This is how I’m guessing things played out. Back when Mega-Construx was first shut down and they launched Mattel Brick Shop, they sold the molds for articulated figures off. That’s why we’ve been seeing Chinese knockoffs using Mega molds on eBay AliExpress and various other sites. Mattel told people “Mattel Brick Shop isn’t replacing Mega,” when they shut all the sites down and people started to panic, because they knew if people held out hope for articulated figures, they would continue to buy sets. Which was a lie, as they never re-launched Mega-Construx and entirely removed it from Mattel’s website. Then, when nobody was buying their sets and they realized people were buying for the figures, it was too late to get the molds back. I think that’s why they made the nano-figures. As a cheap substitute for the molds they’d already sold off years ago. Since then they were fully aware people were expecting articulated figures when they teased the Warthog set, and Xbox set, considering people asked the designers at the Warthog set reveal directly about articulated figures and playsets, but they continued to not say anything, knowing they could probably make some good money off of all the old fans before they finally gave up.
Edit: Commenters have said they likely didn’t sell the molds, my point was just that they no longer have access to them and that’s why they made nano-figures. That’s just my speculation.

In all honesty, I was like "it's bad but not as bad, because of the Scarab and The Infinity.." but that shipping price is CRAZY!!! 😭😭😭

So this just destroys all my hopes on mega coming back, kind of stupid by me believing that mega would eventually return after 1 year of silence. So I think im going to sell my collection and go with lego star wars. They just fucked up what made them different now they are just another generic building blocks brand that is going to die like Kre-o so I guess GG

I have not bought a mega set since like halo infinite wave 2 since it became freaking impossible to find them in stores, I miss mega :(
