Hi everyone!

My family and I will be in Milan in December and we'd really like to have one or two meals that are genuinely Milanese rather than tourist-oriented.

We're specifically looking to experience the classic dishes properly:

- Risotto alla Milanese

- Ossobuco alla Milanese

- Cotoletta alla Milanese

- Mondeghili

- Cassoeula, if it's being served in December

- Other traditional Milanese/Lombard dishes you think we shouldn't miss

We're especially interested in a traditional trattoria/osteria with an old-school, family-run atmosphere — somewhere that locals actually enjoy going, rather than somewhere that's primarily recommended to tourists.

For at least one of the meals, we'd also really appreciate a restaurant with a **good Italian/Lombard wine selection**, preferably somewhere where we can explore local wines rather than just having a generic wine list. We're interested in Amarone/Valpolicella, Valtellina wines, Franciacorta, etc.

We're not necessarily looking for the cheapest place, and we're happy to spend for a genuinely great meal. We're also considering doing one more upscale/Michelin-style dinner, so recommendations for a more contemporary restaurant would be welcome too — especially if it's somewhere that still has a strong connection to Milanese/Italian cuisine.

We're staying in Milan around December 16–18.

If you were taking a friend visiting Milan for the first time and wanted to show them what Milanese food is actually about, **where would you take them?**

Insieme alla mia compagna stiamo cercando un nuovo appartamento nella zona come indicata dal titolo. Al momento viviamo dietro city life tra corso Sempione e piazza dalla Chiesa, purtroppo per esigenze lavorative ci dovremmo spostare a breve. Sto cercando appunto principalmente nella zona tra piazzale Lodi e porta Romana principalmente. Non avendo mai frequentato troppo la zona non mi rendo bene conto di quali siano le zone da evitare e quelle da puntare. Quel che cerchiamo noi è una zona che sia relativamente tranquilla e sicura (magari con qualche possibilità di trovare parcheggio la sera), ma che allo stesso tempo non si allontani troppo dalle fermate della metro. Per esempio una zona come viale Toscana (all’altezza dello IED) si può considerare buona in base a questi parametri?

Come da oggetto, noto un certo moltiplicarsi di thread sulla falsariga di questi due temi, e ben poco altro.

Ovviamente ciò di cui si parla più spesso tende a riassumere i trending topic attorno alla città. Approfittando di un placido venerdì di ottobre con clima da inizio settembre di una volta, mi trovo a riflettere sulla soglia di guardia ormai raggiunta da anni da questa città che si è trasformata in una bolla immobiliare con annesso turistificio (e una spruzzata di senso di insicurezza generale: è sicuro andare a vivere in Crocetta? È sicuro se parcheggio la moto con le chiavi inserite in piazza Prealpi? E se giro sul tram col bigolo di fuori?).

Come direbbe qualcuno, forse ho solo bisogno di uscire a toccare l’erba.. prendo su la bici e vado al cavalcavia Bacula a fare la ciclabile. /s

Hi everyone!

I’m 35F, living in central-east part of Milan, and trying to explore some hobbies, meet new people, and build a bit of a social circle here. The problem is that I’m struggling to figure out where to start

I’m particularly interested in two things:
Sports: Volleyball or rowing. I’ve tried both in the past but I’m definitely a beginner, so I’m looking for something casual, beginner-friendly, and ideally with people around my age. Not necessarily competitive, more about learning, having fun, and socialising.
Activism / volunteering: I’d also love to connect with local activist groups or grassroots communities, particularly around climate justice, human rights, or animal rights. I’m more interested in getting involved in a community than just doing occasional one-off volunteering.

I’ve been searching online but haven’t found many clear entry points, especially for someone who doesn’t speak much Italian yet.

Does anyone have recommendations for groups, associations, clubs, or even informal communities that might be worth checking out? English-friendly would be a plus, but I’m also happy to improve my Italian along the way!
