I was actually on Naomi's side on this one. She was actually doing really well with her classes for a while and was on track to be a great flight attendant yet she had no support from the rest of the family until much later. She was passing her tests (Almost all of them.) , has the beauty and charisma for the job, and was doing well in her roleplay exercise until Thelma gave her grief for it. It was just that she got motion sickness during her final exam. I understand that Vinton was upset by this because he'd see Naomi less if this were her new job but still this was her decision and he should've respected that. Thelma doesn't even like Naomi that much so she really has no reason to object to her daughter-in-law wanting to fuck off for longer periods of time. The others only decided to support her when they learned that they'd get perks as the family of a stewardess.

I remember when mama didn’t pay the light bill and Iola stayed over like the whole neighborhoods lights were out. She stayed coming over for dinner etc. Then again I thought to myself maybe her life was so boring that going over there was the highlight of her life

I'm watching the 'Positive Thinking' episode and I wonder what would have happened if Mama had shown Eunice even a tiny bit of encouragement about her PepperPot Playhouse role.

Would love a Hawaii resident or visitor to capture some of the locations from the two-part Hawaii episode — resort lobby, train station, grotto, etc. I’ve always enjoyed location sites for movies and TV shows, and this show almost never shot outside the studio starting with season 3.

I’ve been watching the show from start to finish for months. It’s my current dopamine fix. So, I’ve been able to notice a lot of repeated elements - like story lines or character details.

One that immediately comes to mind is how in the 1st version if the show Buzz joined debate & had the topic of whether the electoral college should exist. Vint said something to the effect of “then how would we have electricians?” Buzz said something that made it clear he knew his dad was lost, but didn’t call him out on it.

Then, in the 2nd version Bubba joined debate (for the girl with the “biggest brains in school”) & had the same topic. Vint made same comment & Bubba agreed.

What are some of these repeated examples you’ve noticed?
