Horseback rider finds 100 random solar power speakers by Mt Shasta

Tourism is absolutely out of control on the mountain

South Gate meadows is being desecrated. I saw a commercial tour with, I kid you not, at least 30 foreigners being lead into the meadows.

Three Russian guys were blasting a pill speaker and drinking a 24 pack. Clearly already buzzed while they were trudging and splashing within the deepest section of the stream they could find. Treating the area like it was Venice Beach.

Another couple guys were flying drones around.

Lots of trash including orange peels and watermelon rinds.

And just people marching around off trail absolutely everywhere.

This was last weekend.

I passed this info along to a forest service employee. I hope they are willing to take measures to preserve such an amazing place.

It’s a special place and it can be lost easily.

Horseback rider discovers unusual objects in the foothills of Mt Shasta

" Lumerian conference call of 100+ maybe 200 solar Bluetooth speakers putting out some white noise, but then some of them were human voice mantra. I had to go live on some platform just so I could prove it wasn’t fake lol So creepy"

What do you think they are used for?

Shasta mid July - Clear Creek?

I'll be passing Shasta mid-July, but I'm trying to figure out if I need certain gear before I go out. I've climbed 20+ 14ers in CO, Helens, etc, with Longs Peak being the only class 3. I usually rock microspikes and poles, and have no experience with an ice axe or crampons. Do I need to get an axe and crampons before I show up, or will I be good hiking the Clear Creek route with just spikes and poles? Maybe even avalanche gulch with spikes and poles?
