went to mj party last night ㅡ most people dispersed when songs from invincible were played🥀

went to mj party last night ㅡ most people dispersed when songs from invincible were played🥀

a little rant and sharing on my part yall

the songs were 'unbreakable' and 'butterflies.' people immediately exited the dance floor and took breaks which i found crazy because more people were dancing when 'ben' came out. ngl my heart breaks a little when that happened. 'you rock my world' received a better reaction but other than that, the rest of the songs from invincible album were pretty much considered 'yeah it's time to take breaks from dancing' even though most of the songs are so high-energy

when i talked to a few people that invincible is my favourite album of his, their reactions were mostly 'oh thats alright i dont judge people based on what they like' 🫩 so i had fun but not as much fun as i hoped it would be. it hits me hard that invincible was and still is being received poorly by many. it led me to a conclusion that im grateful for the online community in which i can share my love for invincible with🤍

i wish i could invite yall to have an mj/invincible-themed party cause i would love to organise one very much given the chance. if you made it this far, thankyou for reading my thoughts

ps: this picture plus his sharp eye-contact with the camera is GORGEOUS

I built a free research archive about the making of Invincible — sourced timeline, files on everyone involved, and a tool to rank the tracklist

Invincible has been my favorite album since I can remember, and I think it's the most misunderstood record in his catalog. I could never find anything that actually documented how it actually got made and I believe that it deserved more. So over the last several months, I built it.

It's a full research archive: a sourced timeline of the whole story in four phases, a file on every track, files on everyone who worked on it, a vault of the unreleased material, and a research page where every single claim on the site tells you exactly what it's sourced from and how solid that source is. There's also Rank the Record, where you settle the tracklist head-to-head, two songs at a time, and get your own ranking to share.

It's styled like a fan site from 2001, basically the companion site the album never got. It's completely free – no ads, nothing for sale, no photos used (that's a deliberate choice). I just wanted this to exist.

invinciblefiles.com

Mods gave me the okay to share it. I would genuinely love to know what you think. And if you spot something I got wrong, tell me and I'll fix it. There's a corrections log on the site and I'd rather be corrected than be wrong.

The title track from the album is one of the best songs he ever did

Always really liked this one when i was a kid. Probably the most self centered and full of himself yet desperate he's ever been in a song besides Give In To Me and it is executed so well. The pre-chorus is one of my favorite things he has ever done, it's so addicting.

Rodney Jerkins production thoughts?

All the invincible tracks, the jerkins songs on Xscape, and any unreleased songs are probably out there or not but the available tracks on Invincible and Xscape are quite good tbh

Definitely loved Michael working with him on Invincible to create a new sound for this album which Michael successfully did with a quite cutting edge digital sound plus his signature touches vocally.

This person made one of the best Michael Jackson invincible tour concepts

This would be a good thing to see, and it will truly feel like a farewell tour, but of course, due to the people who criticize Michael for being a creep we never got this.

i hate that mottola is one of the few people who got to hear break of dawn for the first time

do you know that break of dawn was originally supposed to be a single and? and there was a plan for music video but was cancelled due to invincible being 'underperfoming' ?

there is an alternate universe out there where invincible is thriving. sony got exposed but did better instead of boycotting michael and his work. we got to see break of dawn music video and possibly many others from the album. a live performance with invincible set list. but a girl can dream i suppose.

I think he looks really good with short hair. Do you know the reason behind it why he cut it short? It’s actually so sad 🤧
