I’ve been watching a lot of videos of the demo, and I think most would agree that the lighting in the game looks fantastic.
My only suggestion would be to add some further lighting flair to the beacons on vehicles (if equipped).
Currently, it appears that the “internals” of the beacon rotate, but there’s no actual flash effects. This is especially noticeable at night, when the vehicle headlights produce really nice and bright glare effects, however the beacons give off nothing - and the light doesn’t reflect off the environment around it.
Just a suggestion! It doesn’t have to be an over the top change, because I could anticipate too much of a flash on the screen would actually become very distracting.
Maybe even adding a toggle switch to turn the lights on/off?
As frustrating as this game is at times, I know I'll be getting it when it comes out. Thanks Funselektor for knocking it out of the park with this!
so now the demo's done I have a few thoughts I'd like to share, instead of just staying quiet about them:
multiple screenshots on the store page show multiple cosmetic parts in the same category being on the same car. the only categories this would work in are the front and rear bumpers, the rear side and the roof lights, cos the rest aren't possible to combine. either way, I hope this is in the full game and was just missing from the demo for whatever reason. examples of what I mean:
I don't think the winch physics are necessarily bad, but they could definitely be better, especially when towing other vehicles (the challenge ones). idk if it's just a game or car limitation but towing that one challenge vehicle in the demo was annoying cos it was back and forth between actually towing it forward and then being dragged backwards by its weight. suggestions; maybe higher torque, allow the towed vehicle to turn on the engine thru the towing player and engage the handbrake on the dead vehicle automatically when it's not being towed.
I know this game isn't Snowrunner but that doesn't mean the lack of grip in mud and other areas isn't annoying. losing traction on gravel makes sense cos of rally cars, but mud and water acting the same way doesn't, cos they're more solid (not literally) actually interact with the vehicle (I have no idea if that explains it well btw, I'm terrible with words). the best way I can explain it as that it feels like driving on ice when driving thru mud in this game and the best place to demonstrate what I mean is the mud pit next the north-western cabin in the demo. basically, if u go down the hill into the mud pit at speed the car keeps going but can't brake or turn much, whereas in Snowrunner the truck would be slowed by the mud itself. afaik, what Snowrunner (and the Mudrunner tech in general) does is kinda unique for games in terms of how it simulates offroading. my suggestion; maybe up the grip values of the vehicles, both with and without the tyre upgrades.
a few screenshots also show visual upgrades, like a snorkel and external cage, despite the demo not showing those to have visual changes. I'm hoping these are in the final game, considering the suspension upgrade already does this. examples of what I mean:
one small idea I have is maybe adding multiple save files? idk how small that would be to add but the option would be nice
I can't think of anything else to add rn, but I will say the demo was amazing and I can't wait for the full game release
Meteor ☄️
First of all: Thank you so much to the developers for making this game and also providing us with such a great and cozy demo. My wife and i play some games together but never anything with cars. She thinks Snowrunner is a bit to involved and not really her niche but Over the Hill did it for her so we finally have an offroad game we both enjoy.
We do have a few questions. We noticed that after installing the upgrade where you can drive through deeper water, there is no snorkel visible on the car. Is that a bug or a feature? Also will it be possible to for example have a ladder and a spare tire on the rear of the car?
Really looking forward to the release of the full game. It looks amazing and it is gonna be a great way to pass time during the long winter that will inevitable come around november where i live. Have a good one! Cheers
What Biomes are you hoping for other than Wetlands?
How do you pick up told you've used? Can you not retrieve the winch point or boards?
This game is looking very promising. Love the visual style and relaxed nature of it, but it needs some optimization. Can´t wait to see what other vehicles and mods we will be able to have/equip, and playing with friends will most definitely be a ton of fun! I will surely be buying it as soon ASAP!
