I'm new... Will I be ok watching the movie without any context?
Hi folks,
I'm British and to be honest have very little background knowledge around the movie or the creators/what's come before.
I was browsing films to watch at my local cinema and this one came up. My friend is a Nirvana fan so I initially thought this was some sort of documentary (that may be quite funny to you lol). However, seeing the trailer and reading a bit about it, I quickly realised it's not.
Now I have found out this film comes with a very dedicated fan base, and being part of similar bases, I know how important films like this are.
However, am I safe going into this film with literally no context other than the trailer? Or am I going to need a bit of background knowledge into what has come before?
Also, are there any other films/TV shows that are comparable to this? Just so I have an idea?
TIA!
Skydive or skydove? Into the skydome
Just bought this hat from TJMaxx. Love that it has the guys scene from the movie heading into the skydome.
Took the movie on a tour of Matt & Jay’s apartment just for funzies (and the Rivoli of course!)
402 Queen st W (the webseries)
107 Shaw St (the show)
9 thornburn Ave (the movie)
Are Matt's jeans blue or gray?
I've always thought Matt's jeans in Nirvanna The Band were blue, but recently someone on Reddit said they're gray. I cannot figure out what colour his jeans actually are.

I would start a NTBTS tour, if I lived in Toronto
I would rent the apartment from the web series.
It would start at 10AM, in the apartment. On a white board to piano music, we would come up with a plan for booking a lunch at the Rivoli.
How? ...We start a band.
The tour bus would look like the RV.
We would take a band photo at Sears.
But, then we realize we don't know how to get to the Rivoli.
We would go up the CN tower, to try and see the Rivoli from up high.
A camera crew would tape us, the entire time.
We'd visit locations along the way.
We would visit the museum, and everyone would bring one piece of a display, which we'd secretly build, then smash the glass, and grab the printed out Google maps instructions to drive to the Rivoli.
We'd sneak into Now Magazine, to get a Rivoli gift card.
Then we'd pick up Matt Johnson (the athlete, not the filmmaker), and do a Q&A, where he gets to ask us about Nirvanna the Band and we blown his mind.
And it ends with lunch at the Rivoli.

NTBTS @ Prince Charles London
Anybody else catch a showing at the Prince Charles in London today?
I caught the packed 6pm showing, this movie is something else with a dialled in audience was pretty special but that’s what you get at the PCC.
The intro from Matt & Jay was a welcome surprise, talking about how great Boris Johnson caught me completely by surprise though, luckily they were just talking about powerful people with crazy hair.
First 5* movie I’ve seen this year.

Obviously the merch is only available in Canada, but my very talented girlfriend works in garment making and made this very very good bootleg.
Saw the movie today at the Lighthouse Cinema in Dublin
I cannot remember laughing that hard at a movie in a movie theater ever. Incredible experience!! And there was a trailer for Tony before it played. Spoilers for the movie >!that scene where Jay shot the gun had me in fucking tears for minutes, the whole cinema was howling. I don't think I've ever laughed that hard in a public setting ever. I'm tearing up thinking about it again, oh my God, so fucking funny.!<
