Deploy to users instead of devices

Hi

I am considering purchasing NinaOne.

We use Intune and Entra ID.

We prefer to deploy software to users instead of devices so the deployments follow the user regardless of which device they are using.

I am struggling to work out how NinjaOne can achieve this considering it is very much device focused.

Does anyone have any advice or information on how we can set up software deployments for a user or group of users with NinjaOne.

Thanks

Patching Best Practices

I love Ninja One RMM so far, but despite the fact their support is great I've not found a good way to learn about best practice use of the product, so that's why I thought I'd reach out here.

We have OS and 3rd party patching set up for all our clients, but we've fallen behind staying on top of it with only 40.52% OS Compliance currently for the past 30 days.

So my question is how do you stay on top of it? Have you got someone whose job is to manage the patching or do you break it up amongst engineers? As I can see this generating support tickets trying to find resolutions for persistently failing patches as well as it needing time dedicated to it for testing patches before being pushed out to client devices etc.

Assigning Users to devices

We have set up the Intune integration. Have SCIM and SSO also configured.

Is there a way for Ninja to assign the users to devices based on the information in Intune? Assigning users manually isn't an option with the number of devices we have.

NO limits organizations to ONE Agent Policy per Target type?

I am new to NO, and I like it but some of the choices I am being forced to make are a bit crazy.

I want to test if a software is installed, and if not, trigger an install of it. Agent policy seems like the place to do that, but if I create this as a standalone policy, I am forced to choose between it and the default Windows Workstation Policy?

In other words, I have to cram all agent conditions etc into ONE policy?

That sucks because the "if not, install it" will get triggered by any of the other conditions.

I suspect I should be accomplishing this some other way, like a single script that detects + installs purely in conditions, but that is not ideal either.

How crazy/stupid am I being here?

I'm 1660 miles away from where my business lives, went to let a vendor on a physical on-premises system today and was greeted with this.

im on a business trip/its not some sort of surprise term. I also manage the IT department/dont have a coworker competent enough to have done this. So the odds its related to my company requesting this are 0.000000..... percent.

worse yet I use a password manager. So I know there is not human error causing this.

worse yet the reset link doesnt send an email. I contacted support at 10am and was told at about 2pm password reset should work about 3pm.

which totally ignores "WTF IS GOING ON?"

Ninja Patch info / More details.

In the ninja patch console is there a way to get more details about what the patch is.

From what Im seeing the patches (optional OS in this case) are generic names.

The PatchIDs are just Ninja generated ID numbers so I cannot corelate them to anything to get more detail

Example

https://preview.redd.it/s2o4b0lqbx0h1.png?width=1322&format=png&auto=webp&s=c28aff11f470a6736972d1bcc20748aa5bea5f72

Patch Name OS KB KB analysis Category CVE CVSS Devices Reboot required Release date Patch ID
Dell, Inc. - Firmware - 11.20.1.9 WINDOWS DRIVER_UPDATES 3 Can request a restart 4/12/2025 00970022-6364-4df8-8923-0eeb643508a4

If you Search for some of these you might get lucky and match them to something
But a lot of them mean nothing.

Is there some way to get additional details about what these optional patches are?

Im hunting for Dell BIOS updates, these show as optional updates from Microsoft so there are no KBs attached.

My client doe not want to use Dell Command Update

Transition to NinjaOne, backstage mode & patch management

Hello!

We are looking to move over from LogMeIn Resolve. I have some knowledge of N1 as a previous employer had it but that was years ago. Curious how well patch management and backstage mode work from those that are currently using the product.

We have tested Action1 for patch management and also ScreenConnect for remote connection. Just curious if N1 is on par with those.

Advanced reporting options

Hello!

We are a MSP who use NinjaRMM over about 150+ clients. One of the biggest issue and complaint we have is in relation to reporting, expecially the ability to generate automated and meaningful reports that go directly to client. Most of our clients are highly regulated and require proof that software and windows updates are applied to all systems and they want to see this in a granular format showing devices with what patches werre installed and what's missing. Currecnt there are just high level sumamry reports that do not meet their needs.

Ninjatell us that better reporting is on their roadmap but wanted to see if there are alternative methods or are there any 3rd party marketplace solutions that can bolt onto Ninja to enhance features. Alternativly can we just pull the data ourselves via API and generate the reports that way.

Anyone else having this issue and if so how did you overcome it?

Also, when you are using native Ninja to do Windows patching is there a way to sync patching status locally with Windows udpates so when you look on the PC you see what's installed?

Thank you!
