An SE 2020 as hot spot?

Would it make sense to pay CA$100 for a good condition iPhone SE (red) with BH of 86%?

I need a second phone to use as a hot spot only (125GB data plan) as I don’t want to wear my new 16e with constant connectivity as it heats up the phone.

Would you go with a different model? XR? 12 mini with 5G?

How long does a battery lasts on mint/near mint SE 2022?

Currently I'm an android user but I want to get SE 2022 just because of lots of oblivious reasons. The only thing that pushes me back is battery life. What if I will ruin battery in a year or something because of my usage scenario? It's not only usual calls, messengers, reddit, photos, etc but music with DAC and special audio player app. Soo I'm little worried that battery might spoil pretty quickly :( will the phone serve me a whole day on just only charge?

any help appreciated!!

2nd Gen SE with newer battery- overheating question

I have a 2020 SE (2nd Gen) that overheats specifically when I'm doing all 3 of these things at once: using maps for navigation, podcast playing, and plugged in the car all at the same time (i.e. long road trip situation). I take it out of the case, put in a cooler spot, use low battery mode, and unplug as much as possible, but it still gets really hot. I had the battery replaced last year and it didn't fix it. Is this an unavoidable issue? Would a newer iphone improve this? I have no other complaints about the phone so i only want to replace if it will actually fix the problem. The maps and podcasts and charging are all pretty essential to my road trips, and I have a couple coming up.

Replace Battery With Higher Capacity Or SE 3

I have a SE 2 on 84% battery health and the SOT is very bad like 3 hours. I saw these higher capacity 2210mah batteries online like one from deji. I have seen people post that they get upto 7 or 8 hours with 2210mah battery. Should i change to that or get an SE 3?

Bought a 1st gen for €10

The rest of the phone is in a bit of a rough shape but I couldn’t skip out on it. It keeps rebooting every now and then and battery health wasn’t loading. Coconut battery reports a whopping 100mAh capacity.

I’ll just replace the battery in it as I want to use it as a secondary phone for answering calls and texts and maybe some light mail and telegram.

How large is iOS 26.5 on your SE3?

I did a wipe/restore upgrade to iOS 26.5 a few days ago (not my choice, but Apple Devices soft-bricked the phone when doing regular update). Was a PITA but I thought at least I'd have the benefit of smallest possible iOS and System Data partitions.

As it happens they didn't shrink at all: iOS is 18.74GB and System Data is 9.12GB [edit, just shrunk to 8.8GB).

How large is iOS 26.5 on your phone? I would think that size would be pretty consistent across similar models, and since SE3 does not support Apple Intelligence I'd expect it to be the smallest of all supported models.

System Data is different for everyone, of course, so no real point in comparing that. I'm just surprised that it came back at the same size even after doing wipe/restore. Can't imagine why Apple thinks that it's necessary to back up and restore all of that cruft that is easily re-downloadable when (if) needed!

[edit] Thanks folks for sharing. Seems like 12GB-13GB is normal iOS 26.5 on SE. Mine is 18.74GB. Anyone have any guesses why, or how I can reduce it?

I got my hands on an iPhone SE 4 prototype

I got my hands on a new iPhone SE 4 prototype, excited to share it with you guys.

Smaller size

Because of TSMC’s new 2 nanometer chips, Apple has finally been able to shrink down the iPhone size to fit comfortably in one hand. Remember the days of supercomputers that filled whole rooms? Well one day we’ll feel that way about huge phones that could barely fit in our pockets. Modern technology has helped us shrink the sizes.

Removed the camera bump

Hate your camera bump? Can your phone not lay flat on a surface? Apple has spent billions of dollars engineering the perfect smartphone camera. Now with no camera bump at all. It’s a huge mobile camera breakthrough, in breathtaking 8 megapixels.

New headphones port

Hate turning on your Bluetooth headphones only to have them connect to the wrong 5 devices in your house? The new iPhone SE 4 has a dedicated headphone jack so you can plug your headphones in without thinking about it. It just works.

Introducing the Home Button

Hate having to swipe up to get in and out of apps? Getting carpal tunnel syndrome from it (I legitimately did)? Apple has cleverly invented the home button. One press and you get right back to your Home Screen. Easy. Simple.

Jony Ive design

And finally, design. Remember all those ugly iPhone designs that have no soul? Just a blank slab with cameras that look like a dystopian surveillance device? Finally, one made with a real designer. The brushed stainless steel is exquisite. The buttons are tactile and friendly. It’s modern and classy. Finally, our new phone can be a work of art.

Getting My Clumsy Mum an Older iPhone

So, mio sweet sweet madre currently uses an iPhone 16 Pro (they’re quite expensive in my country) as her daily since the last one or so year.

I can swear to god she is the most clumsy person in the family and the extended one combined. She has used multiple handsets including Android ones and there has not been a single one that hasn’t suffered the wrath of her recklessness.

Expected as it was, yet again she slapped her phone off the dining table. No green lines like Android, no shattered screens like in most cases. 70% of it just disappeared, just vanished into the event horizon of no return. Cost us a bang to have that boy repaired despite doing so at a local shop (they offered to replace the screen at approximately half the price quoted by Apple).

All these years of clumsiness, they make me wonder now if I should just get her an old 2nd hand base model of some old iPhone to use when she’s at home, following her daily routine and tending to her garden like a mad man on a mission? That way, even if she is unfortunate enough to make this one suffer the same fate as well, it being lighter (relatively at least to the Pro and Pro Max models) or being housed in a rugged case should probably make it be able to endure the fall, or even it ends up being scratched/shattered a bit it can still function the way it was intended to.

Both the phones could be linked to the same Apple ID enabling her to receive calls, have her contacts synced and steps counted when on the same WiFi.

I just wanted to know if I’m overthinking this, or if it’s a good idea? If it is, are there any models I should specifically be looking at?

An SE seems lovely for such a use case is what I could gather, hence the reason for this post being here.

Thanks for reading through! ✨

P.S. I’ll add an informative TLDR; If it’s requested. I don’t wanna use AI :p

Battery in se3 (2022)

It suits me The iPhone SE3 is perfect in every way. I want to upgrade to it for its size and convenience, but I'm concerned that, according to reviews, it barely lasts half a day even with a 100% healthy battery, and the external battery It ruins the whole point of this smartphone's compactness. Could you tell me if it's possible to install a larger battery in this phone? Or somehow increase the battery life to at least 4-5 hours of screen time?
