Hi everyone, I've appeared for JEE this year and with my current percentile, I’m quite confident that I’ll easily get an NIT( tier 2 core, tier 3 cse) seat in JoSAA counselling. However, I’m seriously thinking about taking partial drop — joining the NIT while preparing for JEE 2027 to aim for a better IIT/NIT branch.( Expecting 20-25 k in advance this year 🙃) I have several doubts and would really appreciate clear guidance from seniors who have done partial drop or know the exact process. My main questions: Exact procedure for partial drop Do I need to fully join the NIT (pay fees, report physically, attend classes, etc.) and prepare side by side? How to register for JEE Main 2027 while studying in NIT? Will having an active college seat create any problem during next year’s JEE registration? How to properly leave the college later? If I get a better seat next year, what is the correct way to withdraw from the current NIT? Documents required? Fee refund policy? How much money am I likely to lose? Eligibility for JEE Advanced 2027 If I take admission in NIT this year, will I remain eligible for JEE Advanced next year? Other important things Attendance rules, backlogs risk, hostel issues, time management, mental pressure, etc. I know partial drop is very challenging and needs extreme discipline, but I want to keep a safe backup while pushing for a better rank next year. Please share your real experiences — what worked, what didn’t, expected money loss, and mistakes to avoid. Any help would be really valuable! Thanks in advance 🙏
getting cs/cs allied from comedk mostly. but i only want iit. messed up jee advanced with 110 marks. i only want top 7 iits core branch. messed up adv due to exam temparament. can i take partial from rvce? im ready to take full stress and all. i dont want to enjoy college life in a mid college
my qualifications-12th pass, 93.6 percentile in jee mains ( i am also a dropper)
I have given other exams like ISI,CMI but chances are slim. In jee avd i dont think i will qualify. Now IAT and NEST is left.
What options do i have based on my given percentile?
I really want to do research in pure maths but i can never get myself to score well in these mcq exams.
I also on my own have been studying pure maths from book like tom apostol calculus , elementary number theory by burton etc.
Ik generally the people who take partial drops are the ones who get 90%ile and above and have confidence in themselves to get 99%ile in mains or good rank in advance the next year. But I've got 76%ile. 26k rank in VITEEE and 80% in boards. I'm getting 80 marks in COMEDK and 108 in KCET. 153 in BITSAT Session 1.
Honestly all I want to do is just leave my JEE studies behind and get to coding in Rust as fast as possible. It's my dream and passion and that's what I can spend 10 hours a day studying, not organic chem for which I will have no use for in my life. Though I get that maths I will need to understand at an exceptional level for coding with things like graphics APIs.
The issue is that at these horrible marks I don't get anything of my choice. I wanna have a college that is well reputed but not strict. I love coding but I wanna do it on my own accord, not in a workaholic place like IIIT Hyderabad, even though it's amazing. Ik beggars can't be choosers, and I'm in no position to complain but it's what I genuinely feel like. I don't wanna go to Tamil Nadu for VIT, I'm damn sure I won't be comfortable there for 4 years, but VIT is currently the best I am getting. That too at cat 4/5. I'm at a dilemma. Do I take a partial drop and enroll into a college that is cheaper as a safety net and work towards atleast cutoff for next year? Or do I try to keep my coding on the side for yet another year and take a full drop? Please tell me your advice. Thanks!
im getting IIIT Allahabad ECE / NIT Warangal Mech / NIT Trichy ICE thru mains
I fucked up advanced (70-80 score)
if I take nit T ice then I can manage to study since it's not a very tough branch per se .
i never purely studied for advanced ,did only mains prep
can someone who actually got decent marks in advanced in partial drop give me advice?
thanks
Hey guys,
Siddhe point par aata hoon kyunki dimaag ka dahi ho chuka hai. CBSE ka result aaya aur meri bohot gandi wali lag gayi. Overall sirf 73% bane hain aur upar se Physics me compartment aa gayi hai. Post daalne me bhi sharm aa rahi thi par ab darr lag raha hai toh socha yahan thoda sach bol doon.
75% criteria toh gaya tel lene, toh NIT/IIT ka sapna toh abhi freeze ho chuka hai jab tak agle saal drop leke improvement na doon.
Abhi sabse pehla kaam toh July me Physics ka compartment nikalna hai, par dimaag me chal raha hai ki aage krun kya? WBJEE bhara tha aur kuch private colleges dekh raha hoon jahan 45%-60% par admission mil jata hai. Par scene ye hai ki mera discipline bilkul zero chal raha hai abhi, upar se padhne me procastination alag level par hai.
Yahan koi aur hai jo is tarah ke border line situation me fasa hai?
Bohot badi duvidha me hoon. Please thoda matured response dena, mazaak mat udana bhaiyo, pehle hi bohot tension me hoon.
Tum log abhi kya kar rahe ho, comments me batao.
Together we will RAISE OUR VOICE FOR 3RD ATTEMPT IN JEE ADVANCED STARTING FROM NEXT YEAR.
So this year I m gonna join igdtu cse .... But seeing reddit , I m having dbts since I also wanna have a good college life and good placements also ...I have some.questions pls help
-should I do partial drop and go for bitsat next year ....this year I scored around 273 marks in bitsat sess 1 , but couldn't clear 75% in pcm (overall i got 83%) .. I will give maths improvement exam this year which I m 100% sure will clear the criteria for next year.
-should I take dtu nsut lower branches , chances of me getting ece is less in spot round.
-should I just focus on igdtu cse and work on my skills?
What all documents do i need from my clg to sit in josaa and bitsat counselling pls tell previous pdroppers
okk, gen female, 98.95 in jee mains, nothing expected in adv, cet se hopefully accha hi result aaye, bits mei cse unrealistic chances, have to do only cse, spit cse confirm hai miljayega, but i want to try for nits, vnit cse and above, but my parents wont agree for full drop ofc, and partial bhi demotivate hi krege, saying ki focus on college, and yess it is true, i will focus majority on college cgpa only, 100 percent attendance rkhugi if in case spit jana prjaye, full focus on colleges studies since ussi ke through job milni hai if partial doesnt work, i would just give jee casually like, not fully prepping dedicatedly for it, just go and give it type, so i want to ask ki if it works out, how should be the following procedure conducted, like
will i be able to take a seat in nit in josaa, given i already joined a maharashtra college, like allowed rhega kya, college se phir withdraw krne ka process (money mostly not an issue), placement issues like any bad impression since i took a drop, this year was first attempt, gap certificate thingy and other official things, please help seniors

I am already a dropper . This year as well i couldn't qualify jee I have given cuet that's it I will probably get bsc , ba or BBA in decent colleges. I can see three options right now
Take any college and prepare for exams like cat , or any government job one
Full drop for jee and better college
Partial drop but I am not sure about college attendance, assignment exams details .
Also any other suggestions if you all wanna give .
Thank you.
I got 74% in 12th(UP Board).
Mine 11th me jee ki prep kari thi but mere marks aache nhi aaye 11th me and my father said ki jee chor do and pura focus 12th pe kro and ab maine fucked up kr diya, improvement de dungi english ka sirf 1% chahiye toh.

But I know i can do better, so I am deciding to take second partial drop as my parents wont be affirmative for a full second drop.
I am now trying to get a college throught MHTCET.
I somewhere read that colleges take full four year fee if we leave that college after one year, So if that so then please help me.
Also guide me and i will be reporting here everyday after 16 may as my mhtcet exam is on 15 may.
If Any other second partial dropper is there then also we can help each other.
