OneDrive Totally Messed Up (AGAIN)

I'm not sure what's going on. My OneDrive has been messed up for days. I presume this has something to do with updates from May 12th. The explorer extension overlays aren't showing; the entire column is missing. Trying to put the status column back, there are 3 available status columns. Several OneDrive-related context menu choices are missing, "Always Keep on This Computer", "Free up space", and "View Online" are all missing.

Meanwhile, while trying to deduplicate and reorganize files, some deletions are returning. Other deletions aren't syncing down to a second PC/user, the folders are shared to. Removing the Shortcuts for the second user never removed the folders on that user's PC.

It looks like someone has already reported to answers.microsoft.com

I don't want to go on a wild goose chase. I don't want to hack away at the registry and/or wait for a reset that may never finish. My reset from last night is still "looking for changes".

Any other suggestions?

OneDrive constantly "preparing to upload" a file

Getting nowhere with this on other places like https://learn.microsoft.com/it

On my work account I get this image attached of "uploading 0.0kb of 4.1mb at 0.0kb/s, 1 file remaining".

It's been going on for over a year. The onedrive works fine, but it always states this and never goes away. my work laptop is fine and doesn't show this, so I know it's local. However I cannot find it.

I tried the following to remove 0kb files in powershell and it worked for 551 files, but it didn't fix the issue as I still see this random 4.1MB file trying to upload.

Get-ChildItem -File -Recurse | Where-Object { $_.Length -eq 0 } | Remove-Item -Force

Anyone can help?

All the files in my one drive desktop has padlock.

All my files in One drive desktop has padlock even in web says read only. I did unlink the PC, did not work. I have E5 license and I am the admin. I contacted Microsoft support and through diagnostic tool I unlocked SharePoint. I have used 55Gb out of 1Tb. It's been more than 48 hours after unlocking it still shows the same. The Microsoft support unassigned E5 license re-assigned it, still the same.

differential sync stop working well.

neDrive's differential sync doesn't work; instead, it updates the whole files when there's a change in a file.

The issue happened on two of my computers. Both are running Windows 11, and the OneDrive version is 26.074.0420.0001.

This is how the bug happens:

Using Acrobat to open a PDF file that's saved in the OneDrive folder in File Explorer, then edit the PDF and save it. Then I saw the OneDrive panel on the right of the taskbar showed it was uploading the whole file (because it uploaded the same file size as my file size) to the cloud, not just the changes.

Differential sync used to work well on PDF files on my computer, but I don't know why it stopped working.

I've tried resetting OneDrive using the command %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset, but it doesn't work.

And I've searched for solutions on the internet, but I got no valuable information.

I believe the issue is caued by onedrive itself, because I used Google Drive, which also supports differential sync, to test if my PDF can be synced differentially in the same environment (I also used Acrobat to edit and save the same PDF file with the same reproduction operations). It turned out Google Drive could do differential sync really well.

Please help me.

I‘ve post the issue on Microsoft supoort forum, But I haven't received any useful messages so far.
