Rate my Missouri road trip itinerary

I live in Chicagoland and am planning to visit Missouri/Kansas Route 66 attractions as well as explore Mark Twain National Forest with my pup over a long weekend. Here is a rough itinerary — any must-see spots I'm missing? Any specific hikes or parks you'd recommend in/neart the national forest? I'm hoping to make this trip in a camper van so I have some more flexibility and am not tied to any hotels at the end of each day.

Day One

Route 66 State Park

  • Red Cedar Inn & Museum

Giant storm hit on the fourth.

Tress down everywhere. I feel a little betrayed by Ameren. Why bother telling me you will resolve the issue today if the public statement online says Tuesday?

Is anyone else still without power? I'm just outside of Jefferson City and not looking forward to throwing my whole fridge away.

If you're voting by mail in Missouri your ballot affidavit MUST be notarized

If you fail to get your affidavit (on the back of your ballot envelope) notarized, your ballot WILL be rejected. You will not be notified, you do not get the chance to vote again. Your ballot has already been "cast" but will not count.

Keep in mind that notary's CANNOT charge a fee to notarize election mail. ONLY sign your name on the affidavit once you are in front of the notary public.

The ONLY circumstances under which the notary requirement is waived is if you are voting absentee by mail due to "Incapacity or confinement due to illness or disability", if you are voting from an active duty military position, or a citizen living overseas.

Power outage!!

Based off of what i can see the power outage is stretching across the vast majority of missouri and will continue for as long as the storm goes on

Anybody just got their power turned back on? (Central Missouri)

Power turned off at 3 pm today just when my family and friends were getting ready for 4th of July celebrations. Turned back on around 9 hours later close to midnight, after everybody had already left when it became obvious we were going without power for a while. Spent hundreds of dollars on food to celebrate the 250th birthday of America with my friends and family and it turned out to be the worst 4th of July I've ever had. Sorta fuming at the moment. Yes, yes, I know, first world problems, etc.

Looking for Missouri Woodworker

I am purchasing an expensive chess set as well as a checkers set made of the same material. The company doesn't have a display case for the checkers. I want to have a wood worker in Missouri build it for me. Any recommendations?

Boonville downtown in 35mm

Took these while I was parked in my milk tanker truck at the QuikTrip for a ten hour break. I intermittently haul milk tanker loads from Hartley TX to the Aurora Organic in Columbia. I'm itching to explore the Katy more on my folding bike.

Don't be fooled!

Republicans, the Epstein Class and corporate Oligarchs are trying to dupe Missouri Voters with a "Missouri Mule" Ad Into thinking Democrats support Amendment 5.

The Admendment allows Politicians to Jack up state sales taxes, bankrupt Counties (Property taxes go to the county, not to the state), opening the doors to banks to start foreclosing farms for Data Center Land.

The Mule is an Elephant in disguise.

ALPRs and Missouri law question.

So I was reminded today of Missouri’s traffic laws regarding speeding tickets issued by cameras, it got me thinking. Can Automatic License Plate Readers used by Missouri State Highway Patrol be used to give someone a speeding ticket? Any lawyers here know?

Update: I think I’m going to jail and I’m so scared

Okay so I made a post a while ago about my first speeding ticket, going 100 in a 65 through Madison county. And I said the judge sounded so mad and was talking about giving me an SES and I was freaking out

Well I had court yesterday and things went by so beautifully!! My attorney fought for me since this was my first speeding ticket, I had done a driver improvement course, a Victim impact panel, and 40 hours of community service before my sentencing and the judge gave me an SIS!!

I have two year probation which feels kinda long, but I dont plan on speeding EVER again. I learn from my mistakes and I’ll never forget how I felt during this whole ideal.

Only had to pay my court costs, and that wasnt even $100. Im super blessed and fortunate

Thank you everyone who told me to calm down and helped me realize this wasnt the end of the world.

The roads just got a lil bit safer, im slowing down permanently
