I work in a hospital, Covid is super prevalent on our wards, and one of my jobs is to ask people to cough and deep suction them.

I’m tired of getting Covid every year, despite PPE (which is also hard to find now). Since the vaccine, most times I’ve caught Covid has been mild.

Last year I caught it (over a year since a vaccine), and I was so very unwell. Really pyrexial, super fatigued.

I was off work for 7 working days and not back to full duties for another week after that.

Overall, after saving £80 on a vaccine for me, they lost out on approx over £800 worth of my labour due to the sick leave and reduced duties.
Make that make financial sense! I can’t believe the press isn’t all over it.

This year I’m paying private. Not so I can stay in work, but because I’m tired of my job making me ill.

Just another way we’re not looked after as NHS staff.

EDIT: okay weirdly, I can still log in to SwiftQueue and book an appointment but it’s not advertised anywhere around the Trust… I’m going to ring and double check tomorrow…

As if it’s not enough of a sensory nightmare, now I have conflicting videos to deal with too!!!!! Wear headphones!

Now on a stable dose of methylphenidate 54mg.

Can I drink? Do I skip meds for a day? Will that bring back my side effects?

Will I absolutely crash my mind by skipping?

I got myself in a pickle. Work was busy, home life was chaotic at best.

Since then, I’ve rested, travelled a little, cleared out my ENTIRE house (because living in my filth was one of the things that made me most miserable).

I’m currently titrating on Concerta XL, and those side effects also made me feel naff - although I feel fine now and don’t have any side effects.

How do you know when you’re ready to go back?

I enjoy my job, but I’m really worried as I felt so unwell at the end of July.

What are your experiences of fitting/living with them?

If so, where would I get them from? :)

Any recommendations for any of the companies that will do it all in one?

Doesn’t have to be the cheapest, but probably can’t afford mega premium. Don’t mind a national company but I’m based in Arnold. Ideally they need to offer 0% finance as I doubt I’d be able to pay outright.

32F - Been on 54mg of methylphenidate for 3.5 weeks now and I’m still feeling unwell. Hard to describe exactly how, I feel a shaky, tired and a bit spaced out.

I have also been getting headaches but these seem to have eased, especially if I drink a lot.

I’ve possibly been functioning a little better, but equally I’ve just gone off sick from work so not sure if it’s just the headspace from that.

Is it too early to tell if it will help? I don’t know why I don’t feel better. :(

I have a titration review on Wednesday, so I guess I can ask them, although these have been quite quick reviews.
