Wally fractured his cannon bone
Likely from blunt force playing in the pasture but he will be on stall rest for 6 weeks. He doesn’t seem to be showing pain but he was due for x rays and and they saw it.

Ethel is such a cool horse for so many reasons but she’s also such a cool example of just because a horse was trained for one thing and didn’t do well doesn’t mean they have no value. Ethel had a lot going against her- an injury from inappropriate training methods, ROUGH western pleasure movement, and a genetic factor that leads to the passing of any colts she produces.
But over the last two years we have seen Ethel flourish. First as a recip carrying and mothering a foal who is confident and a little spit fire. And now as a youth ammy horse who is giving everyone the confidence to keep growing. With Becca’s kids in the western and English events, now with Becca, and with Katie in the ranch classes. She’s so versatile and tolerant of what people ask of her. Ethel truly is worth her weight in gold
I'm prefacing this by saying that I don't know anything about live covering or mini horse breeding. I saw the video today of Ruler chasing Janice and I was wondering if his behavior is normal? Was he trying to wear her down because she wasn't being receptive? Is this normal courtship behavior for minis? I'm just looking for some more insight because as someone who doesn't know the behaviors, it looks like a situation that could end in one of the minis getting hurt or sick, but I understand that my uneducated thoughts dont necessarily reflect the reality of the situation
Ok we know she said she wanted to take off some inches and change the color. But who thinks she actually went this far? That's a lot of shades lighter from what she had. I also know she's had trouble keeping up with bangs in the past ...
What's your vote?
He’s beautiful!!
I’m not a horse professional but woodys legs look weak or unsound while walking into the barn today? Anyone else notice that?
I love Margot and Cheyenne. They’re so precious. Who of all Kennedy babies we know of is your fav. Since I only know four, I’d say Denver
I saw this wonderful post on FB from someone who bred their mare Stella to Denver for a 2027 baby and her write-up of why she chose him got me wanting to have an earnest discussion. As we see more mares bred to Denver and follow along with his babies on the ground like Gunner and my personal fav Ella: what do you think he brings to the table? Why pick Denver? Who should be breeding to him?
There's a lot of talk about him having pig eyes and a diaper butt, sure. If you have actual analysis about his qualities and bring those points in, great -- but I'm interested in going a little deeper than "he's ugly" or "he's nice," like this person did in her analysis of Stella's shoulder and gait and how Denver could help address those shortcomings.
Super interested in seeing more mares bred to him too as we discuss, with names cropped out if unverified! So interesting to see who's picking him.
Katie got a new car. And since following tafts fb page I notice he racks up miles a lot driving to different shows.
So what’s the criteria I guess horse owners/ trainers look for when getting a car to do those long mileages. What’s the perfect car.
Like when you go to a dealership and the salesperson asks how can I help you find a car? What would a horse owner/ trainer who travels cross country using said car say. Idk if I’m making sense but like I’d want to know since it seems like those trucks would take a beating hauling trailers, horses and traveling hundreds of miles on a regular/ semi regular basis
I keep seeing a lot of comments like this ”this will stop people sharing Katie’s foals in the future.” Or like “I’m gonna miss seeing them when I leave”. Or many other ways of saying the same thing. And I’m like I don’t care either way. Like I don’t follow any of the current owners now. I follow the trainers cuz I’d like to see them show. But I also like seeing the other horses trained with them. I follow Aaron, Taft and Keith. But not the owners. If their vids pop up on my fyp I watch and comment but don’t seek it out.
At this point let the owners be. Let the horses be.
But she’s doing fine now. She’s in recovery at Colorado. No idea how she got injured. But glad she’s ok
Katie's slip of the tongue and almost saying pony pimping in the most recent video had me DYING. I mean....she wouldn't be totally wrong.
Did anyone notice the errors in Katie’s YouTube video today? I immediately noticed 😂
I've never shared formally cause I wasn't sure if there was interest, but after seeing a post asking about it and knowing not everyone looks at comments, I thought I would share it here!!

Let me know if there are issues with the link- every one of Katie's horses should have a birthday, barn name, and registered name (if applicable). I started adding birthdays for other horses when I was doing the "birthday twins" posts earlier this year, but I didn't get all the way through, and I just left most of them as January for record keeping purposes. I purposely did not include barn names for horses not owned by Katie at some point. Some horses, like the paints, Charlotte, thoroughbreds, etc won't be able to be easily added until they have babies with a stallion on the tree and I wanted to keep it as concise as possible while still showing relations.
(📷 of Moose from Ironwood)
Ironwood shared yesterday, Moose had a catastrophic pasture accident resulting in a broken front leg. He was able to be splinted very quickly by a vet, and go in for scans but it was determined that the break was severe enough that it would be extremely unlikely that he would even be pasture sound (5% chance).
With those odds, they let him go.
Horses are fast, and heavy and powerful-- which can be devastating in just the wrong moment with physics get involved.
This should be a solemn reminder that *even with the best of everything*, shit can happen that *no one* expects and it is no one's fault.
The mod team wishes good thoughts and warm feelings for everyone at RS and Ironwood who loved Moose and knew him.
Has anyone recently made a family tree for Katie’s horses? I’ve had a search and I can only find the mini TikTok series Katie did in 2023. Weird niche I know but I absolutely love looking at and studying family tree’s. I’ve made them for my own horses in so much detail it takes months of researching lineages and when I see horses online I instantly recognise if they’re related to my ponies now😂 I feel Katie’s are all almost-related some how so would love to see how they all tie together!
Scrolling through FB, I saw this post a little bit ago. Isn't VS Flatline (Kobe) owned by Chandler Marks?
I don't know if this is a banned topic here, tried to go through the rules and didn't catch anything, so I'm just gonna say it.
"Have been crying for hours"
See this bothers me. I know people can get VERY attached to something that's not even real, not to mention celebrities or, well, whatever block these KVS horses fall into.
Is this just attention seeking? I honestly think for the most part yes. But damn if you really, actually CRY and do it for a leght of time for something or someone you never actually knew.. I'm sorry but at that point is time to take a step back and seek some help.
Or is it just me being cold or something, just a different personality? Ofc I feel for the people who it touches and I have also felt bad for some celebrity deaths (and some tv show/movie/book charecters too), but crying? Being "devastated"?
Is this where humanity has come to that we live so strongly through something that doesn't really even actually affect our lives we crash for that? Escapism gone too far?
I'm not native English speaker so please excuse my grammar. :)
