Best books on Stonewall or LGBTQIA+ history

Looking for recommendations of worthwhile, realistic and honest accounts of LGBTQIA+ struggles from the 1950s through the 1990s. If this has been covered before I'd appreciate an episode number or show notes link. Thanks!

Patriot Front stages DC march on 4th of July

Nothing celebrates the US like marching through DC on the 4th of July with flags from a treasonous rebellion and upside down American flags chanting 'reclaim America.'

How these traitorous fucks ever got branded as 'patriots' is beyond me.

Bush did 9/11

I’m listening to TrueAnon’s episodes 1-4 on “Bush did 9/11” and trying to remember what episode(s) Robert or James said something dismissive about inside-job conspiracies about 9/11. I’d guess Gare has said something, too.

I listen to CZM way more and have trust in them thanks to what I think is strong reporting, and TA is newer to me, and at least Liz describes herself as a tinfoil hat kinda person. So, just want to compare what these podcasters (lol) all think. The TrueAnon episodes do cover a lot of convincing evidence. And the tactic of “fund/help/encourage an extremist group, get an attack, use it as an excuse to be more powerful/controlling/violent” is familiar from several colonial governments…

feel free to share what you think too but I am specifically looking for what our more-informed-than-me journalists think

edit to say: my bad, the provocative title is misleading the convo toward "a conspiracy of actors directly executed a thing" rather than "a conspiracy of actors wanted an outcome and helped create the situation that would enable that outcome"
also, TrueAnon is talking to Ben Howard on the episodes, his writing is here https://www.housetrotter.com/writing

Does anyone know of any good Spanish leftist/anarchist podcasts?

I know democracy now has a Spanish broadcast but I personally don't know of any others. I'm also aware of the Pie de Nota pod but I haven't watched enough of their YouTube channels w captions to even tell really what kinda views they hold lol. Seems maybe leftist tho, or mainly Mexican political news, with a progressive leaning... maybe not even, idk 😅

We may be heading back to a reality where the disabled are institutionalized against their will

From the article:

Last month, the Department of Education announced it would shift oversight of special education to the Department of Health and Human Services, led by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whose comments on the limits of disabilities such as autism have drawn sharp rebukes from advocates and lawmakers.

Meanwhile, after a White House push to police homelessness, the Department of Justice released guidance that lowered the barrier to institutionalizing any person with a disability.

Taken together, the actions signal a worrying return to a reality where people with disabilities are pushed to the margins of society

Attacks on Trans Folks in SF during Pride

San Francisco Pride weekend always starts with Trans March, which is actually a resource fair and chill march. But last weekend (6/26), a radical contingent paintballed some Flock cameras at the end of the march. SFPD responded violently (you can see partially in the link).

The next night (Saturday 6/27) there was a queer and trans block party that SFPD also violently disrupted.

The DA has now brought felony charges against some participants including felony vandalism and battery on an officer against someone who spit on a cop.

I need folks to understand that San Francisco is in our Giuliani era, and these incidents are just the latest in a string against protesters. Please keep an eye on our DA.

"Biological sex has no concrete basis in biology"? Anyone care to enlighten me a little

Quote from Gare in ED. I hope yall don't assume I'm just anti trans for not instantly agreeing with Gare. I just can't because I am v uneducated on trans matters, which is why I'm here asking..... literally in good faith, why this quote is true?

I know how reddit works tho, not to mention online leftists generally, so let the downvotes commence!

Belfast Riots-Potential Further Context

I‘ve been listening to the first episode on Belfast from last week, and it’s made me think of something:

Somehow, at some point, I signed into Quora with my Google account to view a post or yell at someone who was being particularly stupid or some-fucking-thing, I genuinely have no idea; but ever since then I’ve been getting emails from them suggesting posts, and because I’m especially susceptible to clickbait, sometimes I open them.

A few months ago, I remember seeing this rash of horrible, racist troll comments about immigrants in the UK; people claiming to be Muslim and saying that they wanted to enact Sharia Law (I highly doubt whoever posted that even knows what that means), highlighting violent crimes supposedly committed by Scary Brown Immigrants, things of that nature. I know that Quora isn’t particularly big or influential, as far as social media websites go, but it is a place that people go to get information, and I feel like the kind of people who are going to be part of a racist riot are not necessarily going to be thinking critically about things that support their worldview. It just reminds me of that ethnic cleansing in India that got started on WhatsApp, or the Facebook-linked genocide in Myanmar. Very scary to see and it feels like it might be important, at least in the interest of documentation.

Removing Chaplain rank insignia- one step closer to troop in the street

DOD Press release.

Here's why this matters. All chaplains are officers. The average troops sees O-3-O-5 (Capt. to Lt. Col in the Army, AF and USMC. Lt to Cmdr in the Sea Services) For the most part, rank is meaningless when people are seeking guidance and many chaplains minimize it when communicating with the troops. But still, they are officers and they work for other officers; admirals and generals.

When the illegal orders are given and a senior chaplain stands up and says "this is wrong", the bling on his uniform will matter. This order will diminish that impact.

Maine Counties

It’s always fun when someone not from here talks about Maine to hear all the mispronunciations. I’m sure it happens with every state, but I figured “Penobscot” and “Hancock” were pretty straightforward. Good episode as usual otherwise

An Update From Belfast

Today's episode by Lee Hurley is great. This is exactly the kind of coverage I come to ICHH for.

Any recommendations for more coverage on what happened in Belfast this month?

Leftist groups that could use stamps?

I hope this isn't too off-topic, but it is in the spirit of the show and I thought the posters here might have ideas for me, as I am coming up blank. My uncle amassed a large stockpile of stamps (not forever stamps, most are around 30 cents.) He can no longer live independently, and we are cleaning out his apartment. I've been tasked with finding a person or group doing work he would approve of to donate them to. Doesn't need to be an official non-profit, just a group who would appreciate the donation.

He is a leftist/union guy. He was kicked out of his first college for protesting the politically-motivated denial of tenure to a marxist historian professor. He wrote his PhD dissertation on union organizing in steel factories, but ended up pausing that for about 15 years to work in said factories. He is a voracious reader so a small leftist press could work, too. I would really appreciate any ideas. Bonus if the group is based in Chicago or LA. Thanks!
