Summit at Coates run

Hi everyone, I know housing has been asked plenty of times but I'd still like to ask about your opinion on the Summit at Coates Run

After reading some of the reviews, most are overwhelmingly positive but I've read some that were pretty concerning labelling it as greedy and stuff

So I'd like to hear your opinion about it.

Also, if you have other housing recommendations, I'm happy to hear those especially since my funding comes from Fulbright and I will only receive it at the beginning of August which gives me a very close window to find a room.

Thanks!

Housing Question!

I just submitted my room request, but I’m a more than a little disappointed with how it went. I’m an incoming freshman, so I’ve never done this before and didn’t know what to expect outside of the videos I watched. I already have a roommate picked out, but when I went into the room selection (thirty minutes before my time to scope it out) there weren’t ANY double rooms available. I was so confused, considering 1. Those who wanted quads and triples had earlier times than those with doubles and 2. Doubles are the most common room type.

I ended up with a quad in Pickering hall
I wanted to know what the chances of me getting two random roommates is. I don’t know if this is common or whatever, but it’s bumming me out a lot, especially considering I was super excited prior to this block in the road. Let me know!

Wray House (Back South)

Hello! Me and my roomie were recently assigned a double in Wray House on back South, and i’m a little nervous about it. I’ve only really heard bad things about back south, and the location seems really far away from like everything. I’ve tried to look up literally anything about Wray, and there’s not much online about it. I lived in Pickering last year, so it’s not like South Green is necessarily new to me, but still. We also got a corner room, which to me looks better than the other rooms. Anyways, If anyone could ease my mind about it, or tell me some GOOD things about back south, that would be really helpful!

What dorm should I try for as incoming Bio major?

I was thinking I wanted to be on West. I toured Ryors and liked it, but I feel like it might be nice to be in a dorm where the rooms have sinks. I'm really not overly attached to any specific dorm but room selection for me starts on Tuesday. Advice/opinions would be great.

Johnson Hall

My daughter is an incoming freshman and planned to stay in Jefferson, but all the rooms filled in minutes and she ended up in Johnson. All of the kids she has met so far got into Jefferson, so she is sad. Since both are honors halls, do they have the option to do activities together or are they separate? Anyone with recent experience in Johnson?

Thoughts on the MAcc and Analytics Bridge Program?

ust graduated with my Bachelor’s in Computer Science.

One thing I’ve learned through school, projects, and internships is that while I respect software development, I don’t see myself pursuing a traditional developer/coding-heavy career long term. (As if I even could at this point, it's rough out there.)

I really enjoy working with numbers, data, analysis, and understanding how information can drive decisions. Because of that, I’ve been exploring possible pivot into data analysis and set me up for management roles or just roads that take numbers and make decisions.

Recently, I came across the Ohio University MAcc and Analytics Online Bridge program.

I was curious if anyone here has experience with the program:

Was it worth the investment?
Did it help with career opportunities?
Any issues with internships / placements during the program?
How was the overall experience?

It looks like this program would be a bit longer then the regular year long Macc - but seemed like it could potentially be a good opportunity to move in a direction that feels more me.

Any insight helps!

Freshman Dorm Selection

Hi! First time picking dorms here and my son does not have a dorm mate yet. He tried connecting, but communication these days with kids is
interesting lol

So here we are selecting a dorm to be randomly placed a dorm mate. He’s making his list of dorms he wants to pick, but his time is Monday at 3:30.

On his list are Shively and Gamertsfelder. The biggest difference from the layout we see is:

‱ shively has a sink
‱ Gamertsfelder has a kitchen but no sink

He was looking at West green but decided to stay closer to classes and avoid the partying athletes 😁

Any suggestions or advice welcome!!

Scholarships

Hello, I wanted to ask if anyone knows if I can apply for scholarships throughout the 2026-2027 school year that would contribute to my 2026-2027 school year. Is it possible to apply and get scholarship money for a year you’re already in?

Exchange Program

Hey everyone, I'm a university student from Perth Australia. I'm currently the equivalent of a freshman I think (I'm 18). I'm planning on doing a year long exchange program which starts in 2027. There was hella options but I managed to narrow it down to a few places, OU being on that list because I have an uncle that lives in Columbus. I'd appreciate it if y'all could help me come up with a list of pros and cons on why it would or wouldn't be a good decision for me. Thanks.

Public Speaking Class

okay this might sound dumb, but i’m an incoming sophomore who needs to take public speaking. however; when i picked my schedule EVERY SINGLE public speaking class was full or waitlisted (not just the ones that fit into my schedule). is this normal for the public speaking classes? i emailed my advisor before school ended and she never responded lmao 😭 just need to know if i need to find a different class for next semester 😔.

School of Aviation

Hey all!

I am a junior in Highschool and from Ohio and was wondering what the OU school of aviation is like. I toured OU and the aviation department in the fall and really liked it. I was wondering how selective the program is. I have good grades (32 ACT and 3.93 weighted) but I heard they limit each class to 50 for the flight school. If anybody has any info at all about the flight school or university let me know. Also I am working on my private pilots license so I'd start a head of some of the other freshmen in the program.
