Vices & Virtues Fans, Why Do You Enjoy It?

Hello!

I’ve been a fan of Panic! for roughly a year now, and I’m slowly starting to consume all of their music. I just did a full listen through of A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, and now the only one left is Vices & Virtues, as I’ve listened to all the others. I’ve heard Ballad of Mona Lisa and Let’s Kill Tonight already, and I enjoy them but they’re not really jumping out at me like most other songs off the other albums do. Which makes me a bit nervous, as I’ve seen most people on this subreddit seem to enjoy that album the most. Which makes me think it’s just not clicking to me of why it’s good lol idk. So, for those that like that album, explain why? And maybe there’s a specific order I need to listen to it to fully enjoy it.

why is there so much hate?

I wanna preface this by saying I’m a newer and younger fan. I see a lot of turmoil here and on tiktok between Brendon lovers and Ryan lovers. I don’t get it. They both seem like good people and they don’t seem to have any hate for each other (Although I don’t think they talk after that jerkoff psycho pretended to be Brendon). In the music itself, sure AFYCSO and Pretty. Odd. are by far my favorite P!ATD albums, but we can’t give all the credit to Ryan. The reasons those albums are so great is that it was a combination of Ryan’s writing and Brendon’s voice. It wasn’t one or the other. I personally don’t love the Young Veins nor do I love anything post-Ryan (My friend showed me DOAB and I don’t hate it. Some good tracks). On here and tiktok I see so much about both sides. But why can’t you love both? My tiktok pfp has both of them preforming together during the AFYCSO tour. I don’t get it

The Young Veins Vinyl for Sale

I’ve got a copy of “Take a Vacation” on vinyl signed by Jon Walker. The sleeve is in rough shape- including tape damage on back. Vinyl had a slight warp, but still plays fine. Some surface noise and “pops”. Some scratches present- but I didn’t notice any skips. I know this is a tough album to find- hoping someone can take it off my hands and enjoy even with its flaws.

"team ryan ross"

tryna fuel the fire for engagement bait

like wym bro, if it wasnt for Brendon guesting at almost all ur shows bc spencer got u a record deal u wouldnt have even got anywhere

"By fall 2007 a lot of P!ATD fans were really annoyed with how The Cab kept name-dropping Brendon and using that connection in a tacky way. It was mostly Cash who kept using Brendon like a prop… it almost seemed like he thought Brendon was just a ticket to get fans through instead of an actual person"

I decided to take a re-listen to Pretty. Odd. After the turmoil of my ranking

I have a new found appreciation for it. Here are my notes.

-The transition from I Have Friends in Holy Spaces to Northern Downpour was absolutely diabolical.

-favorite tracks from the album are We're so starving, Nine in The Afternoon, That Green Gentleman, Do You know What I'm Seeing, Northern Downpour and Folkin' Around.

-We're so Starving needed to be longer it was so good 😭😭

-Lyrical masterpiece, Ryan's lyricism is like no other. This album showed that more than AFYSO in my opinion.

-Ryan's and Brandon's vocals together are heavenly. I was ascending it felt like. I wish Ryan sang more in AFYSO.

Conclusion: I'm glad I gave Pretty. Odd. another chance. It's truly a masterpiece. Some songs still has to grow on me though!

Mike Viola - Diamonds of New York (Live Debut w/ Brendon & Jake Backing Vocals) [No audience screaming + No Verse 2 Interruption] | April 19th, 2022

When Mike first played this song, Brendon & Jake were on backing vocals... but randomly someone in the audience screams in the middle of it which kinda throws off the vibe, and in the middle of verse 2, Mike interrupts the song to tell a quick story (which throws off the whole song lol). I edited both of them out seamlessly! I hope you all enjoy

Favorite Panic! At The Disco Song?

I’ll start, mine is camisado! I like the first beat drop and the meaning behind the song about Ryan Ross and his relationship with his dad! This song is underrated but i’ve heard that it was one of the tops when it came out which is great to know. Anyway what’s your favorote panic song from any album? I’m curious but i would also like to compare answers and make a chart or graph

10 Years Ago Today: I Saw Weezer and Panic! at the Disco at PNC Bank Arts Center

10 years ago today (July 2, 2016), I saw Weezer and special guest Panic! at the Disco play the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ. I'll never forget this show namely because of how I went into PNC simply to see Weezer live but left as a massive fan of PATD...

First to level set - I arrived to PNC not realizing that PATD were in the midst of a resurgence, thinking their buzz had dwindled over the years. So you can imagine my wife and I's surprise as we looked around and instantly asked each other "Why are so many 13 year olds wearing Panic! At The Disco shirts?!" Two songs into their set, though, it was clear as to why - Brendon Urie blew me away with both his vocals and showmanship (plus much to my surprise, the songs they were playing off their then new album "Death Of A Bachelor" sounded awesome). It's the clearest example of a band taking me by surprise and winning me over...

Oh, and Weezer were great as well (though not a surprise.... though the considerable age gap between Weezer and PATD's fans in attendance that night was).

Stay tuned for more things to come from this space, including stories from concerts like this!

Ryan glazers need to stop

So for context I was scrolling on TikTok and saw Panic’s cover of Shout! Now if you’ve heard this cover, at the part in the song when everyone is supposed to be whispering ‘a little bit softer now’ Ryan is very loud, keeping the same volume the whole time. Now I thought this was a little funny so I looked in the comment section and saw that the only thing ppl were complaining about was that Brendon shouldn’t have ‘stolen’ panic.

I’m not trying to start beef between the two sides or anything but I really don’t understand why people are still on this hate train for Brendon. I love Brendon and Ryan both equally and I don’t know why there always has to be a type of fight between the two sides.

For instance, when Brendon brought out Spencer for WWWY, the only comments I saw were people complaining that it should’ve been Ryan instead. Ryan obviously would’ve came he if he wanted to but he probably didn’t. It’s not like Brendon is telling him no or gatekeeping panic from him.

People don’t realize that Spencer was one of the OG members for panic when they were still a cover band and they just completely ignore him. Idk where the whole idea of Brendon ‘stealing’ panic came from because they broke off on creative differences. Plus, it’s not like it was only him the whole time, Spencer was still in the band for a bit of time and again he was one of the OG members like Ryan.

I’ll go as far to say that post split panic isn’t that bad and people are just salty because Ryan left. I mean yeah not all of the songs are god tier but that’s bound to happen with some bands. Anyways, opinions?

Lying is the most fun fish tank!!

Heyy!! I made this fish tank from the lying is the most fun music video and just wanted to show off!!

I think a lot of y'all don't understand

I've seen a lot of people here lump all Ryan fans into this "hating Brendon for no reason" narrative. That isn't all of us. A lot of people prefer post split simply because they don't like mainstream heavily pop influenced stuff. No disrespect towards Brendon that just isn't panic to me. I feel the same way about the mid to late 2010s fall out boy. If you're a big fan of afysco and p.o then the later albums might not appeal towards you. The genres fluctuate widely from album to album. It's ok that not every panic fan doesn't like certain versions of the band. That is not a personal attack on Brendon or anyone. Honestly it's reasons like these that reaffirm to me why Brendon should have just used his own name. Also it's ok that people wished Ryan and Jon were at wwwy. That is not undermining Spencer. It's very natural for people to want the full line up from that era. Especially at shows that are anniversaries of albums.

Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die is underrated

I really like the lyrics in some songs and while it’s not my style the instruments are actually pretty good and brendon’s singing is great in a lot of the songs! I think for me it’s about even with VLV! I also enjoy the cover art for the album to i like the color contrast of the smoke it’s very nice. Think it deserves more than what people gave it.

P.S. If you saw my other post i formally apologize, It’s grown on me
