What is the best internet provider for the area? I’m on Diversey and my Xfinity has gone out 3x this week…

My regular dog sitter had to cancel on me due to apartment flooding. I would appreciate any dog sitter recommendations to watch my lab/pit mix in their apartment later this week!!

Just a heads up, little tunnel that goes under Lakeshore Drive towards the lake and Jarvis conservatory is flooded. It's definitely not traversable, it's almost waist deep/at the railing height due to the recent rains. Anyone who's trying to get over to that side should either drive there, or go through Irving Park/ Belmont because those streets won't have that happening? I assume other underpasses have the same issues!

Anyone have a place they love? Recommendation. Love all food tbh so down for place and meal recs. Love and happy July 3rd

Yesterday I felt like escaping the house to work somewhere else since I’ve been cooped up inside with the heat these past few days.

I ventured out around 1pm, and it took three coffee shops before I found any open tables. I tried Aura, then Roggenart, then ended up at Owen’s, where I couldn’t even concentrate and decided I’d rather just work from home lol.

For those of you working from coffee shops regularly, what time do you usually get there to snag a table?

I work remote a good amount and got tired of the gamble every time I try a new cafe: is there an outlet free, is the wifi actually fast enough, will I get the stink eye after two hours. So I built WindyDesk, a small site where people rate spots on outlets, wifi, noise, seating, and food, kind of like Beli but for work spots instead of restaurants.

Only have 3 spots rated so far, so it's pretty bare right now. Chicago-only and a one-person side project, so I'd love for people in this sub to add their go-to work spots or rate ones already up there. Any bugs or feedback also welcome.

Does anyone know if something is going on tonight on Broadway right near Briar? Lots of sirens and horns over the past couple of hours.

It’s been hours since the pride parade so I know it’s not that.

I get closing them to traffic—there’s thousands of people in the street, but why are pedestrians trapped behind barricades on narrow sidewalks unable to cross at any intersection in Lakeview right now? I’m on my fifth alternate route home right now and just got turned around by police.

Edit: I’m asking why pedestrians aren’t being allowed to use the already closed off street—as they would be able to when they close Hubbard on weekends.

Watching Supergirl at the 7 PM showings the Century Landmark on Clark! I’ll be hanging out by the theater bar to socialize and chat about the movie! I originally posted about seeing it earlier though received more interest than I thought and rescheduled to accommodate availability.

I am looking for a detail oriented contractor who can complete the job in a timely fashion which is important to me. The job is simple and straightforward. Also I am picky.

Last renovation took two years for a kitchen remodel. Never, never again! This time I expect the work to be completed in the time frame quoted in writing.
