What am I doing wrong?

Can someone smarter than me please explain what I’m doing wrong? All in one grow bag; PE. Inoculated the bag March 5th. Began fruiting about 3 weeks ago.

Very stalled growth; darker brown-black caps, side growth, and areas concerning for contamination. The pins look abortive and many of the more developed ones are curving downward like drooping.

I opened the upper half of the bag and placed it in a closed tote with drilled holes on all 4 sides covered with microfilm tape. The tote is filled with saturated perlite, while the big is sitting atop a mesh drain mat on the perlite. The hygrometer says 90 percent. Temp is 23.5 Celsius. Hoping this change in environment might kickstart better growth.

Any opinions or thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you!

Should I send it and B&S?

This is some LC and it’s been 28 days since inoculation and honestly debating if I should give it more time to do its thing, lmk what you guys think!

Started fruiting conditions wendsday

Went w LC golden TS for my first time using an all in one bag at 38 days I finally saw pins and started fruiting on wendsday so they been goin bout 3 days, anyway any advice on how and when to harvest? Obviously I know they have a ways to go, I noticed some are growin sideways, I thought the light kinda guided them? Anyone know what cld cause this? Really just trying not to mess anything up, I’m really happy w myself just don’t wanna F things up after coming so far, agian any tips or tricks for harvesting are much appreciated

Went for the break and shake, couldn’t be happier!

Following up on my previous post, and I just wanted to thank everyone for all the support I have gotten! It means so mush to me🫶 I decided to ultimately go for it because the mycelium was fairly wide but mainly because of its density. In case you haven’t seen the last post, I inoculated a 3 lb grain bag from Northspore with an isolate syringe 18 days ago. Taking photos everyday, and love hearing any comments or suggestions!✌️

Play Ball!!!

Got a monotub fruiting atm with a 8lbs cake of 4lbs of CVG from North Spore, 2 lbs Millet grain from Boomer Shroomer, and LC I expanded myself from an Albino Bluey Vuitton sample I bought a long time ago from the always amazing TBG!!! Best genetics!

I just purchased some agar plates a still air box and blades to clone what ever monsters or beauties I get from this grow. But apart from the substrate/grain spawn I plan to have and cultivate my own genetics from my favorite medicinal/gourmet strains like Bluey Vuitton/ ABV/Trinity/ Lions Mane/ B+

Thanks earlier tho folks for the help and advice to leave it the fuck alone when you have the filter patches on!

First bag

I did a break and shake about 3 weeks ago. I don't know if I mixed it enough. Still looks like i am getting some growth, but it's hard to see through the bag. Should I do a second break and mix it better??

I built a DIY "Fungal Printer" that uses light to guide mycelium growth into custom patterns. Here is how it works!

Hey everyone!

Long-time lurker here. I’ve always been fascinated by the intersection of hardware and biology, so I wanted to share a fun DIY project I've been experimenting with in my kitchen lab.

This actually started as a research project of mine back in 2022. I was looking into how different microbial cultures react to environmental stimuli, and I became obsessed with the principle of light-inhibited growth—essentially using light to control mycelium development into precise visual patterns.

After a lot of tweaking since then (and way too many contaminated agar plates), I finally managed to turn that concept into a compact, functional setup!

How it works: Instead of using mechanical nozzles like a standard 3D printer, it uses light as an invisible, non-invasive barrier. Since certain fungal strains are sensitive to light exposure, I can project specific light patterns onto the culture medium. It basically tells the mycelium, "Hey, don't grow in the bright areas, but feel free to spread over in the dark."

The current setup: To get the best contrast, I’ve been testing different combinations of dry-powder agar mixtures for quick activation, utilizing standard petri dishes and disposable inoculating loops. I also put together a modular frame to house the culture and hold the light source perfectly in place.

I’m just treating this as a fun bio-art and maker experiment right now, but I wanted to bring it to the real experts here to get your thoughts:

  1. For the experienced growers: Have you ever noticed light-inhibition happening accidentally in your setups? Which strains do you think would have the strongest visual contrast?
  2. What kind of cool geometric patterns or graphics would you try to grow if you had a setup like this?

Would love to hear your feedback or just nerd out about bio-art with you all! 🙌

How are we looking? Update!

Hey y'all! Just looking for advice! How are they looking? Because we've had an issue with humidity I've been misting with distilled water. And what is the strange thing happening in that bottom corner? Thanks!!!🍄‍🟫🍄‍🟫❤️

How it looking?

I put this tub together about a week and half ago and I am just curious on how it’s looking (hopefully alright🤞)and what I should be doing to trigger pinning. I’m new to this n greatly appreciate any wisdom/advice that comes my way.

I’m growing Pioppino mushrooms btw.

Perfect cube?

I’d like to hear some opinions. Is there a perfect cube? It would be a mixture of aggressive growth, potency, large fruits, and contamination resistance. Thoughts?
