Artists who redesign 'problematic' female characters (by me)

Artists who redesign 'problematic' female characters (by me)

This is in reference to how some artists tend to make characters flat-chested and pass them off a de-sexualised. It's the same type of energy I get when people draw previously slim characters to look obese to 'spread body positivity'.

Jaiden Animations depiction of themselves in AFK Journey verses Lilith Games' depiction thoughts?

First two are Jaiden's, 3 and 4 are Lilith Game's.

What's people thoughts on this? I always thought it was REALLY weird how the game depicts Jaiden in the 5 minute video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyP8arCDJk8 verses what Jaiden does in their video. For people who don't know AFK Journey is a Gatcha Fantasy roleplaying game, that includes a series of quests, she appears in the quest, called Skybound partners, as a wildlife biologist, where u have to help her find one of her lost birds temporarily as a party member. The redflag that I noticed at the time when I saw the video is the cleavage and how she's depicted in a stereotypical feminine pose, while I don't think its necessarily bad, is a little weird ngl. I just kinda dismissed it since that it was just a temp crossover thing and didn't think too much of it.

Recently I just remembered the video and looked at it once more. Than I found a video that goes through the whole quest and one of the things that was an bigger redflag was their walking animation that I came across recently, its during the quest when you find Ari (One of Jaiden's birds) in the quest, https://youtu.be/37ZdWgodpd4?si=lOC0I_TOXKDmZr3U - Video at the timestamp showcasing their character's animation during a cutscene 5:14. and the cleavage shown within Jaiden's own video of their character in the game.

While I don't think its entirely malicious, there's too many red flags that make it very questionable. Especially since Jaiden has came out as being Asexual, with there being a whole controversy about it, and has had people depicting them in a sexual manner in the past. Though it has thankfully changed over the years as Jaiden has gotten a team now and has slowed down their content for a while due to the decline of the storytelling media on Youtube.

Not trying to start controversy or anything, I just remembered when it happened recently and at the time the video came out, why I couldn't exactly put my tongue onto their depiction being... weird.

I'm just trying to read some 90s Spideman dude

Her lips are atrocious, her breasts in the second panel look like balloons, although they are more realistic in the first? And just what the fuck is this scenario, this served no purpose to what was happening in the comic, it's suddenly like bam fetish time interrupting the story!

The only saving grace is I appreciate how they inked her hair, lots of texture

Frank Miller draws Black Cat .

His art is hit and miss but this one 😭 . Her stomach looks like a slinky. His ugly style is getting worse.

Not sure if I ever shared this here, but I finally colored these old ref images for a story of mine that tackles feminity in anime (and sexism in Japan as a whole). I'll add the old cover pic for it as well

So this story is called Kawaii Mahou Shoujo Ayako-Chan, it's about a girl called Ayako who's a gym rat and a huge magical girl fan who gets recruited to be a magical girl... But you quickly realize it's basically a cult that preys on insecure women who have been rejected by society to use them as canon fodder for their dark cause. It follows Ayako through her recruitment and then eventually her realizing the truth of the institution and running away from it, eventually learning to be true to herself without having to confirm to society's standards in what a woman needs to be.

Usually I love making my anime satire to be super super exaggerated (if you've read Pretty Petal Daycare you'll know what I mean lmao), but this one is actually the opposite here. It's a very dark story and unlike PPD or others I don't put any humor into it at all because it needs to properly show the darkness of the situation.

Oh also don't mind Shi over there... He... He'll make sense later in the story I promise lmao.

Senua from Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice

By Hugues Giboire

This is just a solid and realistic design.

The only thing missing is armpit hair which a person from that time period would most certainly have, but besides that it is basically perfect.

10/10 would go insane looking for Dillion again.
