Smoke Alarm - hush/disable from app?

I have 3 of the new wired Kiddie smoke and co detectors. Love them. BUT they are way more sensitive than prior smoke alarms. They go off sometimes when someone is cooking and there is no visible smoke. The question i have is, why can't i 'hush' them via the app or keypads? I hit disarm on the keypad, which I guess tells Ring I do not need any help, but they keep ringing locally for another 5 minutes minimum. Online it says there might be a hush option in the app but only when they're going off? This seems like a no-brainer feature and something they should add to keypad features as well?

snapshot is now a picture of my face - how to refresh?

I took my doorbell down to charge tonight. it caught a glimpse of my face in the process and now that is the default snapshot. when I go to change my motion settings, which I do want to do, it’s just my face. I have tried rebooting through the app. didn’t change anything. How do I get the snapshot to be my porch view instead?

Ring Doorbell constant WiFi issues

This issue has been driving me nuts. The Doorbell says it has a connection so bad that it can't connect whatsoever. I installed a ring chime pro about 6 feet from the door, which is physically as close as I can get it, as it's the closest outlet. The outdoor cameras have no issues whatsoever, even the floodlight cam I have that's double the distance from the m router that the doorbell is. But the damned doorbell is the only one having issues.

I used a signal strength analyzer and put it right next to the doorbell and it shows that the signal is indeed weaker in that spot, but nowhere near as dire as the doorbell thinks. -54 as opposed to -45 in the hall where the chime is.

You find Neighbors feed useful?

New Ring owner here and just turned off this feature. To see someone post about fireworks and trying to interpret them as gunshots on July 4th was enough for me.

Or about some cat that ran off. It reminded me of Nextdoor which the idea wasn’t bad but turned into nosy neighbor nonsense. This latest alert made me see the feed and it wasn’t something I’d be interested in receiving alerts on. I don’t need these useless alerts coming from my home surveillance app.

Person at door

Went to the Clovis page but had no activity so figured I’d post it here we live in Clovis area and this man came to our door in pain with a swollen wrist, saying he “fell on it” and thinks he sprained or dislocated it. He has a good demeanour but his stories don’t add up.

He was carrying a large iPad with a pink case and 2 tv remotes. He said his name was Alex or Alec he was definitely tipsy he was slurring his words and swaying standing up. He originally said his friends were our upstairs neighbours and he knocked and they didn’t answer the door… we just got brand new upstairs neighbours. Then a bit after he tells us they answered upstairs and they told him “who tf are u” and wouldn’t help him further.

He also said he didn’t have health insurance but he was training to be an emt and had been the “cash cow” for a lack of better words for his friends and said he had 10k in his account. But heres the thing he didn’t ask for any ice or pain meds he asked us if we could twist his wrist back for him now I’m studying psych and even I know IF U ARE NOT TRAINED TO PUT BONES BACK … DONT TOUCH THE DAMN BONE. U get pain meds for the pain and swelling and ice it and apply pressure but he didn’t ask for any of that.

He also kept refusing a ride to the er or home saying he had no health insurance and his home life was bad. He also kept refusing water or to sit or lay down. He continuously kept his wrist down and kept wincing in pain when moving it told him to move his fingers he could barely move one fully he said none of them were numb but still if your training to be an emt shouldn’t u know these things?

We didn’t let him in the house nor did we give him our names or personal information. He wasn’t looking at any of us in a weird or sexual way. He didn’t have a phone on him only a wallet in his pocket with nothing in it that I saw. He kept apologising for “being a burden” and he was sorry for bothering us. We asked him if he really fell or if he was in a fight he said a fight he’s a boxer but he sounded pretty joking about it.

Has anyone seen this guy, know him, know anything that might help???

System seems to be out of sync, any ideas?

My Ring (Base Station, Keypad, Door Sensor and one motion sensor) seems to be out of sync. In the last 6 weeks it has happened 4 times that after activating the system via the keypad the motion sensor has reported movement always in the minute after activation. E.g

08:26am Door opened
08:26am Exit Delay started
08:26 am Door closed
08:27am motion detection stopped
08:27 Activated via Keypad
08:27am MOTION DETECTED

and then the alarm countdown starts.

In all the cases I can guarantee that there was nothing in the apartment (no pets whatsoever).

To me it seems that the motion sensor sometimes reports the movement with a delay and therefore setting off the system.

It has never happened that the wrongful detection occurred later than 1 min after exiting.

Has this happened to anyone else as well and is there a way to prevent this!

Thanks in advance

Needing a camera or doorbell camera for apartment that records all the time

I’m 20F, random people keep coming to my apartment door late at night and yanking the knob trying to get inside, I think a group is trying to get in and squat or break in, I want a camera that will record everything, at the moment I have a blink door bell the latest one that’s on AA batteries and that camera doesn’t record everything, there’s a time limit on how much it can record then it cuts or if the person isn’t there for long realizing they are on camera the camera doesn’t record since they aren’t standing looking at it long enough, but most altercations are longer than 30 seconds, I would like something that captures everything and not cut out when someone’s yanking on the door, I’m concerned if they actually get in the camera won’t actually record that and my evidence is non existent, what kind of camera should I get? I was thinking a ring that’s wired that can record 24/7, my door or actually on the trim has a small little doorbell button that makes a buzzing noise come out of the intercom as an I guess digital doorbell, I think it’s from the 80s?, could I somehow take that button out and use the wires from that if this was the route I’d take, please send me some recommendations on what I should do or what cameras are out there. Thank you for reading!

Looking for advice

I just recently bought the 24/7 recording subscription for both my indoor gen 2 cameras (both always plugged into the wall). When I go to turn on the 24/7 recording mode, it is not an option in my video settings for either camera. I’ve seen several instructions say go to device setting, video settings, recording mode, then turn 24/7 recording on. I have never had “Recording Mode” an option in my video settings I have tried several things to troubleshoot:

- made sure app was up to date on updates
- deleted and redownloaded the app several times
- made sure end to end encryption was not enabled
- made sure I’m the primary user of the account
- rebooted both cameras several times
- made sure the cameras are compatible (both my indoor cams were eligible to buy the subscription for and my model is compatible with 24/7 recording mode)

The only thing I haven’t done is deactivate and reactivate the cameras (honestly one is mounted high on my wall I couldnt personally get to too scan the QR code on the back)

I tried talking to support yesterday and they transferred me to their technical team but they couldn’t seem to solve it as well. Open to any advice on how I can just get the 24/7 mode turned on. Appreciate any help!

EDIT: it has now popped up!! I think the actually cameras had to do an update but thank you for all the help!

Suddenly getting "This footage is unavailable" on all cameras

I tried posing this on the official Ring support community, but I have gotten no responses. I run a mix of Stick-Up cams and a doorbell cam. Three of the four are powered and one is on a solar panel. All have strong wifi connections.

Within the last few weeks, on the Ring app, all of my 4 cameras are showing "This footage is not available" whenever I try to view snapshots between motion events. I have made no changes to the cameras, internet, or router settings. I have tried resetting my cameras, but there is no change.

Any ideas what could be causing this, or what the fix is?

Stick up cam not detecting cars

I have had a ring stick up camera for years and I’ve noticed recently that it’s not noticing any cars pulling up. They just appear. I turned on “advanced detection” then I noticed it was canceling videos to early when the motion hasn’t actually stopped. I turned off advanced detention and just turn up the motion sensitivity to max and still didn’t notice me pull into the driveway till I got out of the car. Like how in the world is it detecting the door opening but not the whole car pulling in?!

Battery Life in Summer

I've tried searching this but the posts I've seen imply the batteries last at least a few days...but I've had the issue where the battery lasts maybe 24 hours after a charge.

The weird thing is, I did not have to do anything with the battery from probably October until this past week. The same thing happened last summer. I'm in Northeast Florida. I thought I had the camera wired into the existing low voltage doorbell and thought that provided enough power to keep it online. Any advice on what to do? Or am I just stuck recharging the battery regularly during the hot months? Also the camera is not in direct sunlight.
