What happens if I fail a course?

Basically as the title says. I'm pretty confident I'm going to fail one of my courses. Its an elective and is not necessary for my chosen degree. But I am a first year and have no idea how this affects things and if it means I can't pass the whole year. So any insight would be greatly appreciated, so that way I can get a plan sorted a head of time if I do fail.

Do I apply for Massey halls if I can’t get into vet

Hi, I’m yr 13 and I plan on doing vet sci first year in 2027.
If I apply for vet sci course but don’t get in on the first sem, should I pay for a whole year of the hall of residence? What are people’s thoughts on this. Should I go to a hall at all then?

Fees Free Survey

Kia ora all,

I've made a short, completely anonymous survey to collect thoughts and feelings on the Fees-Free scheme.

This government has scrapped a policy that will now put thousands of student into thousands more dollars of debt. Our voices were not consulted in making this decision and we deserve to be heard.

Your responses will be turned into some statistics and then posted back. I'm particularly interested in what people think need to be done about it – we deserve to have a say in how we respond to this!

The survey will take 1-5 minutes to complete: https://forms.gle/2PbCvsAqcM4nDwrAA

----

This post is not affiliated with Massey or any Massey-related organisation. It's purely because I felt people needed an outlet for their thoughts and feelings right now. All responses are completely anonymous.

Hi everyone,

I’m from India and I’ll be joining the Master of Environmental Management program at Massey University (Manawatū campus, Palmerston North) in July 2026.

I have around 8 years of experience in environmental engineering, ETP operations, environmental compliance, project management, and auditing in India. I’m really excited to start my journey in New Zealand.

I wanted to ask current students and locals about the current situation in Palmerston North regarding:

• Part-time jobs for international students

• On-campus jobs at Massey University

• Availability of casual jobs in retail, supermarkets, cafés, warehouses, etc.

• Current accommodation/rent situation in Palmy

• Cost of living for students

• Any advice for newcomers arriving in July

I’m planning to actively apply for part-time work as soon as I arrive and would really appreciate practical advice on:

best websites/apps for jobs

whether walking in with CVs still works

areas where students usually find work

how difficult/easy the market currently is

Also, if anyone from Massey or Palmerston North would like to connect, feel free to comment or message me.

Thanks in advance — looking forward to joining the Massey community and New Zealand soon!

New students

Wondering there’s any mature students (late 20s or 30s) in starting uni next semester for bachelor and CS major or anything else tbh. Preferably Auckland campus.
