When the dog sitter stays at your house

As “pawrents”, we were nervous to have someone stay at our house while we were out of town. How would the dog react? How would she treat our baby? All that stuff.

After seeing this clip, I think I’ll have her back the next time we travel.

Poor Luna got another dad haircut...

Before and after of my fur baby. She doesn't super enjoy the process, and I always have to get after those mats that form between her paw pads. She wasn't spicy with me for too long afterwards, but she did give me the stink eye for a bit. :)

Unknown Gastrointestinal Issues - Anyone Else?

My seven year old, 50 lb doodle started experiencing a bunch of gastrointestinal issues out of the blue last week. It started with him being unsettled, pacing, laying down and immediately getting back up. The next day he threw up (not completely uncommon for him, he’s always had a sensitive stomach but this settled down about 1.5 years ago when we switched to Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Stomach dry kibble). His energy level completely plummeted.

It was pretty obvious he was in pain so I took him to the vet and they ran basic bloodwork and took X-rays but everything came back normal. He’s scheduled for an abdominal ultrasound next Wednesday at another clinic, which was the earliest they could book him in.

He is currently taking Gabapentin for pain management and Sulcrate for nausea. Since going to the vet the first time he now refuses to eat his dry kibble (he’s the kind of dog that’s never missed a meal in his life). I’ve switched him to the wet food version and he’s eating about half the daily amount he should be. I’m also throwing in some boiled chicken and rice.

More troublingly he stopped drinking (took him back to the vet to check for dehydration - he was fine) and he seems to be getting by with extra water mixed into the wet food as the vet advised.

Today I’ve noticed that he’s not using his back legs as actively as he used to. He’s been on the Gabapentin for four days so I don’t believe it’s due to that anymore.

Has anyone had a doodle go through something similar? I realize it could be caused by just about anything right now, from an ulcer to cancer, but I’m spiralling a bit in my helplessness until he can get that ultrasound.

9 month old Labradoodle 🐾

I got him when he was literally like 6 weeks old. He’s now 9 months and he’s so big. I wasn’t expecting him to be 55lbs but here we are. I love him so much. 🥰

My baby Benji is underweight

Hi everyone. I'm new to this sub. This is Benji. He joined our family in May and he is a perfect angel (I'm not even joking, he's the best dog I've ever met).

The problem is the vet says he's underweight by 10 pounds and when I pet him, his ribs feel too prominent. He's 70 pounds right now and the vet said he should be 80-85 pounds. I bought the Purina food the vet suggested and Benji hasn't gained any weight. He eats grass so I think his tummy must hurt.

The vet didn't find any problems so I think I'm not giving him the right food. I've been reading online (that's how I found this sub) and it sounds like this breed has some stomach sensitivities especially to birds.

What food do you all suggest to help him gain weight and not have tummy pain? I don't mind cooking for him if he needs me to. Please drop your recipes if you have them and please tell me what foods you feed your pups.

Stella had the best time on Drummond Island!

When your vacations revolve around your dogs, I wouldn’t have it any other way. My girl 🥹❤️

So, there was this varmint that ran under the deck and I went to get him...

Sadly, this happened more than once.

SNAKE!

He missed the "No Snakes In The House" sign.

If he looks like the same goofball in this post, you're right. Inside or outside. He doesn't care where his AYFKM moments happen. Gotta love doodles.
