Notes:

• Rho 'Barutamee has a new helmet and cape piece and is molded in the same shade of gold as the Warlord from the Scorpion
• Fernando has a new head sculpt that's more accurate and a new piece based on HIS holodisk. His jumpsuit is also molded in a more accurate bluish-grey color now, while the Marine helmet matches his harness.
• Maria-062 is an obscure but badass character who field-tested the same copy of Mk VI armor Chief uses. Her figure uses a combination of different Mk 6 parts to create the most accurate look for the H3 design possible along with a new swappable head for her unhelmeted look
• The red and yellow Grenadier is based on someone's custom Spartan I saw in Xenon's castle since I thought it looked cool af. The Fuel Rod Cannon would be molded in dark purple.
• The Isidor has more accessories than usual to make it as complete as possible but also acts as a 2 in 1 figure.
• The Brute Chieftain is a complete redeco of the Thrallslayer figure from first Halo Heroes concept post I did over a year ago and is meant to be the Chieftain from the Halo Legends episode 'Babysitter'.

After almost 2 years of being in production limbo, the Xbox set is finally being released under Mattel Brick Shop. I feel like many of us expected this set to be gone for good after so long of straight silence. Let's get right to the chase. I got a pic of this set a day early, so let's take a look at it.

Oh... They're nano world figures...

Yeeeeaaaaah... This ain't it Mattel.

For 325 dollars, you get a buildable, life-sized Xbox that costs more than an actual used one would have. On top of that, the ONE thing that would have incentivized people to actually go and get this was removed in place of those weird nano world figures they've been doing this past year. I love Mattel, but this set is NOT it.

Like, I'll give credit where it's due, the set looks beautiful. It's an amazing recreation of the original Xbox, with most of the specialized parts going into the controller. But it all falls apart when it comes to the dioramas.

Like, look at the Halo one. Combat Evolved Diorama with a Halo 2 Master Chief with an Assault Rifle and using an Energy Sword. Huh?????? I originally thought they were just going for a general Halo display since the nameplate doesn't call out a specific game, but this promo pic straight up says it's Combat Evolved, so like... what are we doing here?

The Morrowind is fine, I guess. Idk, I haven't played it. Although there is literally no reason actual minifigures couldn't have been used there. They would have fit in just fine there. As for the Pyschonauts one. Come on bro, they EASILY could have represented a 3rd character there, but they just chose not to. I haven't played that one Yet but I don't think The Milkman was literally the only character in the entire game.

So like, I want to love this set. The build looks amazing, and the lights and sound gimmick and built in dioramas are awesome features, but like... For 325 dollars, that is a STEEP purchase. And I don't think it's because it's overpriced. The price seems not only fair, but actually a bit generous. Considering the number of pieces you get, and the fact that it's not only electronic but remote-controlled too. But like... this set feels needlessly big. It literally did not need to be 1:1 sized. The previous Xbox Mega was 3:4 scale, and that worked out perfectly.

They could have made this the same scale as the Xbox 360 Mega released, and it would have been like over 100 dollars cheaper and still retain all the same gimmicks. As a matter of fact, it being so fucking big makes the use of Nanoworld figures even worse because now the Xbox is incredibly hollow since they take up so little space.

If they wanted to make a set THIS expensive, it needed actual minifigures, as these nanoworld figures and cool little light-up gimmicks aren't gonna cut it. And it HAD figures. Chief and the Morrowind figure been circulating for AGES. Hell, I ended up with 10 of the Chief thanks to those fucking Russian roulette-ass Halo Mega Figure listings. And the Raz figure leaked recently.

Had they included all of these and a few more. This Xbox would have sold better and it would have gone over well with fans. As much as these influencers and brands are hyping this set up... It is not gonna sell well. Hell, as successful as Mattel Brick Shop has been, their premium series Hot Wheels sets apparently don't do that well either, and those are only like 125 each or some shit.

For starters, I would have downsized the entire build to be just 3:4th sized to pair with the Xbox 360. Also, I would have just ditched the ability to place the dioramas within the console itself. Just a solid brick-built replica of the og Xbox, with the only electronic gimmick being an original Xbox start up sound that plays when you press the power button.

As for the 3 Game Dioramas, I would have gone all out. All 3 would come with a replica of their original game cases, and each would get a buildable diorama as well as a figure or 2

Halo's would be based on the Halo 2 Cover Art, but I would also include a new H2 Arbiter based on how he looks in classic graphics. Blue undersuit and dark grey armor with a blue wash to it. Allowing you to make something like this. As well as making up for the fact that Arbiter was technically omitted from the H2 Character Pack.

Also, I'd use this as the perfect opportunity to introduce a brand new Energy Sword piece that looks more accurate and doesn't require a clear piece in the middle due to being made out of a soft plastic.

The Morrowind one I'd have just be a full-sized version of this shit. Giving fans of it a second figure besides the Bone Marrow dude or whatever the fuck since it's very unlikely Mattel Brick Shop would ever touch this game again, so might as well get the most out of it.

For Pyschonauts, I'd for sure upgrade that Raz figure to give it better articulation so it could actually recreate the cover art pose. With ball-hinged shoulders, ball-jointed hips, and knee joints. I'd love to do at least one other character from the game, but it might be a stretch. I'd definitely choose Milkman for his meme status, which is probably why MBS did represent him in the final Xbox set.

And lastly, I'd actually like to include a 4th game represented here. Oddly enough, 2 of the 3 games Mega/Mattel went with weren't even in the top 10 of best sellers for the console even if they were cool choices. I'd like to stick to one that isn't on other consoles so it's identity is more tied to Xbox. Besides, they obviously can't do Star Wars cause that bitch ass Danish Company has that license.

That basically just leaves Fable, Deadass or Alive 3, or Ninja Gaiden, and personally, I'd go with Ninja Gaiden as the 4th and final game represented. It will allow all 4 displays to feel unique from eachother, and the Ryu figure would be awesome to get in Mega form.

To end this long-overdue post off here, I will say this. The Xbox set looks beautiful. However, the lack of proper minifigures is a MAJOR L for Mattel, and the set is needlessly huge as well. It's unfortunate because I genuinely love Mattel. They're one of the best toy companies out there and have treated me well as a fan and as a customer, unlike other companies. I was so eager to make a post like this, where I did nothing but suck their fucking dick the entire time. But I sadly can't do that this time.

I'm still optimistic about the future of Halo and Mattel Brick Shop. But I don't blame people for not after seeing this. This is genuinely a massive blow to morale for the Mega community. However, considering Mattel actually listens to fans and is generally based af, I imagine we'll begin seeing the return of Mega-styled figures or even a brand new figure system of theirs by the end of next year.

Who knows, maybe it'll be just in time for a Halo 3 character pack? Honestly, hopium levels of optimism, but who knows. We'll see what the future holds.

• Samuel's design is a mix of his Fall of Reach comic and movie versions. He includes 2 helmets so you can choose which one fits him best.
• Ussa has a new head, helmet, chest armor, shoulder pad, and thigh armor parts as well as a new Burn Blade weapon.
• Davis comes with a regular head based on his appearance in Halo: Initiation
• The Assault Rifle Davis has is a new mold inspired by the H3/H5 design. Its bigger than the og H5 one but isnt as oversized as the first one.
• The Elite Major Combat form comes in a deep magenta color scheme like one of the Major variants from Halo 3.

Now that MBS has officially acknowledged us, the best thing we can do is show support for Halo sets. You don't even need to vote with your wallet. Show love on their social media posts and keep the demand for more Halo coming.

I made this months back but haven't gotten around to posting it. I did make it a little bigger than most of their line ups thend to be because I feel like it makes it a little more fun, and we really should get more releases in this line anyway.
