Weird remote control problem

Having a very strange problem with my remote control Nvidia shield pro the rectangle remote....

So two days ago it appeared my remote was dead... Swapped out the batteries. Nothing..

Get some research, I tried resetting the remote different combinations of buttons watched a bunch of videos ect.. nothing worked

Try to second set of batteries fully charged. Nothing

I figured the remote was dead my search results went back to a bad capacitor or something wrong with board

Anyways today I wake up I just picked the remote up and it's working again

Anybody have any ideas what could be going on? I'm thinking I should buy a second backup remote just in case

Cheap remote to rip Netflix off

Hi all,

I just found this cheap AliExpress replacement remote for the NVIDIA Shield:

https://a.aliexpress.com/\_EJd0FoI

It claims Bluetooth + voice support, but I am wondering about the IR functionality.

The original NVIDIA Shield remote uses Bluetooth for the Shield itself, but it can also send IR commands to control TV volume, power, soundbars, etc.

My question:

Can these cheap AliExpress remotes also be programmed to send additional/custom IR commands besides Bluetooth?

For example:

• Bluetooth to control the Shield

• IR to control TV volume/power

• Maybe even programmable IR learning/custom codes?

Or are the IR functions usually fixed/basic only?

I mainly want to buy one so I can physically destroy the hated Netflix button without risking damage to my original NVIDIA remote 😅

Has anyone tested one of these clones in practice, especially with the Shield 2019 Pro?

Thanks!

Nvidia shield 2017 missing smd component

Does anyone know the value of the smd component that's horizontal (marked green) in this picture?

I was adding/soldering an external antenna to j503 and wanted to remove the internal pcb trace by removing the 0ohm jumper. In the process of this however the green marked smd got lost. Maybe this is the 0ohm jumper, could someone verify with a multimeter? I noticed that the topleft component also has 0 ohm but it could be an inductor.

Did Nvidia Shield do away with Ads?

Just turn on my TV, and no Ads on the launcher? Still going with Projectivity Launcher tho.

Updated Plex app?

Can anyone tell me if the recent update to Plex app is any good? I use a Roku Ultra in another room and when Plex was updated it really seemed very bad. The UI was completely changed, I could no long pause content, they really started pushing paid content...

I have not updated my Shield Plex app and I was looking for opinions from people who have updated.

Recommendations for a music player

Not at home right now to put any theories into practice, but I was just thinking about playing music through the shield.

I used my ps4 alot to play music files from a USB and, as it was all hooked up to my receiver, was a pretty convenient way to just belt out a few tunes.

Any recommendations from users. I mainly use wav and mp3 files.

Help!

I have a shield tube that I have an issue with, basically I am unable to download anything to it when I use Google or Downloader app.it states that there is not enough space and asks that I delete some apps. However when I check the storage it has 2gb available, so plenty of space. I even added an SD card which it recognised but still it does not allow me to download.

Has anyone come across this issue? Is it possible that the internal storage is corrupt?

Apart from the above it plays Netflix and Prime ok. But i cannot download anything such as YouTube. The apps that I have mentioned were on the Shield before I stopped using it. I had this stored away for quite sometime so not been used for over 18 months.

Thanks

I decided to ditch the launcher

Project Ivy with the Aerials View plugin and Sicmundus86's icon pack via github.

No ads, no bs, just a fast media player.

I should've done this earlier.

Is there a way to still update these?

I’ve had this thing since they released in 2013-2014. Still runs with no lag…but cannot update to do virtually anything on it after booting it back up.

Are these junk now or is there a way to bring it back?

Thanks for any help!

Wifi/Bluetooth Dongle

A little while ago, I took my 2019 Pro apart to clean it and re-paste. It's running great again, but unfortunately the wifi/bluetooth connector plug broke off the board in the process 😭. I've tried a couple different wifi/bluetooth and bluetooth only dongles with no luck. Is there some sort of trick to getting one to work or does anyone know of one confirmed to work? Also open to any other potential solutions. I use ethernet so wifi isn't the priority, but not having bluetooth is driving me crazy.

Anyway to shift screen down when watching certain aspect ratios? (Plex and shield?)

For example, you know the black boxes in movies, is there a way to set a profile at certain ratios to shift screen down to atleast get rid of the bottom black box?

Shield connected to new WiFi network yesterday but won’t connect now.

Changed to new Xfinity fiber with their latest router yesterday and it connected fine then but won’t now. Have hard reset and rebooted many times. Tried too many things to list using AI suggestions but now I’m stuck. Already have developer options available if that helps. This is a first gen device. Please help. TIA.

Edit: just started working for no fucking reason.

Logging into Nvidia Shield.

I use alexa to control my shields. Every once in awhile or when there has been a Shield update I get logged out on the device.

When I go to log back in it give me a 6 digit code and tells me to enter it at: nvda.co/login. But i can not reach that site on either phone or multiple different computers.

Anyone else have this issue?
