DJS Advice?

I am very confused. I have a recessed face, but my bite is perfectly fine. I hate my side profile and have for years. I have sleeping issues, but tested negative for sleep apnea. I also don’t have TMJ. For aesthetic purposes would you recommend consulting for DJS, or looking into getting implants, or just a rhinoplasty. I’m not sure what route to take. Thanks in advance.

What is recovery like for plate and screw removal post djs in your late 30s/early 40s?

I’m planning to fly back to Seoul, Korea to get my plates and screws removed from the OMFS who performed my surgery. Would love to hear people’s experiences of hardware removal, esp from anyone aged 35+!

  1. How much down time did you need after the surgery? As in, how many days were you completely non-functional?

  2. How would you compare the swelling from this surgery to the original djs?

  3. When you were 100% healed, did you notice a change in your appearance after this procedure compared to what you looked like after the initial surgery? Particularly around nose area?

  4. Good/bad/neutral idea to get plates and screws removed while braces are still on?

  5. Any prolonged numbness, pain, unusual sensations after the procedure?

Context: i’m an Asian F in my late 30s, and my recovery post djs didn’t reflect what I read online at all. Apparently, Asian people suffer a longer healing process from surgeries like this compared to caucasians, due to thicker skin and more intense edema. Post dj + ASO durgery (4 months), I am still swollen asymmetrically, my philtrum is still very swollen/long, and my teeth hurt to the point where it’s painful to brush them gently. My surgeon overcorrected my underbite as well as damaged a nerve (potentially due to going overboard on the genioplasty or the ASO) and I was forced to get two root canals in my bottom two canines in the US due to nerve death. I’m paranoid he might have damaged more teeth..

I know surgeons in the US say that plates and screws don’t require removal, but I can feel the screws in my face distinctly and they bother me. My face feels sore around them, and I am suspicious they are widening my alar width due to their placements (but that could just be from the lefort I?). I also wanted to get RF/ultrasound skin treatments into my routine, and I know that’s not possible with the hardware in my face.
