Over the last few years, artists in Germany have faced increasing pressure to stay silent on the genocide in Gaza — while Kneecap have been one of the most outspoken musical groups around. It is perhaps no surprise, then, that it took them until this week to make their first visit to the country. The band that took the stage in Berlin has a long list of enemies: Keir Starmer famously called them "completely intolerable", but they've also been banned from Canada and Hungary, had their album title deemed too provocative for the London Underground, and seen band member Mo Chara charged with a terrorism offence.
The new worker-owned magazine HEIST spoke to the band in an exclusive backstage interview, just before they took the stage in Berlin for a secret show for just 300 people.

Mo and Moglai were both yelling “fucking play it now!”, I thought that meant they were doing an encore but we never got an encore. Which left me a bit confused about the whole thing.

So, I made a post on here about people going to Crystal Palace park on their own. It gained traction and ended up an Instagram chat. The result was meeting a bunch of pure legends, the group chat voice notes are epic with all the different accents, this group are from all over the world America, New Zealand, Ireland, Germany, different parts of England! We all spent the day together, saw Kneecap and had the best fucking day ever.
I also gave baby Eira a highland cow, met Dannyfuckingprice, went in the pit with Mike Rice for the Recap and I have no words to describe how forever happy I am because of this day.
I'm in Eiras latest insta post which got reposted on Kneecaps insta story, I'm hungover n vulnerable on the train home and overwhelmed to fuck!!!
Kneecap fans will always be fuckin top, I hope they legit make a Fenian Fest and do it every year because I can't bare to think about not doing this again!!!!!!
