Would love to know what species these are, and if they're edible, thanks!
Growing in grass among mixed forest.
The last photo is of the place it was growing (on my patio deck, in a creak of older wood). 10 month old kid chewed on it a bit. It looks wet because of the saliva. We are also calling help lines, but an ID would help. I still have the mushroom bit if you need additional pictures. Quebec/Canada
First time forager - would love assurance that these are in fact CoTW
Thank you :)
Im not gonna eat it, but I wanna know. Mississippi btw and its 2 separate packs. Not expired
Bartin, Black sea region of Turkey. My mother in law had these mushrooms in the freezer, she picked them in the orchards on her farm. She's been doing this for years and says the family has always eaten them and that they are safe to eat. My husband also grew up eating them. When I asked mil what they're called she said 'mushrooms'. She plans to fry them for lunch. What are they? Thanks!
Edit to add: identified! Thank you for the interesting discourse on these mushrooms. My husbands family are farmers of many generations in the region, and so his mother is quite knowledgeable when it comes to foraging. I am the skeptic in the house! My mother in law is a truly fascinating person.
Connecticut USA. Tons of mushrooms in my new backyard. Are these both jack o lanterns? Is one a Jack o lantern and one a chanterelle?
United States, Northern NJ. These keep popping up every time it rains, and they are shriveled and gone in one or two days. They grow in the bare patches around my yard, which were filled in not long ago with relocated dirt from an area of the yard with mulched down trees. I'm just curious what they are because my puppy tries to eat everything and I want to know how worried I should be. By default I avoid them of course, since based on the color I'd assume their poisonous

My mom's shih-tzu was eating this mushroom in the backyard... do we need to go to the ER?
Wasn’t able to locate in my field guide. Printing now.
Located in suburban grassy lawn, most likely soil.
New Hampshire State Park - August 2026
No specific odor, does seem like a sack at the bottom. Thoughts?
EDIT: Thanks for info! And yeah, I was in the kitchen for lighting since the rest of my house was dark and asleep. No intentions of harming anyone or taking a nibble.
