20x42 Auger Issues

I'm having issues with my 20x42 pellet, curious if anyone else has observed something like this? Contacted Lonestar and they're sending me a new auger motor. Their responsiveness to issues is awesome but I am a little doubtful it will resolve it, hope I'm wrong. This almost seems more like a controller issue? With the help of AI I came up with this…

Lonestar Grillz 20x42 Pellet Smoker - Temperature Control / Auger Feed Issue

Symptoms
Smoker ignites and reaches the configured setpoint temperature.
Shortly after reaching setpoint, pit temperature begins dropping.
The controller frequently displays the AU (Auger) indicator, indicating the auger should be feeding pellets.
Despite the AU indicator being active, the auger rarely turns.
The auger appears to engage only approximately every 8-9 AU cycles.
The amount of pellets fed is insufficient to maintain temperature.
Temperature continues to fall and the smoker cannot recover to the setpoint.

Troubleshooting Performed
Updated firmware currently reported as 4.2.30.
Emptied hopper completely.
Removed all pellets from the smoker system.
Reloaded with fresh pellets.
Cleaned the burn pot thoroughly.
Cleaned ash and debris from the smoker.
Removed the side electronics/fan access panel and inspected for pellet accumulation or debris.
No significant debris found.
Verified combustion fan operation appears normal.
Observed that when the auger does run, it:
Sounds normal.
Rotates normally.
Successfully delivers pellets to the firepot.
No obvious auger jams detected.

Prime Mode Test
Placed the controller in Prime Mode.
Auger did not run continuously as expected.
In some cases it barely ran or did not run at all.
Had to manually place pellets into the firepot to establish ignition.
After ignition, the smoker was able to reach setpoint.
Once normal control resumed, the original problem returned:
AU indicator frequently active.
Auger rarely turning.
Under-feeding pellets.
Temperature falling below setpoint and continuing to drop.

Additional Observations
This issue may have started after a firmware update, although I cannot confirm the exact timing because the smoker had not been used for a period of time before the problem was noticed.
Because the auger motor does function when it engages, I initially suspected a controller/firmware issue; however, the Prime Mode behavior suggests either:
an intermittent controller output issue,
an electrical issue between the controller and auger motor,
or a problem with the auger motor assembly itself.

Received my new LSG El Patron today

Lone Star Grillz creates these things really, really well. I'll l be burning it in by the end of the week. It's replacing a rusted out pit barrel I've had for ten years and taking the brunt of smoking away from my Weber kettle. I've smoked on a Yoder competition before and I'm really excited to see how this does. My first cook will probably be a pork butt to get a feel for temp holding and it's forgiving and cheap enough if it's off a little. I use mostly oak and maple bc that's what I have in the shed. I'm stoked

Pulled pork 20 by 42 pellet smoker with hickory splits

225 overnight. Seasoned with lawrys garlic salt. Added a hickory split every two hours or so when awake. Took about 20 hours for this 11 pounder. Was amazing!

Has anyone made an El patron off-road kit?

Title says it but I'm looking for ideas. The 8" wheels are good but hard to move by myself around my property

Favorite upper grate for pellet 42

Anybody have a favorite stainless steel or other type of grate for the 42 pellet smoker? I have the universal frame with stainless steel grates for the lower part so I can get to the split basket easier. Looking for recommendations for the upper grate!

Used 20x42 Pellet Grill

Was talking to my neighbor about possibly buying his smoker. Optioned pretty well with some add-ons. What's a fair value? Doesn't seem like these come on the market often. Thanks.

24x40 Offset Smoker

Just recently acquired this smoker and I am very pleased with the results. Looking to get more top down cooking for brisket cooks. I’ve heard people have removed the tuning plates all together, or leaving just one? Has anyone tried a scoop baffle insert? If so, did you remove the existing baffle as well? I’d hate to start grinding out welds. Also, not sure the stack height would support this as it’s a little short. I know the original design intent was bottom up cooking with the plates for even heat left to right while burning clean and efficient with stack fully open. Interested to hear how you are running these pits. Thanks.

Probe temps read 750+

Probe 1 is in a brisket flat I just put in. Probes 2 and 3 are ambient temp. This is my first cook on my 36 pellet. Is probe temp something the FireBoard has to “learn” or is there something wrong? All probes are what came from LSG and are set to 100k.

Spare ribs on the EFT in offset mode

This is my second time doing ribs like this and I’m getting used to fire management which is generally pretty easy. I am loving the amount of air flow this cooker gets, and the smoke flavor is really great.
