Happy 30th anniversary to Nightwish ❤️

Many thanks to Tuomas Holopainen, Emppu Vuorinen, Tarja Turunen, Jukka Nevalainen, Sami Vänskä, Marko Hietala, Anette Olzon, Troy Donockley, Floor Jansen, Kai Hahto, and Jukka Koskinen for providing us with the wonderful and legendary music of Nightwish for three decades.

And may the wish fulfilled on that now distant night of July 6, 1996, continue for many years to come… 🦉

Today i found one my favorite Nightwish songs

For context, im a Floor Jansen "era" newbie nightwish fan, only really started listening to Nighwish with her and quickly dismissed the other singers. Today that changed. Was listening to random Nightwish songs and found "For the Heart i once had" and was blown away by the song and Anette performance, her sadness and power in this is mesmerizing. The song itself was never played live from what i gather, which is one of the reasons i didnt know about it. It deserves to be more known, it has such a longing, sad but hopeful tone. What an underrated song. Its one my favorite songs, period. If this post makes you listen to the song one more time or for the first time, ill be glad. Long live Nightwish.

I created a virtual art exhibition inspired by 30 years of Nightwish—a tribute to the genre.

Hi everyone, long-time fan of the genre here!

I’ve spent a lot of time recently working on a passion project: a virtual exhibition titled 'Nightwish Three Decades of Epic Sound and Vision'. It’s an artistic interpretation of the myths, nature, and emotions that have defined symphonic metal over the last three decades, with a heavy focus on the atmosphere that Nightwish has brought to our lives.

I wanted to share this 'canvas' with people who truly understand the depth of this music. You can step into the gallery here: https://padlet.com/viktoriqchipova494/poet-and-the-paintbrush-ytwes69zto8lnq6a

I would also love to get your input! I’ve included a short survey within the exhibition to see which era or concept resonates most with fellow fans. Your feedback will help me shape my future projects: 📝 Take the feedback survey: https://padlet.com/viktoriqchipova494/the-greatest-poll-on-earth-share-your-feedback-6vzzu46iypax930s

Hope you enjoy the journey! 🌌✨

I created a virtual anniversary exhibition and interactive poll to celebrate Nightwish's history! 🎹✨

Hey everyone! 🤘

As a huge fan of the band, I wanted to do something special to celebrate their legacy and history. I’ve spent a lot of time putting together a virtual exhibition that takes a look back at the different eras, the music, and the journey of Nightwish.

The exhibition is set up as an interactive slideshow. At the end of it, I've also included a 7-question poll where you can vote for your favorite eras, songs, and share what the band's music means to you.

The virtual doors open tomorrow (Sunday) from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM (23:00) EEST.

I will post the direct link right here as soon as it goes live tomorrow morning! I really hope you enjoy walking down memory lane with this tribute. 🌟

Note: This is a completely free, non-commercial fan project made purely out of love for the music (no piracy, no mixing alterations, just a visual & interactive celebration).

Nightwish inspired/sampling from Pink Floyd?

I’m in the car and Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb starts playing on the radio and parts of it reminded me a lot of Nightwish’s Astral Romance.

Like there’s a part where the bass line sounds just like Astral Romance, or maybe it’s a similar chord progression. Anyone else hear it?

"Run" by Floor made me realize why Yesterwynde is so divisive.

I don’t mean to spread negativity toward Floor. She is obviously an amazing singer, and this is not meant as an attack on her as an artist or vocalist.

That being said, seeing so many people praise “Run” made me understand a bit better why Yesterwynde has been so divisive.

To me, “Run” feels extremely generic and uninspired. Floor’s voice is great, of course, but the song itself does very little for me. It feels like the kind of track where the main appeal is simply hearing a beloved voice shine over a fairly safe, straightforward, and predictable instrumental background.

And I guess that says a lot about how differently people approach music from artists they love. Some listeners are mostly looking for a strong vocal performance, emotional accessibility, and a semi-catchy melody. For them, the instrumental side, the arrangements, and the overall musical ambition may be secondary.

Other listeners are looking for something more adventurous. They want to be surprised. They want atmosphere, layers, risks, composition, and music that actually brings something new to the table.

That might explain why some people who enjoy a song like “Run” may struggle with an album like Yesterwynde, while people who appreciate Yesterwynde may find “Run” too safe, too conventional, or simply not very interesting.

Of course, this is a simplification, and personal taste is always more nuanced than that. But I do think this difference in expectations helps explain why a musically rich and ambitious album like Yesterwynde can be dismissed by some listeners, while a much more conventional song like “Run” can be praised by many of the same people.

AcSimple Phrase, Hits Hard Now

Listening to "Turn Loose the Mermaids", and the one part hits SO hard now for me.... "All the relics of a life long lived".

For some reason as I approach 62 in several months, it just strangely hits very hard now.

Nightwish exhibition in Kitee

Hi, I'm visiting Finland in a couple of months and wanted to see A Nightwish Story in Kitee while I'm there.

Google Maps says they've got regular opening times, but I've also read that it only opens certain days so call ahead to check. Their website is broken so no help there.

I just don't want to get there and find it's shut - if anyone here's been, does it open regularly / at all(?) or is it hit or miss? Thanks

I’m happy for Floor touring, sad about what it means for Nightwish fans….

I’m really thrilled for Floor, her new single and album on its way. I saw she announced new tour dates all the way to the end of April of next year. I was so hoping Nightwish would perhaps be back, but I’m don’t know, I’m sad. Is it normal for the band to not tour after releasing an album? The not knowing is so hard. Am I the only one? 🩷💜🐰🐇💜🩷

Has anyone ever listened to this? Tarja - In The Picture (Nuclear Blast All Stars)

Tarja sings in this song from 2007 (I believe? I didn't find much about it, I found it by chance and before I checked the date I thought it could have been AI...).

Does anyone else hear a similarity between the intro of Crownless and this Romanian manele song?

I noticed that the intro of Crownless sounds surprisingly similar to the intro of a Romanian manele song, "Bem și 7 zile bem" by NEK.

I couldn't find any information about it being sampled or interpolated, so I'm curious what you think. Is it just a coincidence, or do you hear it too?

Let's play a game!

I'm bored so how about we all leave a nightwish reference or hint to a sing in the comments and we have to guess each other's references.

I'll go first, my hint is: Speaking in riddles with a heavily twisted tongue.

Your turn, I'm curious if I can guess your references!
