M2 on Facebook Marketplace for $550 CAD. Looks barely used and it even has cellular. It’s on iPadOS 17, but LumaFusion and Paper2Audio won’t launch at all. The update screen says I can go to iOS 18 or 26. Has anyone else had this issue with apps on 17 downloading “earlier versions” that don’t work? or am I basically forced to update? Thx, also iOS 18 or 26?

OLED iPad for movies, comparable to OLED TVs?

Hi! I have an 11" M1 pro, so it has the old ips screen. I have a 65" LG G5 in the living room, but sometimes I prefer watching movies and tv shows in bed on the iPad. I saw that the M4 and M5 models also have a Tandem Oled screen now. so the question is for those who own an OLED iPad and an OLED TV as well: is the experience of watching movies on the iPad comparable to the TV? Brightness is similar, and sure while it's a lot smaller, you also literally hold it in front of your face so the field of view ratio might be even more Cinematic.

Anyone have a problem with ERS via AppleCare +

I’m having the worse luck with Apple care via phone support over an iPad Pro 12.9 4th generation… first they had me sit there for weeks until I evoked consumer law. Senior advisor said my item was backordered & boom a few hours later a replacement device is magically on its way. I was skeptical & I should’ve been because they sent me not only the wrong color but a damaged iPad. So I got that replaced after then new senior advisor tells me I would have to pay for it & that she used a cs code to get that replaced as I was promised an appeasement. She straight lied because my Apple care was transferred once that device shipped out. I specified please make sure they send the right color. I get the wrong color again. After back & forth I get a senior advisor who gets a CRU approved only for consumer relations to say no. So now I’m stuck with the wrong color again & a device that lags. I took it to Apple & they gaslit me to update the software even though they seen lagging & major battery depletion. I can’t make this shit up. I did send Tim a complaint I’m not sure if that’s even a thing but I tried. Any tips would be appreciated.

Any good iPad cases to hold in your hand/while lying in bed?

I just got an 11in M2 Pro and I love it, a case would break my heart cause of how beautiful it looks but this is instead breaking my hands lol.

Here’s the thing tho:

- I’m not looking for a stand.

- I’m not looking for something to prop the iPad in.

- I’d love to use it laying down not sitting, holding it with my hands in bed without it falling in my face or killing my hands.

Am I out of luck?

I could just lean it on a pillow or use it in my desk, that’s why I’ve got no use for a stand type case, I just want something that will make holding it more comfortable and easier in bed, but so far I’ve found nothing. I understand iPads were not thought of as handhelds as an iPhone but…

Extra points if the case doesn’t look or is as thick as a war tank.

Nano-texture iPad Pro with heavy Apple Pencil use - how is it holding up?

Hey! For context, I have a MacBook Pro with nano-texture glass and absolutely love it, but I just ordered the glossy iPad Pro. (and it kinda pains me and I'm thinking about returning it haha)

Basically - I went to the Apple Store last week and two employees told me they don't recommend the iPad Pro with nano-texture glass if I’m planning to use the Apple Pencil heavily as it will "wear off" over time and is less durable.

I’ve had my previous iPad Pro since 2018, so this new one is definitely an investment and I’m planning to keep it for a long time. But I also find writing on the glossy screen pretty hard and never liked these screen protectors.

My MacBook Pro screen has held up pretty well overall, but it is definitely harder to clean, and I recently noticed a tiny scratch on the right side. I have no idea how it happened, especially since it’s a screen I basically never touch. It’s actually the first scratch I’ve ever had on ANYY screen on Apple device, so I do think the nano-texture glass is just less durable and I will be touching the iPad screen a lot obviously..

So I’m curious: has anyone here used the nano-texture iPad Pro for lots of drawing / daily Apple Pencil use? Have you noticed any wear, scratches, smoothing, or changes in the texture over time?? And I mean people who have owned their nano for a while now, not just a couple months.

Thank you!!

Addition: I did search before posting! I found one particular post from an artist in this forum saying theirs wore down, but I haven’t found anyone else mentioning it, which is honestly what’s confusing me and made me do this post. If it’s a real widespread issue, wouldn’t there be way more people talking about it? But then two Apple Store employees also told me they wouldn’t recommend nano for heavy Pencil use, so now I’m unsure? Just trying to hear from more people who actually use it for drawing daily. Just found it slightly strange.

The magnetic split-able book cover keyboard is the thing I miss the most after switching from Samsung's Tab series to iPad

I've been trying to find something similar, but no luck.

I wanted a real macOS-like Menu Bar on iPad for productivity, so I built one

I use iPad a lot and always wished there was a tiny floating “desktop-style” menu bar that could stay on screen and show useful info without constantly switching apps.

So I built one using Picture in Picture.

Still very much WIP and actively being developed. English support is already available, and I’m working on more customization and better modules.

Will I have trouble with Applecare+ (previous owner)?

I scored a pretty good deal on M5 11" 512GB wifi model that comes with Applecare+ and only 1 charge cycle. It was surrendered to a used phone shop, thus I got it for 880$. Now I'm worried if I am able to use the care+. I rang Apple so they told me that only the first owner is able to transfer ownership. I do not know if this such rules exist only in SEA. I wanted to at least use it until 2028 to it's fullest but it pains me if it's just a decoration to this device. I really wanted to use paperlike on it but I'm pretty clumsy with my hands. Just a thought in case it fell and cracked.

No computer needed? 13” Nano-Texture Screen, M5 chip, and Multitasking windows make Music Chart prep on the M5 a Breeze - but what do you use the processing power for?

I’ve been blown away by what I can accomplish with only the iPad on hand. I’m able to work much faster with the new multitasking windows on the modern version of iPadOS compared to my 3rd gen iPad Pro. Things are so much snappier with the M5, I can have as many windows as I need on the screen at once (is there a limit to this?), and the nano-texture has enabled me to work effortlessly in some pretty extreme lighting environments.

It has me wondering how other musicians or music administrators are getting the most out of the processing power on this thing. Non-musicians, too: What are you using the processing power for, especially in the 1TB or better versions with the extra RAM?

It’s enough for me that I can read sheet music clearly thanks to the large screen and Nano-Texture cutting out any glare, and that this thing is a flawless second monitor to my MacBook - but outside of that how can I flex this thing for music, or for running a private music lesson school?

Does multitasking as pictured come close to using all that RAM? Is that what it’s for?

Do You Journal in Your iPad?

Recently, I’ve been quite depressed after making a mistake purchasing a house, and I’m already planning an exit in a year or two.

To get me through this patch, I’m thinking about turning to journaling. Do you use your iPad for journaling? What advice do you have on getting started?

Upgrade from Base M4 with cellular to 1tb M4 with cellular and Nano for $350

Hi,

So - I have an opportunity to upgrade from a base 11 inch M4 256 gb + cellular to a new open box 11 inch M4 1tb wifi +cellular with nano screen for 350 usd which will include selling my ipad. Looking at this upgrade for reasons being future proofing tech as i hold onto my iPads for a long time. Last ipad was a PP that I had since 2018, and i think it will be less cost to upgrade rather than buying a base 2 iterations from now. I’m also looking to be able to put AppleCare on this device (I’ll send it back if I’m not able to) as my current one doesn’t have it so I use it less when out and about because of it whereas previous devices with AppleCare I used everywhere. Because I have the base M4 - I already have the Smart Folio, Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil so no additional accessories required.

It’s a personal device that I use sometimes for work (but have a work laptop), photo and video editing (I’m learning at this stage so not heavy), media consumption, web browsing. Also working tonnes with AI for work and personal

At this stage there aren’t any real limitations with my ipad other than AI and video editing taking a while to process and produce results - I haven’t run into any issues/barriers otherwise. It’s a want not a need at this point, and moreso for futureproofing

I’m in Australia, so we don’t get the deals that you do in the US

What do you think - upgrade for that cost for longevity worth it?

S11 Ultra vs Ipad Pro M5

I'm stuck on which one to buy.
The S11 Ultra is going to be £815 and the pro would be £1039. ( I have employee discount).
It's going to be a gift to my girlfriend since she has a chromebook (horrible) and doesn't have anything else to study with.

I'm leaning more towards the Ultra since it's bigger and better for video watching, and also is cheaper and a pen included. However, I do want to get a keyboard case for her too but there's not that many good ones available for the ultra whereas the pro has so many third party cases that was very good.

I'm also considering that she's already using an iPhone right now. She is in university so the ultra seems better for notetaking and multitasking, whereas the ipad will last longer and will be more powerful in the future.

I want to use whichever I get for her for as many years as she can. I do think iPad will at least last 8-9 years with good care.

Well thats a bummer!

201 Charge cycles and 90% battery health . Always charged to 80% and always charged at 20% or above .

Looks like 80% charge limit does nothing . What's your experience ?

Question for those who have or have had the 2018 model and the m1, both 11-inch.

¡Gracias!

Opinions on buying a new iPad Pro m4 to replace the m1 iPad Pro? (Read desc)

Upgrading to a iPad Pro m1 to m4 iPad Pro might sound dumb but my iPad Pro m1 has lots of issues, there are pressurized/stuck pixels on the left and right side and sometimes they aren’t responsive and there’s a yellow tint in the corner. Also the battery is 76% (I used coconut battery) and it lasts around 3 hours. For me I need a good battery cuz I go to high school and I really need good battery.Repairing it would also cost too much and also it’s a 128 gb model and I am out of storage so it would make more sense to upgrade. I would also like to get the m4 because I do not like iPadOS 26 and any sealed iPad Pro m4 would come with either iPadOS 17 or 18. Let me know if that’s a good choice and let me know if the iPad Pro m4 will come with iPadOS 17 or 18 if sealed.
