Orky scrapyard crane (WIP).

I'm eventually making an whole table of orky fortified scrapyard terrain. I was working on wall sections with walkways en masse, but I got sidetracked and I knew I would eventually want a crane, and the pieces were speaking to me so I went ahead and made it lol. I'm gonna add some more random scrap pieces to the boom and the mast but its mostly there now.

Scratch build ork barricade

Built two styles of Ork barricades for my terrain set — one pair looks looted, while the other looks crudely welded together from whatever scrap the Boyz could find. There’s also a bonus ramshackle barricade waiting at the end.

Most of the build is made from old bootleg LEGO pieces from my childhood, wooden coffee stirrers, layered cardboard, and random plastic scraps for the finer details.

Bomb Squig Proxies

I was watching this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSSGBm4jruk&t=346s and there are these four little tracked vehicles being used as proxies for bomb squigs. I thought they looked 3D printed (they're actually resin cast; after starting them I discovered they are Goliath Mines from Kromlech) and decided to have a go at making some from cheaper materials.

Materials used are wood (the core of three of them), single corrugated cardboard (the core of the fourth), thick food packaging card, thin food packaging card, Graphix medium chipboard, EVA foam, spray bottle tube, cocktail sticks, bamboo skewer, paper, wooden beads, twine, thin wire and paper clip wire.

The first four images show all four from different angles, then made, primed and painted images of the first I did, as it was easier painting it in pieces, and finally it assembled from two angles.

They're about 25mm square so will, just about, fit on a 25mm base. I think they're a little smaller than Kromlech's.

Scratch-built/toy-bashed trukk

I got sidetracked from working on my stompa, and the cab from a cement truck transformers toy (This one) kept eyeing me from my bits box.

The cab is built normal (behind all the extra armour) but I completely cut and reshaped the chassis to fit the trukk dimensions, before building the truckbed.

Beside's from the transformers toy, The rest is mostly toy parts, printer parts and jewelry chain. the hubcaps on the wheels are blades from a paper-shredder, and washers. the curved panels holding up the wreckin' ball are PVC drainpipe - a great crafting material that's cheap and easy to work with

I'm particularly happy with how the the Wreckin' ball turned out, as well as the the spiked bumper (as proxy for the spiked wheels) and the exposed fuel tank (made from a plumbing fitting.) Less happy with the exhaust pipes/smokestacks (which look kinda janky) and the rear end (which I'm probably going to have another look at with fresh eyes at some point. Overall very happy with how it turned out.

Hopefully at some point I'll stop procrastinating and finish something lol.

After seeing a similar thing made primarily using the Stormboyz kit, I had a go at making my own from basically junk. Photos show all the finished models, then the first in made, partially and fully painted from several angles, then the magnetic posable flight stand.

The grotjets are made from a combination of primarily paper, paper straw, Graphix medium chipboard, thin card/thick paper, bamboo skewer, a magnet and a lid from a mini soy sauce bottle. Depending on the model, also used were guns clipped from cheap army men, tube from disposable mechanical pencils, tube from a spray bottle, cocktail sticks and a hemispherical bead.

The stands are made from 32mm bases (so they could be used as Stromboyz proxies), armature wire, heat shrink tubing, paper, a magnet, limestone chippings, sharp sand and, underneath, metal pellets from a broken ankle weight to add more weight to the base.
