When I started to write stories and scripts, I had only one software to use, "MS Word". Then later on, I discovered many. Here is my top list.
This starts from the last-best to the first-best software. All the software here is on a PC. Free versions can be pirated from FileCR and GetIntoPC.
4. Celtx: The old pocket version of Celtx is the one I used most. The newer version is a premium one that you should subscribe to or buy to write a second and more projects. The newer version is a good website version. has a lot of features, but only with a subscription. The old one is the one i used the most; it is the worst software you could ever use. If you go to my grandma's, you can find that many bugs. (Ps: my grandma died). Don't try the old one; it's more than hell. if need a option to delete this one, you should do it before it eats you vram and kills the GPU before the release of GTA6.
3. Scrivener: it's good software, best for scripts, good for books. But it has many issues with it, like it's so complex not as complex as the old Celtx version, but ok. Writing a book in it is not a good experience may be some practiced hands love it. I loved the folder way of segregation; I can add a research folder, remember folder, and extra. It even had a dustbin folder. Its stats work is good, like the word count, character count, and more. it has a wonderful metadata and copywrite maintainer.
2. Final Draft: I used it once, and I had so many good vibes. Really great UI. Most of the film industry uses this, (i think). it has more complicated tools, that are very useful if you learn it. overall it is really great for scripts and books both. screenplays can be written very effortlessly. (Ps: if some one tried this please comment how it really is, in your perspective) it has a really good copyright and metadata maintainer.
1. THE MS WORD: The OG of all time, all time favorite. tools are peak. UI is one of the best. People might think me as I am praising my grandma, although she passed way very hardly. But the truth is MS Word keeps itself in time like my grandpa who started chasing young girls (Ps: not too young) Well, I will give a huge applause for the team, MS Office for this gem. All those very needed tools, new Ai enhanced features are really really great. with the customization option that out win all the other software. In most other option they need update and enhance the user experience. I now personally use MS Word for my stories. as i love it more, more and more. I feel like Nikki for MS Word.
