Robot mowers are an absolute game changer for larger properties

This is maintained entirely by a pair of robot mowers in the picture.

Since September 2025, my Lymow fleet has mowed over 3 million square feet, logged 824 hours of mowing time, and covered nearly 69 acres of grass.

What surprised me most wasn't the time savings, it was the consistency.

The robots mow twice a week, every week, so the lawn never gets ahead of itself. Instead of mowing long grass and trying to force stripes into it, the entire property is constantly maintained at the same height. The result is striping that's incredibly precise and uniform across every slope, contour, and corner of the property.

This area used to take me about 4 hours per week on a tractor. I haven't touched the tractor since September. The robots have given me back almost 100 hours of mowing time already.

People always ask if robot mowers can handle hills. Looking at this picture, I'd say they're doing just fine.

The craziest part is watching them create perfectly parallel stripes over the entire property with RTK/GPS guidance. No overlaps. No fatigue. No "good enough" passes at the end of a long mowing session. Just even uniform stripes as far as the eye can see.

I never thought I'd be saying this, but after living with them for a season, I have zero desire to go back to spending my weekends on a mower.

Anyone else running robots on larger properties?

Scored this Murray 42” zero turn for $1,500 at Home Depot

I went to HD today planning to buy a respectable walk behind mower. When I got there I see all the riding and zero turns they had displayed up front right outside the store. I noticed all the Murray branded zero turns were marked down and on the price tag it said “As is - Damaged. $500 off. Knicks and scratches but runs and works perfectly”.

They were brand new still in their packaging and they had them marked down from $2,899 to $2,399. I asked the manager if he would write it up for $1,500 and I’d buy it on the spot. He said yes! I had about $260 in store credit and pro rewards which brought my total down to $1,331 out the door.

I brought it home and gassed it up and gave it a quick wash, I ran it for a few minutes to inspect everything and it was all perfectly brand new. There was no damage that I could see so I feel quite good about this purchase. I’ve never owned any Murray equipment so I’m curious to see how it will perform.

(P.S: don’t be afraid to ask for a lower price, because they could say no… but they could say yes! The worst thing that’ll come of it is them saying no!)

Finally got some rain in Georgia

It’s been a fairly dry season up until last week. I applied 29-0-4 and Milorganite about 3 weeks ago. I cut the front with a reel and the back with a Z. I put fresh blades on the Z after this cut

Is there a reason for this madness?

Just moved in and asked the landlord whose job lawn care was. She responded the guy upstairs, he is a landscaper. So can someone please tell me why the heck anyone would mow the yard like this? He started in the middle and then went in the shape of a square 😂 I can’t see any reason for this to be efficient. As a women, I think I’ll ask him if he needs help. Men love that.

Where do I start

Hey folks, I just got a house about a year ago and I’m new to the whole lawn care thing. My back yard is seemingly loose dry dirt and dust. Some grass grows on it but no luck. Got some gardenia bushes and random trees and palm trees thriving but that’s about it . I want my kids to enjoy it without them getting ankle deep into the loose soil. Location is north Orlando region
