Crossplay Missed Connections

So I originally downloaded crossplay when it was first launched. Loved it of course. Not a lot of people I know do the NYT games so I was randomizing all my matches. One day I was matched with a player named ‘Your mom’. We had a great game. So I challenged them again.

This continued for a good while, and we would play each other every day and always challenge the other for another game when the previous had ended. We had a very even score as well. If I had to guess, at least 60 games were played over the course of months.

Then the app updated. My poopoo old phone didn’t support the new update. So I lost my matches in May of this year. Now, I have a new phone, and have been playing crossplay to my heart’s content. Still something is missing, as ‘Your mom’ never responded to my friend request when we played. Therefore they are lost to the ether.

This is all to say if you are playing or have recently played anyone named ‘Your mom’ that has the profile picture of the lady standing behind leaves, please let me know their friend code so we may resume our intellectual battles.

Crossbot’s “Luck” score is trash

Don’t know how it calculates these things, to be honest. I lost fair and square to someone recently that got every S in the deck, both blank tiles and had two sweeps - not obscure words either, so no beef there.

I had my luck store rated 40 points higher than theirs, make it make sense.

Did the computer suddenly get dumber?

I just played the "Hard" computer twice and won by more than 200 points each time. Normally I'll win by 50 or so points. Instead of ten dollar words, the computer kept playing only one or two letters at a time. This let me get all the high value letters and blanks and 3W and 2W spaces.

Has anyone else seen a change in the computer player?

Tie games should have a splash

I just had a great game with a random opponent that resulted in a tie. Only the second tie ever for me. Statistically, they must be incredibly rare. If NYT is introducing animations and flair, I think tie games are most deserving! Or at the very least, they should celebrate both players as winners with the gold framing. Instead, it’s blue, the same as a loss. What a womp-womp!

Any way to bypass the messaging rule?

I am playing against someone who sent me a message, even though we aren't friends. When I go to try and read the message to message back, the app gives me the "no messaging without being friends" warning. I assume my opponent must somehow be on an older version of the app that doesn't have that restriction.

Is there something I can do in settings to resolve this somehow so I can see what they said?

I just spent way too long wondering what a "cow rite" is & pondering if it's like a rite of passage for cows or something before realizing it says "co-writes" and then also remembering that I was the one who played it....

Playable … slurs?

I don’t know, I feel like this should not be a playable word. Sure, it has a “slang” “informal” definition but it’s obviously used most as a slur, in fact, I would be shocked if someone used the word “gook” as its slang definition because it would be really awkward.
