I'm obsessed with magnetics

All I do now is magnetic for every mani 😩

I really love this color, just can't figure out if it's good on me or if it washes me out? Anyways, it's so pretty, 10/10 would recommend

Nailtiques - Formula 2 x 1

Holo Taco - Sticky Base Coat x 1

Glitch Lacquer - Protect The Dolls x 2

Sally Hansen - Insta-Dri Top Coat x 1

First glass bead attempt

I just did it manually with the round end of the free Mooncat magnetic wand, in circles around the nail perimeter for like 2 minutes each. Next time I’m going to try out the twirling the wand with the large end pointing down method, and then hit it with base coat before top coat several hours after that. It doesn’t totally suck but it’s not great, either, obviously. My other hand …basically just looks like velvet unless you look at it from a very specific and weird angle. 🙄

1 coat Mooncat Speed Demon tc
Pura d’Or organic jojoba oil

dupe for dvn stagnant water?

hey y'all, i recently found out about death valley nails possibly having maga ties. as a result, i'm no longer interested in supporting them. however, i've had my eye on this shade for months, and i'm desperate for a dupe. the photo is from their website. it's a spring green jelly with matte green glitter of various sizes and a pink iridescent shimmer. i want it so bad, i'd even buy some loose glitter and mix up a dupe myself it i could find a close enough match. all suggestions welcome!

Essie Wilder Than I Seam

I don’t usually go for bright pinks but this caught my eye on the shelf with its purpley tone and it’s so pretty on! Used Essie Start Stronger base coat (always my go-to), 2 coats Essie Gel Couture Wilder Than I Seam and followed up with Essie Speed Setter top coat.

Bees Knees Shrinkage

I am just wondering if anyone else has issues specifically with the Bees Knees formula and shrinkage? I have been using cuticulas limitless quick dry top coat and I feel like they are maybe just incompatible. This is the second shimmer/metallic I’ve used from BKL that ended up this way and I’m going insane. I NEVER have this issue with any other polish. I have quite an established routine for preventing shrinkage and can make a manicure go 7-10 days.

I may try another top coat, maybe holo taco, I have plenty of other top coats to try but was curious if it’s just me.

My perfect pink!

(Repost, the picture didnt show right) I have been looking for the perfect pink, and none of them were ever right… too sheer, not sheer enough, not milky enough. I figured it out on accident tho! I used 2 coats of the sally hansen repair+rescue (the pinkish one) and put hi maintenance by essie over it. I was going to do 2 coats of that but one is LITTERRAALLYYY perfect! I cant wait to put a top coat on this.

What is THE BEST treatment polish (like Nail Veil)?

I am terrible at painting my nails and also have weak, sad nails that really need extra TLC. I like treatment polishes like Londontown’s Kur Nail Veils. (OPI’s Nail Envy treatment polish sadly let me down).

In your opinion, what is the best, most foolproof of these products? Bonus for even, non-streaky application and some nice pink shades.

I've finally found my milky white polish!

I have been searching and searching for a milky white polish that doesn't streak and leave patches, and I've finally found it!

At first, I didn't like it because I was applying it with too much pressure on the brush, leaving "bald" patches. I figured out that I need to float the polish onto my nail and not manipulate it a whole bunch. I also figured out that I needed to let it dry longer between coats so the second coat didn't drag the one underneath out of place. Once I got the technique right, it was super easy to apply and, like with all of EdM's polishes, it's buttery smooth!

This polish is so elegant looking and it's great for a nice, simple manicure.

Products Used -

Base Coat: Essie Strong Start x1

Color: Emily de Molly Sheer Tint Blanc x2

Top Coat: Sally Hansen Insta Dri (red bottle) x1

I hope everyone is having a great Saturday, and I hope y'all have a fantastic rest of your weekend!

Is it just me?

I got a bunch of Mooncat lacquers (okay, 4) during the sale, along with ridge filler & speed demon. I’ve used 2 of them twice and 2 of them once. (And speed demon several times.)

So is it just me or do they just start getting thick and gummy after you open the bottle? They all went on smoothly and gorgeously the first time, but the 2 that I’ve used twice were both a serious pain to apply the second time. AND the speed demon is starting to get really gummy as well (and not doing its job very well, either). I’m doing everything the same as I did the first time I applied them.

Just feeling really discouraged because I absolutely cannot afford this lacquer, I used birthday money for it, and even on sale it’s pricey. I love the colors - but I’m not going to bother saving for anymore if this is a common problem.

Sorry for the novel.

Cracked Scorchy Skittle

I originally had other plans for today's mani, but a fiery skittle using some new untrieds seemed like the way to go! Full product list will be in the comments!

Dinosaur bones get manis, who knew?

To round out summer vacation, I took my tween on a private lab and archives tour with a paleontologist at our local natural history museum. We got to see more real dinosaur bones than I’ve ever imagined in my life, help clean a few, and even hold some! It was amazing, highly recommend a similar experience if you find one near you!

During the tour, I asked the paleontologist how the bones were “finished” once they were full excavated and cleaned. He told me many are coated in Polyvinyl Acetate.

“Ah! Like nail polish base coat!” I replied. My son rolled his eyes 🤣 but yes, paleontologist confirmed, the very same stuff.

Who knew dinosaurs were so fancy?
