Is it possible for a Ring to record while the internet is off? (please read whole thing before answering)

I've looked up several websites and they all say the same thing, but I want to check with the community to make sure I haven't missed something.

Here's the context: a family member of mine has been having some issues with a neighbour and has installed a Ring camera for safety. However, she keeps getting an error message saying the Ring is offline when she leaves the house. Now, when she leaves the house, she turns the internet router off for fire safety. I've suggested that this is the reason, but she maintains that the Ring used to record when the router was off in the past, and that this is a new development.

So is it possible for the Ring camera to record even when the wi-fi router is switched off (i.e. are there other methods of connecting to the internet), and if not, how was it recording in the past?

The option to go through videos faster disappeared..?

I used to have the choice to be able to scroll by the hour it seemed like. What changed? We still have the same plan, the continuous recording

Motion Zones

I set up new zone as default is too broad. But it seems not be working. Should I delete the default zone? There does not seem to be an option to change the default zone to the new zone. Anyone. Anyone

Hardwire options without transformer

I have a Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) model number 5UM5E5. It was originally hard wired but I've tested voltage at both the outside wiring and the old indoor chime. It's dead. I've looked absolutely everywhere for the transformer and it's completely MIA. It has a USB micro for charging and works while connected to USB and wirelessly if it's charged. But that's not a long term solution. Are there any other options? I think I saw someone put a battery or power pack in the chime, but I'm not sure how that helps if there's no voltage to the chime either. Right now the doorbell is pointed out my window with a USB cable around the corner to a nearby outlet. Not cool. Thank you!

Neighbors denied the claim, saying its just a prank, but this has gone too far.

These kids in a green bay wi neighborhood have been ding dong ditching us, kicking our door, throwing those yellow concrete pillar covers into our lawn, and have been harrassing us. We have a VERY enxiatic dog and my mother and I have really bad anxiety too. We posted a claim to “Neighbors” and they denied it saying it was a prank. I threatened to call the cops on them in the video if they did it on more time, there response was to flip me off, it happed when i turned my head to look right. We only want peace, and what we are getting in return is violence.

Connect, damn it!

I have a Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) that when connected has a connection speed of 15Mbps+ and shows a Signal Strength of -45 RSSI but routinely fails to load a live view. What does this little fellow need to do its job?

Zones seem to be completely ignored

My camera is driving me crazy. I have a zone set up to stop ten feet before the street, but for a couple weeks now it's been capturing every car that goes down that street.

I checked the settings again, the zone line is the same as it's always been.

I have the sensitivity way down low (not that that should impact the zone being respected...).

Is there a fix for this or is the issue on Ring's end?

Flipping Video?

Hi! I’m looking to mount some outdoor cameras under the eves at the corners of my house. But it would seem that I would need to mount them upside down. This would require flipping the orientation of the video. Will that work on any outdoor plugin cameras?

Got the dreaded 'Purple hue' glitch... is it cooked?

Have a Ring Spotlight Cam Plus... woke up to all videos from today looking like this... Yesterday's are normal.

I know, from Google, it's the IR sensor is stuck.

Tried rebooting twice from Device Health in the App settings... no change.
Had my Mama M go out and tap it, still purple.

Is the whole camera cooked? Are there any other fixes?

Duplicate Ring Notifications (Android)

My Galaxy S25 Ultra recently updated to One UI 8.5 and I am getting duplicate pop up notifications when my phone is unlocked (I am attaching a picture of the issue that someone else posted on this sub over 1 year ago but that post wasn't much help to resolve it). Has anyone been able to fix this?

planning to cancel my ring plan and use that money to buy another camera that has sd card recording.

for $50 per year, I'd rather just buy a 4k camera off aliexpress with sd card recording.

It's more cost effective to cancel my ring subscription, and downgrade to the free plan. I still get alerts and live view.

with the $50, I would install a (jooan or similar) 4k camera right next to my Ring camera to record 24/7.

I will have saved $250 in 5 years. The shit adds up.

so how do you fix this when you're a thousand miles away?

the ring cam is literally the only device in 2026 that can't automatically re-connect automatically after the network is restored.

Ring Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen)

We just got the device replaced because it is not recording the notification “Hi. You are currently being recorded” on the video recordings. Instead it does activate and play the alert outside but the recording does not record it being played. We thought it was a faulty device but the replacement doesn’t pick it up on the recording either.

It is playing the alert outside but I want it on the recording itself.

This video attached is the Doorbell Pro (old gen device that recorded the notification very clearly). This is what I want to hear on the recordings. How is it the more expensive and newest camera doesn’t do it? This is the second device and it also doesn’t do it.

On the Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen), it doesn’t record it? Why?

Can someone help me out here? Ring Support has so far been useless.

To be clear:

The spoken notification should be captured in recordings when audio recording is properly enabled. Which it is.

I use the Alex+ responses and that audio exchange is clearly recorded on the recordings.

The spoken notification of “hi. You are currently being recorded” is not being captured.
