May 2024 episode with Cole Escola
I’m getting closer to catching up with every episode in order. I started listening live in Jan 2025 & also started at the very start of the pod then as well & just listened to the episode from May 2024 with Cole Escola. I highly recommend this episode for a relisten. Oh Mary! On bway had been announced but hadn’t started & he mentioned Bowen as a potential Mary.
On a personal level, Bowen mentioned he started birding in Prospect Park as a relaxing activity. I had no idea he did this & I’m a Central Park birder. I wonder if he continued it
I don’t know so honey….sponsored by Celsius???
The amount of Celsius talk in these most recent eps especially has to be ~sponsored~ right?! Don’t get me wrong I loved the Gracie piss talk (never did I think that would be a topic and it was very funny to me) but dang….if they aren’t getting paid for the way it’s brought up each episode they should be.
(Also if they are sponsored and I just live under a rock then I take this all back)
Obsession talk?
I haven’t listened in a few months. Did the girls ever talk about Obsession? I would love to hear their takes.
Does anyone feel like they sound bored?
I don't intend to add to the pile of we miss the old Las Cultch but I have started to listen to the show less and less because they, particuarly Bowen, just sound bored now. When they first started having regularly celebs on, there was an engagement and interest in the discussion that made them worth listening to even if it lacked the chaos of the old episodes (eg, I actually liked the Reese Witherspoon episode!)
But now, with Slayyyter and Kesha (and maybe Gracie? I haven't listened yet...), the questions are lacking and the convos don't reveal much of the guests (vs. say a NYT Popcast episode). Contrast this with a Cat Cohen or D'arcey episode, the difference is even more stark. It's starting to feel perfunctory and like a contractual obligation (and maybe even a side gig as Bowen said in the Mindy Kaling episode).
Anyone feel the same way? I don't want to focus this on them evolving the show itself (they want to interview celebs I guess...) but focus on their engagment with the show.
