One of the travesties of the National Trust

Every time I go to national trust, I think this, but this time I’m typing it.

The fact they have some kind of exclusivity agreement with Pepsi as a supplier for every national trust cafe, needs an enquiry.

Give me an ice cold full noise coke, and I’m happy, but this Pepsi junk just rubs me the wrong way.

That’s all really.

TrustLogger is now available on iPhone (and Desktop)

TrustLogger is an independent app for discovering National Trust places and keeping a personal record of your visits. The app includes visit history, photos, favourites, stamps, maps, and stats.

You can add it to your iPhone Home Screen and use it like an app:

  1. Open TrustLogger in Safari
  2. Tap the Share button
  3. Choose Add to Home Screen
  4. Tap Add

It’s a small independent project made for people who enjoy keeping track of the sites they’ve visited. It isn’t officially affiliated with the National Trust.

I’d love to hear your feedback and any issues.

Ironbridge/Blist Hill

Just a few quick questions...

The NT website seems to have packed a lot into this visit but then when I look at other sources it seems the Bridge, Tollhouse and museum maybe elsewhere? Is it worth visiting the bridge and the Victorian town on the same day across multiple places? Or is this one site that is just massive?

Please help 😀

Puffins are one of the rarest breeding birds in Dorset, but a sighting of a young puffin emerging from its nest in Purbeck has given fresh hope for the future! 🥹

It's the first confirmed sighting of a puffin fledgling (puffling) in 30 years!

The sighting followed more than 15 weeks of monitoring by the volunteers, who watched the adult puffins courting, mating, carrying nesting material, and, since late May, repeatedly delivering fish to the nests hidden deep within the crevice.

We're not sure if it's the same mum, but there was another hatching in the Cloister at Lacock a few months ago, and she was ready to lead all 11 (!) ducklings to the water! 🥹

While other areas of the garden shine at the beginning of the season, the Best Garden was always designed to come into its own in the summer months, and stays in bloom right through until autumn 💚

When the National Trust acquired Chastleton House in 1991, plans were made to conserve its garden.

First the croquet lawns were reinstated, then the kitchen garden in 2012.

In 2019, Rosy, our senior gardener, started work to restore the Best Garden using old photographs, paintings and diaries, as well as the memories of those who had seen and enjoyed the garden in the past.

The garden reopened in 2023 and, three years on, it really is living up to its name 😉
