Games are often steamroll, rarely get close games.

Is the game algorithm truly random and fair? I have so many games where my opponent gets the blank and S tiles early in game to make sweeps and I never get the chance to catch up the point gap.

On rare games I win, it's also me steamrolling the opponent by 100 points or so without any chance of them catching up.

It feels like the game is always favoring either player to push for one-sided games.

I don’t know if anyone else does this but I have been trying for months to beat 600 on Easy and finally managed 🥳

Offensive words on Crossplay

Has anyone else noticed that racial and homophobic slurs and terms are part of the acceptable dictionary used for this game? Anyone else find this odd - these words wouldn’t appear viable in other word games (Spelling Bee for instance) - thoughts?

The "it's on" move

This is my favorite type of move to make - both players will next play a 3W and it can shift a game between two good players from defensive to high scoring.

Seeding Strong Starts

There are certain players who will cancel invites and keep re-starting games until they can get a sweep or otherwise strong start to a game. Has anyone else experienced this? I think there should be a a way to fix this, very unsportsmanlike.

First time I’ve landed on two 2Ws

I thought this was really neat, I’ve gotten the 3W + 2W in the corners, but I didn’t know the middle ones were possible to get until today!

NYT Crossplay full of cheaters.

The amount of cheaters on NYT Crossplay is insane. So many games where I’ve been winning all game and last 4-5 turns my opponent plays unreal words… sometimes even coming back from an 80-100 point deficit against me in 4-5 turns.

Here’s 2 examples in last 24 hours. Winning all game and at end game it’s BOOM. Lead and game gone. Such a joke. It completely takes the fun out of the game.

My Crossplay stats are currently 35 wins and 18 losses for me… and probably 12 of those 18 losses are in the fashion of those 2 screenshots.

And I’m someone that has 1000 wins in Words with Friends. So to me it’s so obvious whenever anyone starts cheating in either game.

List of Probable Cheaters

Can we work as team here and create a list of suspected cheaters. I know sometimes it just seems like cheating but if we can more than a few people with the same gripe against the same person, it might be reasonable. Also, it could give them a chance to defend themselves if they come here.

We wouldn’t even need to make someone an official cheater. People can look and decide for themselves.

Crossplay fun challenge only using sweeps vs computer (hard)

I never really post to Reddit but thought people might find this a fun challenge. Sorry if it’s been done and mentioned before.

The idea is to try and beat the computer set on hard but only use sweeps (all seven letters) to each time. So you can swap letters or pass turns but can’t play anything but sweeps right to the end. Taken me a few days and plenty of cancelling games early but got the tile swap technique better today and had a few close ones (one by a point ffs) then finally wormier came in woooo! Great relief. Lots of luck involved too.

I am no pro at all and don’t know all the mad words in the dictionary by a long shot but it was fun anyway. So thought others might enjoy it. Happy to share my chatbot (in the game post analysis) word order with anyone. Chatbot in the game said my letter luck was 70 which is quite high so guess the challenge could be to win with lower luck than that. HYDRATES, PILLAGER, BRASHES, TEARING, WORMIER.

Best of luck if anyone fancies trying

I found a situation where passing on turn one was rated 55/99

I'm just wondering if anyone has found one where passing (not in the final turns where everything is rated 99 because you're winning) was considered the best play by the computer.

I think this is BS and I wanted to gripe.

Not only is this not a proper noun, but Taos, a proper noun, was played in this game so there doesn't seem to be a rule either way.

Will you avoid a high scoring word to be polite?

The other day I played JAZZ instead of JIZZ even though I would rather have gotten the I out of my rack.

Sometimes if I stumble on an unknown word by rearranging tiles on the board, but I think I'm a better player than my opponent, I'll decide not to pay the word... Both to be nice and so they won't suspect me of beating them with a word finder. (I won't do this against the players so are better than me!)

Are we out of moves here?

My partner and I are new lovers of Crossplay. We have a game going and are genuinely stumped. Am I at an impasse with my tiles? We’d love any help 🙏
