She’s probably right, so here I am.

Hey guys. I’m 27F, from China. I’ve been living in NL for 5 years now. Came here to study and ended up staying for work. No partner or kids (Not looking for a relationship btw)

Outside of work, I go to gym, swim, watch series, play games, go for walks in parks, and cook. I’ve taken staying home a little too seriously this year lol.
So I figured it’s time to put myself out there and meet some new people.

I'm a bit of an introvert and take a little time to warm up to new people. Maybe we could explore a new city, grab some food, go for a walk, wander around some shops, or try something new. I’m open to ideas.

Would especially love to make some female friends, but open to meeting anyone.

I'm quite shy to meet new people by means of going out, so i figure this subreddit is a potential means to meet someone awesome. I'm looking for someone whom i can share my interests with and generally have a good time.

I'm a Dutch guy, but i'm quite adept in English, so if you don't speak Dutch and you live in the Netherlands, i'm still happy to make your friend.

I'm an omnivert (have traits of extroverts and introverts alike) but leading more introverted. I genuinely like to go out with someone, though i definitely am fond of being at home too. I've got a need to recharge my social battery after some time.

I'm not a hugeee talker but i for sure can get going once I really vibe with someone and have that same wavelength. But even if we don't know at first, i absolutely make the effort to make a chat.

I'm a kind, patient guy, humorous, laid back, flexible, open for new ideas and impulses. I don't really like to toot my own horn but hey, you gotta know whats in store for you if you look at my introduction post 😂. I'm diagnosed with mild autism and i'm a bit forgetful (bear with me please!) if that matters at all. I do have a small circle of friends who are mostly autistic and silly.

I'm looking for a friend (friends? perhaps this post might be really successfull who knows) who is patient, is not really judgemental... down to earth, open book kinda deal. That shouldn't be too big of an entry exam right? 🫶

I've got a huge passion for metal music, i listen it every day...for hours. I like a wide variety of genres therein, it would really be fantastic if we could jam out to metal together. I'm not sure where i would place myself as a gamer in terms of gradation lol, i really enjoy playing Overwatch. And as of late 2025 i've found myself a big fan of the Trails (Legend of Heroes) series. There are MANY single player games i tend to touch for a bit then get...out of touch with rather fast except for said series. If we could play something together, or you give me a new idea to play that would be awesome!

I don't really watch series (very occasionally i watch anime), but i for sure would be up to binge stuff together. It makes it way more enjoyable imo.

If you're someone who likes to be outside, i'd be happy to be drawn out of my home and have a nice walk, sit down have a nice chat etc. If it isn't raining pijpenstelen of course!

A lot of you kept posting discord links for your own server, so we made an official Discord for r/makenewfriendsNL. Same idea as the sub, adults (18+) making platonic friends in the Netherlands.

What you can do there

• Introduce yourself with a short form. Your intro gets a button so people can start a private chat with you (you accept first).
• Coffee Roulette: join once and every Monday you're matched with someone new, preferably from your region or with the same hobbies. Learning Dutch? You can ask to be matched with a Dutch speaker.
• Plan meetups for coffee, a walk, board games or a concert. People can say they're going, chat in a thread, and get a reminder the day before.
• Regional channels for North, East, North-Holland, South-Holland, Utrecht and South, plus channels for hobbies, gaming and expat help.
• Small extras: a question of the day, trivia, a monthly photo theme, and you earn stroopwafels for chatting that you can spend on a name color.
• Promote your own server in the server-promo channel. Discord links are still not allowed here on the sub, so that's the place for it.

Same rules apply

The community guidelines count on Discord too, platonic only, no NSFW, respect boundaries. If something feels off, there's a report button that goes straight to the mods, and only you and the mods can see it.
