OpenLogi.net - an Options+ replacement for Windows. Open source, no cloud, no background bloat

I've been building openlogi.net , an app for controlling Logitech mice and keyboards on Windows — and it's at a point where I'd love for people to try it.

It talks to your devices directly over HID++ (Bolt/Unifying receiver, Bluetooth, or wired), so everything stays on your machine: no account, no cloud sync, no telemetry.

The porting story: this began as a port of the excellent Rust project AprilNEA/OpenLogi. The original leads on macOS and Linux - Windows is an early, untested preview there. I'm on Windows, so rather than bolt Windows support onto a Rust/GPUI codebase, I rewrote it in C# / .NET + Avalonia.

Because the whole thing is built around Windows first, it's grown more capable on Windows than the original's Windows preview — fuller device support, RGB lighting (per-key colors and effects), onboard and per-app profiles, multi-host switching, and a proper installer. It's an independent project, but huge credit to the upstream OpenLogi for the foundation and the reverse-engineering work.

What it does:

- Discovers your devices + shows battery level

- Button remapping

- DPI control + presets

- SmartShift (wheel ratchet) tuning

- RGB lighting — colors, effects, brightness

Why you might like it:

- Small + self-contained — ~16 MB installer (or a portable zip), and you don't need .NET installed

- No account, no telemetry, fully open source (MIT)

- Installer and a no-install portable build on the releases page

I've tested it on the hardware I own, and since Logitech's lineup is huge, I'd genuinely love to hear how it runs on your device — open an issue with your model and what worked. One quick tip: close Options+ first, since both apps want to talk to the device at the same time.

Not affiliated with Logitech. Feedback, ideas, and PRs all very welcome — hope it's useful!

MX Master 4 warranty claim denied as 'by design' nearly a month, 4 agents, formal refusal after I complied with every request.

I'm sharing my experience with Logitech support in case it helps anyone else dealing with the same runaround. Nearly a month, four different agents, the same copy-pasted "by design" response three times, and a formal denial of warranty.

I bought an MX Master 4 on 31 January. It worked perfectly for several months. Around mid-May, the left button started clicking noticeably louder and softer than the right, causing accidental clicks that disrupt my workflow daily. This is a mouse marketed with QuietClick technology 90% less click noise.

**9 June** — Opened a support case. Submitted a video demonstrating the issue, serial number, and purchase receipt. Agent #1 escalated to a "higher support team" and promised a response within 48–72 hours.

**12 June** — No update. I followed up.

**14 June** — Agent 1 responded saying the difference is "expected and normal" because "the left button has a larger surface area, which naturally produces a louder clicking sound." Case dismissed as by design.

**Same day** — I replied disputing this. The mouse did not behave this way when I bought it. I also linked a Reddit thread where another MX Master 4 user reported the exact same issue — and that user had received TWO replacement units with the same fault.

**19 June** — Escalated again. Another 48–72 hour promise.

**25 June (6 days later)** — Still nothing. I chased again.

**27 June** — Agent #2 asked me to record a brand new video showing the serial number, a handwritten ticket number on paper, and the issue. I complied.

**1 July** — Agent #3 (replied saying he's "closely monitoring" the case. No decision, no timeline.

**1 July** — I sent a formal escalation email requesting a concrete deadline.

**5 July** — Agent #4 replied with the exact same "by design" explanation from 14 June. Word for word. As if the last three weeks never happened.

**5 July (same day)** — I pushed back again. Agent 4 then formally denied the warranty claim in writing, stating they are "unable to proceed with a replacement or refund."

So to sum up: nearly a month, four agents , two video submissions, multiple broken 48–72 hour promises, and the final answer is a copy-pasted response I already disputed three weeks ago — now with a formal denial attached.

Not once in any response did Logitech address the fact that the behaviour developed months after purchase. Their entire position is that the click difference is "by design" — but a device doesn't start behaving differently after months of normal use because of its design. That's a defect.

I've seen other posts on this sub from users dealing with the same support pattern.

All I'm asking for is what the warranty entitles me to: a replacement or refund for a device that developed a fault. That's it.

If you're going through something similar document everything and don't give up.

My MX Master 3S won't turn on; the only sign of life is the mouse sensor.

Nothing works. I've kept it charging for a couple of hours, I've tried using it plugged in, and nothing. Does anyone know how to fix it myself? (It doesn't have a warranty because I bought it secondhand.)

Hydro-dipped a 3D printed lightweight shell for my MX Master 3 — thinking about switches next

Found a 3D printed lightweight shell design for the MX Master 3 online (honeycomb/lattice pattern to cut weight) and decided to give it a proper finish. Printed it out, then hydro-dipped it in a carbon fiber pattern film and topped it off with a clear coat for protection and shine.

Really happy with how it turned out — the exposed lattice work looks great with the carbon fiber texture, and it's noticeably lighter than stock without feeling flimsy. Transplanted the scroll wheel, side button, and thumb rest over from the donor mouse without any issues.

Now I'm torn on whether to touch the switches at all. Stock ones actually feel fine to me, not mushy or anything — but since I've already gone this far with the mod, part of me wants to go all in and swap them too. Anyone here swapped switches on an MX Master 3? Worth it, or should I just leave well enough alone? If it is worth doing, what switches would you recommend?

Have an MX Master 4 but dont use it

So I recently started using macOS, and using my mouse is so hard; it feels so clunky. Apart from the os being built around the trackpad, the MX feels so bad and so off-axis. Am I doing anything wrong? I tried to use it. Should I sell it?

I'm buying an MX series mouse for the first time. Should I get the MX 3S or the MX 4?

I have never used the MX series before and want to purchase one, but I can't decide. I watched videos on YouTube and these 3 things are key for me:

  • Side scroll**:** It looks a bit longer and smoother on the MX4.
  • Ergonomics**:** The MX 3S looks better. It doesn't slide when you try to grip it and seems more comfortable. Also, the MX4 is not fully covered with soft plastic—only some areas are—which is really annoying, and the MX4 is heavier.
  • Noise: The MX4 is quieter than the 3S.
  • Action wheel: I guess you can use this feature on both right?
  • Haptic feedback**:** I use many programs like VS Code, Visual Studio, and Unity. Is it really useful? Also, isn't the excessive vibration in the thumb uncomfortable? Frankly, I don't want to deal with adjusting these things.

Ergonomics is really critical for me, which is why I cannot decide. If you've used any of these, could you help?

Logitech Options+ MacOS Issue

I just got an MX Keys Mini earlier today, and after connecting it to my MacBook Air M2, I tried opening the Logitech Options+ app to see if I could customize the keyboard as I did with my my M270 Triathlon mouse.

For my surprise, the app completely broke. It would get stuck in this loop:

  1. Showing a `Loading Application` screen

  2. The app would load and my devices would either not show up, or only my mouse would show up, but inactive.

  3. Mouse would become `active`

  4. The app would go back to the `Loading Application` screen.

I lost every single customization on my mouse and it's now totally back to factory patterns. Only thing I could change was the pointer speed directly via MacOS.

I tried every single tutorial to get this fixed. I uninstalled the app, reinstalled it again. Installed the offline version. Deleted everything on the Terminal. Tried Claude and Gemini.

Nothing worked.

I lost over 2 hours trying to get this fixed and now I'm stuck with my mouse full of buttons that don't do anything and the user experience is just frustrating.

I even purged everything Logitech-related from my Mac and tried using Open Source alternatives, but they suck.

Anybody knows how to fix this?
I'm using MacOS 27

Are there any problems in MX master 4 that I should be aware of?

I'm planning to buy the MX Master 4 during the upcoming Prime Day sale. I currently own an MX Master 3S, but it started developing left-click issues just over a year after I bought it. I'm hesitant to spend that much money again on a mouse if it's likely to start causing problems after a relatively short time. How has the reliability of the MX Master 4 been so far?

Why is the backlight on my MX Keys Mini so much brighter than my Craft?

I just got the MX Keys Mini for Mac because I wanted something smaller than my Craft keyboard. And the backlight is way too bright, even on the lowest setting. The keyboard on the left of the image is the MX Keys Mini and the one on the right is the Craft, both on their lowest backlight setting. Is that normal, or is it a defect?

I built an app that adds haptic feedback to any video game on PC or Mac, via your MX Master 4 or G Pro X2

Some of you might know my other Logitech mouse apps - BetterClick (click customisation) and Sensurf (haptic web scrolling).

I always felt PC/Mac gaming missed the haptics you get in console gaming. GameHaptic uses the Logitech haptic mice to bring the experience to computer gaming.

You build a profile per game: map a recoil or movement or jump haptic etc to keys and clicks in game - whatever makes sense for your mapping. It auto-detects your active game and switches profiles automatically.

No game file modifications, no input lag.

Been running it in my current games and it has really added a lot to the gaming experience, and is another use case for the great haptics embedded in these mice!

Does the Mx Master 4 get hot in Palm area like the 3s

I had no intention of upgrading, until I saw the 4 at Best Buy. I loved the haptic feedback for the thumb button. I always found the thumb button too hard on the 3s.

Not enough reason to upgrade and spend another $100+ though, unless the new hard plastic material doesn’t get as hot as the rubber of the 3s. It’s hard to explain, not sure if anyone experiences the same thing, but when I use the 3s for long periods of time I just feel my palm hot. Not a regular body heat feeling, but it’s almost itchy. Sometimes I have to wipe it down with a wet towel to try to cool it down, but couple of minutes later it’s hot again.

I wonder if it’s the rubber material that conserves heat. Anyone know what I’m talking about and does the hard plastic material gets as hot as well? Thanks

MX Master 4 - so good to be back

Just purchased an MX Master 4. And well. I am chuffed.

Short mouse backstory

2008 - the precursor - bought myself the MX Master forefather, the MX5500, complete with matching keyboard. Awesome mouse, with one serious downside. It needed to be docked in order to charge.

2008 MX5500 - the precursor

2015 - the original - my MX Master arrives. Big step into the future. Trusty companion. Thumb scroll is awesome. And farewell charging dock! Travelling is now much easier

2015 MX Master - the OG

2021 - the mistake - Should have bought an MX Master 3. Instead... went for the Rapoo MT750S. In all fairness, it was cheap, worked well and was good value for money. But it never did feel "right". Was too light, the buttons were too mechanical and clicky, and the thumb wheel was way too stiff.

2021 Rapoo MT750S - the pretender

2026 - the redemption - new MX Master 4 arrived today. Where have you been these past few years!

Haptic feedback? It will take some tuning to get used to.

The Actions Ring? Wow wow!

General feel? Like a homecoming. Or as goldilocks would say, "just right"

Logitech G710+ and G402! Had this combo for well over a decade now.

My keyboard and mouse are old by today's standards, but I refuse to upgrade!

My G710 got deep cleaned and SteelSeries Prism keycaps installed as they original ones were crumbling.

My G402 got a replace shell and deep clean, looks like the day I purchased it!

Anyone else here using the G710 it G402 still?

Cheers

Mx Master 4 no longer brings up action ring!

Mx Master 4 no longer brings up action ring! I can use the Logi Options plus to remap it but even what I remap it to does not come up, the thumb button is now useless.

Also the button above the thumb button in front of the "forward" button, both buttons are now dead.

This has to be a software issue, I have tried everything installing uninstalling re installing, even went ack to an image for my PC when I knew it was working.

LOGI MASTER MX4 Color Variants(vivid)

Following additional requests for my transparent shell concept of the Master MX4, I created a variety of new color options.

Thank you all for your interest in my concept art.
This time, I've put together a collection of more vibrant and bold color variations.
