Remember the AI data center battle in Columbia?

The Columbia Borough Council meeting is tomorrow at 7:00pm at Borough Hall, 308 Locust Street.
Council members will be voting on an ordinance to regulate data centers.

Eric Kauffman (council prez) will TURN PEOPLE AWAY AFTER THEY COUNT 48 BODIES. He knows the high school auditorium is available, but says it will “cost too much”.

Agenda is here: https://ecode360.com/CO0213/document/753267237.pdf

Xfinity outage

Anyone have any insight on when xfinity will have internet up and running again?....i work from home and had to take off today and it's looking like ill have to again tomorrow. Cant seem to get ahold of anyone who can give me a time frame. The outage map just says restoration will be "as soon as possible" and its been like that since Saturday evening.

I know power is more important but just asking in case anyone knows anything else!

Places to shower

Im one of the unlucky ones in the west end who still is without power, I have to work tomorrow, and it's construction, so I will be sweating. I'm the one who was suspended from Millersville, so I obviously can't ask them for help, is there any place that might be open. I'd rather not pay for a hotel room for. a couple of nights, since I'm trying to watch my money.

Park City Mall, weird guy around kids.

Firstly Im usually not the type to be observant of my surroundings, but I was out with my niece today and while we were eating some food and playing on the toy cars (the moving ones?) I noticed this guy in a black hoodie+black sweatpants, hood up, by himself just circling the play area, while hard staring at my niece and another one of the little girls at the table next to me. I made my boyfriend aware but after I did, I made eye contact with the dude and he started getting closer and closer while hard staring at my niece so we just packed up and left.

I kept a note on him the entire time we were there and he seemed to be circling the kid-friendly stores in the food court like the dinky little arcade and that weird candy store.

Im not really sure why Im posting this to here but I hear a lot about PA being the #1 trafficking state so, be wary with your little ones.

ETA: I did let the mom next to me know and I let security know as well.

Several trees down in Akron & Rothsville

Lots of trees down in the Rothsville & Akron area that took out cars, traffic lights, and houses, stay safe!

Flashing Traffic Lights

Friendly reminder, flashing yellow traffic lights indicate that traffic needs to use caution and yield to traffic when necessary. Red flashing traffic lights indicate traffic needs to stop like they would at a stop sign.

Me Everytime I See an Electrical Truck

For real though, we sit at our window hoping they see the despair!

But we appreciate all they’re doing… making good time for how widespread this was! Also I’ve seen a bunch of Sheetz restocking ICE .. KEEP RECEIPTS DONT THROW THEM OUT IN A TRASH CAN AT GIANT … EVEN IF YOU’RE MAD AND HOT

Who do I contact?

This seems like an emergency but the tree services are backing up from after the storm (obviously) and I can’t get anyone out until September. Is it warranted as an emergency? Who do I contact? I fear if we get another storm anything near what we just had, it will go down and will create an even bigger problem.

Lincoln Highway Walmart closed

Update on storm effects that I saw today. Lincoln Highway Walmart is currently closed. The Taco Bell and Advanced Auto Parts in the same shopping center appear to be open. Fruitville Pike Walmart is open, but is the only store open in that center. They have flashlights, batteries, water, and usb operated mini fans if you are looking.

Anyone know what to do with a baby redheaded woodpecker.

We found three baby redheaded woodpeckers yesterday when we were cleaning up some downed trees on our property.

Two of the babies had already expired. From the looks of it, something more than the fall killed them so we didn't want to leave the third to the same fate.

So now it's in an old fishtank with same water and chicken chick food (we also have some baby chickens, hence having the food available).

I googled what baby redheaded woodpeckers eat and got a list of items to forage for to feed him... But I really want this little guy to make it. So I was hoping there might be someone or somewhere local that has the expertise with these birds that could take over or give some advice...

Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated!

New to the area: power out much?

Ironically one of the reasons my family & I moved to Lancaster was to leave the frequent storms of The South & the associated power outages behind. Does this kind of widespread power event happen here often? Where we moved from: it was 2-4 or more times a year. Do folks here (especially in the city proper) have whole house generators? Honestly, I thought we left this kind of situation in the rear view…

Any Organizations Doing A Food Drive for Storm Victims

Wanted to throw this out here, I know PP&L is doing their water and ice reimbursement which is nice but the biggest impacts for families without power is the loss of food. So are there any local organizations doing food drives for impacted families at all?
