Any good gyms nearby?

Hey all, recently moved to the neighborhood and looking for a gym to call home. Less concerned about fancy equipment, more about vibe, ideally a place with a solid community, not a meathead/toxic energy, somewhere people actually talk to each other and it doesn’t feel like everyone’s in their own bubble.

Any spots you’d recommend? Appreciate it!

25M in Kew Gardens looking for a genuine connection

I live in Kew Gardens near the LIRR and work as a software engineer in Manhattan. Outside of work I enjoy traveling (especially old European cities, castles, ruins, and history), trying new restaurants, gaming, walking around the city, and having conversations that somehow jump from topic to topic.

I'm looking for a woman who's interested in building something real. Respect, honesty, kindness, and good communication matter a lot to me. I believe that if we have that, we have no limits.

Fun fact: after six summers of research and practice, I've developed a watermelon-picking method that's well over 90% successful. I will absolutely defend this claim.

If you're nearby and think we'd get along, I would love to talk and see where things go.

(I spoke with the mod in advance to confirm I'm not breaking any rules and being respectful of the space as there are proper people here)

Help me

Hi everyone,
I’m going to be moving to Kew Gardens since I found a good rental in a nice building.
Since I haven’t been in NYC for very long, I’m a bit anxious because it’s quite close to Jamaica, which makes me feel a little uneasy.
I usually come back home at night (before midnight) from Manhattan and take the Long Island Rail Road.
I wanted to ask what the safest route is from the Long Island Rail Road station to 115th Street close to forest park!
Thanks

Is the LIRR station safe at night?

I’m thinking of going to Queens for the 4th July and taking the LIRR from Kew Gardens back to Manhattan sometime after 9pm. Will it be safe?

Update: it was not crowded and I didn’t see any diners from the bar next to it. All the businesses seemed closed. It was kind of desolate but there were people walking down the street. By the time the train came there were about 7 people on the platforms.

Hi, I’m looking for infant daycare starting at 5-6 months old in January or February 2027. Preference to be close to the Kew Gardens LIRR station. Thank you!

New medical office + beauty spa off corner of Metropolitan and 83rd Ave

Between the discount store and pharmacy, where I think a barber used to be. I mean, that’s fine and all I guess. Better than another smoke shop or hair salon. I wouldn’t mind having an ‘elevated’ new PCP but I don’t think I’m really part of their target demographic.

Kew Kensington Court - Greenery being systematically removed

As you can see in this photo I found online from 2007, this building used to be surrounded by greenery. There was a line of green shrubs along the front facing Union Turnpike and a row of trees along the Austin side. The shrubs were all removed and now most of the trees on the Austin side have been cut down and the ground paved over.

It's honestly sad to see such old trees removed and replaced with such austere, empty grounds.

Village Diner

Anyone try it since it switched owners? I went when the previous owners ran it and it was pretty subpar. Curious if it's gotten better or if Classic Diner is still the best around.

Anyone know this building? The Grosvenor / The Parker

We're looking at apartments and came across this building (there are a couple units in it)
https://streeteasy.com/building/the-parker/7b

The Parker / The Grosvenor at 116-09 Grosvenor Lane

Wondering if anyone can share their experience living there. A couple reviews were bad but it's hard to tell if those were individual experiences or representative of the building management as a whole.

One thing that stood out was a comment about exceptionally high utility bills. Would love to hear your thoughts if you have experience with this property.
